Can I re-locate my image files?

I imported about 80GB of pictures into iPhoto, leaving the images themselves on my NAS (I couldn't afford to lose 80GB of space on my Macbook Air!).
Some time later, I was forced to move the image folders to another NAS.  iPhoto now (quite reasonably!) complains that it cannot find the image files.  Is there some way I can persuade it to to reconnect with the images in their new location?  Or will I have to start again from scratch?

iPhoto does not have a built-in option to relocate and reconnect original image files. If you want routinely to work with referenced original images and be able to relocate original files freely, I'd upgrade to Aperture.
To fix your immediate problem I'd put the referenced original files back to where you removed them from and use iPhoto Library manager to create a reconnected copy of your iPhoto Library on your new NAS.

  • Location of image files, dat files etc.. in a project

    hi,
    I dont whether this is the proper location to ask this question but i couldnt find answer anywhere else.
    I am using netbeans 5.0 to write some jsp pages. I want to display some image file in the jsp. I tried all posiblle locations for locating the image file but all the time i was getting file not found error when try to open the image in the browser using http address. I wasted lot of time on this issue nd couldnt proceed further because of this silly error.
    Please help me out...where the image file should be located in netbeans 5.0 so that it can be displayed in jsp pages.
    thanx

    I generally put an images directory in the web-app directory (alongside the jsps) and put the images there. then refer to them, as <img src="images/xxxxxx.png">

    not sure that i understand your question, but make sure that there are no spaces in the path that you are trying to load the file from. c:\My Documents\text.txtshould bec:\MyDocuments\text.txthope that helps.

  • Can't find/retrieve named image file

    When editing photos with CS6, I export afterwards to a file I've created for the purpose. For example, "Vacation." Unfortunately, I noticed I was not careful about where this file had been placed and the only way I can locate it is when I'm saving the next one.  The chain goes something like this:
    Home>Pictures>Aperture Main>Preview>2014>07>11>20140706-110450>Vacation
    I'll add that with the "Aperture Main" part of the chain, it's grey and unaccessible. I recognize that it's automatically created dated files in part ("20140706") but after the dash, I think it's arbitrary. It's not the original number of the image the camera assigns.
    Anyway, I've done searches by date, by Vacation, by month, and what comes up is slim. I never see the layers of files to search as indicated in the string above. I get "Pictures" (and as much as the originals are in Aperture, the edits were never put back, so I wouldn't search there), but there are no files in "Pictures" named "Preview" or "2014", etc.
    I have even searched "Preview" and have never seen the string to locate the "Vacation" file.
    Still looking and will use some specific numbers now, but don't expect much.
    Any idea how to crack where they're buried? They're hiding in plain sight.
    Thanks!

  • Why can't itunes locate my music files when they are there?

    I think that this happened when I checked off both "keep iTunes media folder organized" and "copy files to iTunes Media Folder when adding to library."I had all of my files located at C:\Users\Beata\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media   and then I noticed that itunes made folders for all of of my music files because I have checked off the keep iTunes media folder organized. Ever since then, itunes can't find all of my files but only some of it and I don't want to go one by one to locate all of the songs. All of my songs are located in the same location which is C:\Users\Beata\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music  I changed it to this location because all of my song files are located there and the place where it was located before, I didn't find the song files on there. I also noticed that itunes would oragize and create folders for my songs in the my music library and I thought that was the reason why itunes couldn't find the files because they were in the wrong location so I moved all of those folders to C:\Users\Beata\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music  So, is it because all of my files are in folders since itunes organized them? All of my files are in album, artist, and song title folders. Where should all of these folders be located at? Also, iTunes creates multiple folders that have the same name and should I just leave the folders be or organize them myself because I have folders that have the same exact name as in the artist and title but it has different song files in the folders. Should I combine the files into the same folder that have the same artist or should I just leave it that way?  Please ,I really need help as I have tried almost everything.

  • Can I back up individual image files to a slideshow DVD created in Premiere Elements 4.0?

