Can I put iPod contents on another computer?

Hi, I have (well, had) a laptop that I synced with my iPod, but now its dead. With it goes my music, purchases, and everything. Unless I can change computers, of course. I have a desktop that I'd like to put my iPod contents on, but I can't mix libraries, so I would end up deleting everything on my iPod (iTunes library is empty). How can I do this?

For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

I have 2 computers in my home (the family one and mine) and my computer I have downloaded like 80% of my itunes music from, but the cd-rom doesn't work for some reason. When the window comes saying "The ...iPod is synced with another iTunes library...do you want to..." Just hit cancel. Your iPod is now set to "manually manage movies and songs"
Now you can drag and drop whatever songs you want onto your iPod. I would go ahead and set the setting on the other computer to "manually manage..." also in order for it not to erase the songs you put on there from the other computer.
You can go to Devices>iPod>Settings There are four options toward the bottom of the page. One of those is "manually...." Check that box.

If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default. So I re-installed Windows XP Pro on my computer and I just installed iTunes. I also updated my iPod. I have a 4GB Ipod Nano 2nd Gen. No backup is a bad mistake.
You can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod. Without syncing: File>transfer Purchases
You can e-mail photos to yourself.
If you enter one unique contact and calendar entry in the computer, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.

Yes. However, the backup file does not necessarily contain everything on your device (music, some purchases, some photos) so you want to make sure all items are backed up and transferred for safekeeping first.

there's a small shaded box in upper left corner click it and show menu bar
now go under view and show side bar
go under help and check for updates (11.1.3 current) - update if needed
plug in iphone (or ipad, ipod ect..)
when the device shows up in sidebar click on the name of device not the arrow
this opens up a summary page
across top says info, apps, music, photos, ect...
click on what you want to sync ie music
check the top box that says sync music select -entire library or selected songs and pick what you want by checking

I imported music from a CD into my compter at work and when I got home and went to my iTunes account none of the songs were in my library. I also noticed that on my Work computer there were a couple songs that I had to click on the little 'cloud' icon before I could listen to them (these were not songs I imported they were songs that were already in my library). Not sure if this makes semse...help.

Move the domain.sites file from one computer to the other.
The file is located under User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Move this file to the same location on the other computer and double click and iWeb will open it. Remember, it is your User Library that you want and not your System Library, as you will not find iWeb there.
Just create a new site on the same domain file and it will appear below the other site. If you want them side by side then duplicate your domain file and have one site per a domain file and they can then be side by side.

A retail version of the software is good to install on 2 computers as per the End User License Agreement.
If you wish to transfer the license you need to deactivate the software first by launching the software, go to the 'help' menu and select 'Deactivate'.
You can then install the software on the new machine and use the serial number to activate it.