    I created a Premiere Elements 4.0 Project including 3 separate photo slideshows. The slideshows were created in Photoshop Elements 6.0 and imported into my Premiere Elements project. I was hoping that when burning the project to DVD, my image files would also be individually backed up.
    When I give the DVD to family members I would like them to have access to the image files so they can print or use them individually. I would like to do this in 1 single DVD rather than giving them a DVD with the slideshows and a DVD with the image files. I was able to do this with a previous DVD authoring program I was using, but I cannot figure it out with Premiere Elements 4.0.
    Any ideas if this is do-able with Premiere Elements 4? (I am running Windows Vista Home premium SP1 - 64bit - 3GB RAM)

    Thanks for your help. I tried this. I burned the project to a folder (4.7GB) then to that folder I added a folder with my photos. So in the folder there was "Photos", "OpenDVD" and "Video_TS". I had 3 separate folders within the "Photos" folder, to keep the 3 slideshow photos grouped.
    I burned the entire folder to a DVD using my burn tool. I don't even know the name of the software I used, but I think it was just the Toshiba burn tool. I dragged and dropped the folder into my new disc folder, then at the top of my screen clicked "burn to disc", I named the disc and chose from the formating options "Mastered: disc can be read on other computers and some CD/DVD... no new data can be added..."
    Once burned I checked it on my DVD player and now it recognizes only the individual jpg files so it does a generic slideshow of these images rather than my slideshow project. (no menu, music...) Putting the disc in my computer I could access either the files or the slideshow project, but not on my home DVD player.
    I burned the folders to 2 separate discs, once dragging the whole folder to the disc and once opening the folder and dragging only the individual folders to the disc.
    Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. thanks.

  • How can I copy and paste images' file?

    I need to duplicate images' files (.jpeg or .gif) from a directory to another one.
    How can I do?
    Is there any method to do that?(with jdk1.3.1)
    Thanks for your help.

    The following class copies files. Just call "java FileCopier file1 file2". FileInputStream and FileOutputStream also accept File instances instead of Strings, which will help when you work with different directories.
    // file: FileCopier.java
    import java.io.*;
    public class FileCopier {
      private String fileIn, fileOut;
      private int buffersize = 32768;
      public FileCopier(String fileIn, String fileOut) {
        this.fileIn = fileIn;
        this.fileOut = fileOut;
      public void copy() throws IOException {
        FileInputStream reader = new FileInputStream(fileIn);
        FileOutputStream writer = new FileOutputStream(fileOut);
        byte[] buffer = new byte[buffersize];
        int read;
        while( (read = reader.read(buffer, 0, buffersize)) > 0 ) {
          writer.write(buffer, 0, read);
        writer.flush();
      public static void main(String args[]) throws IOException {
        FileCopier copier = new FileCopier(args[0], args[1]);
        copier.copy();
    }

  • How come 5.0 can't open local desktop images files (.jpg, .tif, .png ...) on my Mac anymore?

    I'm using Mac 10.6.8 and the newest version of Firefox 5.0. I have always been able to select File > Open File from the Firefox menu and select any image file on my computer and view it in the browser window. Suddenly I can't do this. All image files on my system are greyed out and not accessible. I can open html files from my local desktop and all images are present but can't open any .css files or single image files.

    Here's the *.tiff file.
    I've had to switch browser to Safari, as you can't load a tiff in Firefox, either.

  • Can the iPad display RAW image files?

    I know you can import RAW image files from a camera to the iPad.  Will the iPad be able to display the RAW image files?

    1) No you can't sync PDFs (Yes I know, this really annoys me too) I can sync and view a 700mb movie but can't sync and view a 1mb PDF, go figure. The only way I have found to save a PDF is to make a folder in my .Mac account then place an email with a PDF attachment into this folder. Now when you open it in Mail you can only view it in Portrait View (Vertical). So trying to read a PDF is almost impossible unless you enlarge it to the point where half the page is off the screen. Yea this phone has PDF support, but the worst, most limited support imaginable.
    2) Nope, you can't save PDFs from Safari (Or save anything else for that matter.)

  • DVDSP3-Can You Make A Disk Image File From DVDSP3?

    *Hello again. I'm just finishing up my first go around w/DVDSP3. I was surprised that when I got to the burning options, that there was no option for burning a disk image file. Is it do-able on this program?*
    *I burned out one disk and tested it on a couple different players, and "finally" it was good. After the burn, the prompt just said "Formatting finished". There was no option to burn another disk, nor could I find any place to bring up a menu, to tell it that I needed 4 disks. Therefore, it was hours just to get 4-15minute dvds burned, as it started the build all over again each time. Thanks again for the help!*
    LarryWest

    In the Format - even the Build and Format too - dialog, you have an option to write the disc to the hard drive.
    If you need to make a copy at a later date (even after you've nuked everything from your hard drives, you can use Disk Utility in OS X to make a disc image from an existing DVD-R, then burn additional copies.

  • Error: Unable to locate an image file browser...

    I get the error below when I insert an image element and try to associate a picture to it by either double clicking it or using the browse button in the Draw palette.
    I have looked in my install directory and the "FileSystemBrowser.dll" file is present as well as the "ImageFileBrowserIDL.dll" file, so what gives?

    Hi,
    you should be able to fix that problem by re-registering Designer file browser DLL.

  • How can i convert a hexidecimal image file to a bmp file

    i have an array of hex data, each of the 7707 rows has 80 characters, i want to convert this to a standard windows bmp or jpeg file, any ideas how to do it?

    stewbert;
    Is that only one image or there are several images in that array? If the array is the image, and columns (number of characters) and rows correspond to what you are saying your array contains, it is a big image!
    There are other questions that needs to be answered, like, each character, how many numbers contains (looks like "EF" or like "EF3B5A".) Such sizes give ideas of the format and to where is the color table.
    You can play with the "Draw XXX Pixmap" VIs located in Function palette -> Graphics & Sounds -> Picture Functions and see if one of them renders an image.
    I think the best would be if you can post a sample of your array so somebody here can look at it and try to "decode" it.

  • In Design CS 5.5, Can I link to large image files ??

    Dear friends,
    We are creating a 111 page file that links to about 120 large picture files.  Each picture file is about 40MB.  Doing this seems like it will slow down my computer's ability to quickly edit the file, because it will be so large.
    QUESTION: What are some ways around this?
    What is recommended?
    Shall I place the files, and then somehow TURN DOWN the "display performance" ?
    Or should I make SMALLER versions of all 120 files, then replace them with the large files when I am about to print to PDF?  (That sounds like a LOT of work)

    I'm not sure you are using the term "embedding" properly here.
    You want to link the images by using File > Place... That includes a pointer to the entire file and a preview inthe ID file, but not the actual image data. In order to embed (which saves a complete copy of the image data inside the ID file and will make it HUGE), you must slect the link in the Links panel and choose Embed from the panel flyout menu.
    It's also possible to copy and paste vector drawings into ID and the will not show in the links panel at all. I recommend against this in favor of Placing them as well. Complex pasted vector objects can cause significant slowdown whenver the screen has to be redrawn.

  • Why can't I load the image files in the Jar file?

    I make an application in a structure bellowing:
    A.class
    images\a.gif
    images\b.gif
    and I packed all of them(include the images directory) into a A.jar file.
    when I run the A.jar file,the application can't load the images in the Jar file.
    How can I do to solve this problem?

    It isn't working. The URL that is returned is blank. I tried rearanginf my stuff a little. Now it is set up like the other guys. So all the classes aren't in a package. so its:
    MyClass.class
    Sounds/mysound.wav
    all of this is in a .jar file. If it isnt in a .jar file it works. Bit I have mor than one class so I would really like it in a .jar file. But when it is MyClass.class.getResource("sounds/mysound.wav") returns nothing. Not null. Just blank.

    HI All,
           In one of  my module i am facing  one problem to  import/export the image (photo) file into  the sql database. In my webdynpro i am  using  the  model as a  javabeanmodel  for connecting to  database .i am confused about   what  type  of  property  i would take to hold the image  while  sending and retrieving in the javaBean .
    like for example  if  it is a userName we can take   type as  String and  it can easily mapped to  view context.
    And image  should mapped  to both component context and view context .
    in the case of  image  what can  i take(because it should go as  a binary data) ..if any  come across this type of  requirement   please  give some suggestions .
    In sql server we can  use  data types as BLOG and CLOGS ..
