Can I reconnect to a GUI session after network disconnection?

Hi,
I have the following scenario:
1. I have a SAP GUI (720) session open, e.g., transaction SE80.
2. My network connection/VPN goes down. The SAP GUI session terminates with the message:
"<SID>:connection to partner '<host>' broken..."
3. I fix my network connection and logon to SAP again
4. The dialog box "Lisence information.." gives me the option to keep other sessions
The question is if I can keep the old session (it shows in SM51) and reconnect to this, so that I can continue editing the screen I was working in?

I don't think that SAP would provide session reconnection since when connection is broken, data which has not been saved yet will be rollback.
For session which is showed to you when you are logging again is broken session and it's zombie session. You can kill those session since this no use and wasting your memory resources.

Can't reconnect to Time Machine backups after upgrade to Yosemite

I did a clean install of Yosemite and restored the user accounts from my time machine backup. I reconnected to the time machine backup on my time capsule and performed a backup. That went fine.
Now I can't access any of the backups made before I upgraded to Yosemite. They all show up in the history bar on the right in time machine but when I click on a backup nothing loads. I've run a verify on the backup and it passes. Looking at the backup file it has 400GB of data, the same as before the upgrade to Yosemite.
Any ideas why I can't access the backups?

While in Time Machine, press the key combination shift-command-C. The front window will show all mounted volumes. All snapshots should now be accessible. Select the one you want and navigate to the files you want to restore.
If you need to restore from a backup of the hidden user Library folder, first select a snapshot, then press shift-command-G. A Go to Folder dialog will open. In it, you'll enter the path to the folder. The dialog will help you by automatically completing the parts of the path when you start to type them.
The path begins with slash character ("/"). Enter that. The rest of the parts will be separated by slashes.
The next part is the date and time of the current snapshot. Enter a "2", and the rest of the date should be filled in automatically. Press the right-arrow key to jump to the end of the path. Enter a slash to start the next part.
Next is the name of the volume (usually "Macintosh HD" unless you gave it a different name.) Start to type that, then jump to the end and enter a slash.
The next part is "Users", followed by a slash.
Next is your (short) user name, which is also the name of your home folder.
Finally, enter "Library", then press return. You should now be in the Library folder. From there you can get around as in the Finder.

Can't open tabs from previous session (after Firefox regularly closed)?!

Regularly closed firefox 36.0.4. and shot down computer (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit).
On next start, Firefox doesn't open tabs from previous session (altought it is configured to do this) !?!?!?
I lost about 30 tabs!!
Very, very frustrating!!!

How can I reconnect my events to iMovie after I have moved them to another external drive?

I have over 1TB of home movies that were stored on an external HD but that HD was starting to act up and needed repairing. I copied all my iMovie files (events and projects) to another external before I lost everything. Unfortunately, I did this via finder and not iMovie. I have since reformatted my original external HD. What can I do to reconnect all my iMovie events and projects back into iMovie? Help Please.

I would suggest naming your repaired HD with the same volume name that the original one had. Then move the iMovie Events folder and the iMovie Projects folders back to that drive. Then restart iMovie.

Limit interaction time in WIM after Customer Disconnects.

We are having a problem with our analysts keeping chats open after the customer disconnects to avoid taking more chats. Is there a setting we can change that will limit the time after the disconnect and force the analyst to take another chat? We do not want to limit the time if they are talking, only if the customer disconnects. If that is not possible does anyone know where in the SQL database that information is store so I can make an alert for managers that an analyst has a disconnected chat?

There is an inactivity timer you can set that will log the agent out.

Bluetooth devices can't reconnect to iPhone 4 after some time or when A2DP playback has stopped (since iOS 5)

so I've had these Bluetooth issues since I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5. I've searched and searched and found nothing, so finally I decided to post my story here.
First of all I'd like to point out: I've tried everything! ..but more on this below.
I have a Bluetooth capable car stereo, the Sony BT2600, in my car. It works like a charm and I've been using it for listening to music via A2DP (Bluetooth Stereo Audio) since I updated my HTC Prophet to Windows Mobile 6 back in 2008. Since 2009 I've been using it with an iPhone 3G, then a 3GS, and finally with my iPhone 4, which I've owned since october 2010.
Calling worked, listening to music worked, and since iOS 3, I think, AVRCP has been working fine, too.
Now to the things that worked until before the iOS 5 update:
When I got into my car, turned on the ignition, the car stereo automatically tries to connect to the last connected device, so unless BT was disabled on the iPhone, it connected without problems and I could start music playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the unit, without having to pull the iPhone out of my pocket.
When I got out of my car, turned the ignition, and thus, the car stereo, off, the iPhone would of course disconnect.
Here's where it becomes interesting: When I would go for another drive in my car, the head unit would reconnect to the iPhone, just as in the first point of this list.
Same when starting the car's engine, which cuts the power to the head unit for one second. It would automatically reconnect to the phone and I could press the Play/Pause button twice to resume playback.
Furthermore, when Repeat was not enabled on the iPhone's iPod application and the current album / playlist / podcast would end, the Bluetooth connection would remain active, which was good, because I would still be able to receive calls using the hands-free functionality of the Sony head unit, and I could restart playback by pressing the Play/Pause button on the latter.
My Apple aluminum Wireless Keyboard would also connect flawlessly whenever BT was enabled on the iPhone.
Also the Bluetooth tethering feature would work fine - I could just connect to it via my MacBook's Bluetooth menu, without having to do anything with the iPhone.
Since I updated to iOS 5,
my car stereo doesn't connect to the iPhone unless it's been less than a minute that I'd enabled Bluetooth on the iPhone.
same with the keyboard.
When music playback stops (at the end of an album/playlist/podcast, with Repeat disabled), the whole Bluetooth connection is instantly lost, and can't be regained until I disable and re-enable Bluetooth on the iPhone. Which means that I can't take calls in my car after listening to an album or podcast or playlist when I forget to enable Repeat.
Whenever I have to re-start my car's engine, the connection is, in more than half of the cases, lost until disabling and re-enabling BT on the iPhone.
Same with tethering.
What I've tried so far:
deleted all BT devices from the iPhone's list, re-paired - nothing
rebooted, many, many times - nothing
restored to iOS 5.0.1 - nothing
hit "Reset Network Preferences" - nothing, the BT devices even stay in the list
hit "Delete All Settings" on the iPhone - nothing, BT device list still the same
restored to 5.0.1 again - nothing
restored to iOS 5.1 - nothing
restored to iOS 5.1 from DFU mode, setting up the iPhone "as new iPhone". Big step, PITA, but still - nothing. At least this has cleared the BT device list. But the issues remain. (So does the battery drain issue, by the way, but that's another story)
So. I've oficially run out of ideas. Any inspiration? Many thanks in advance.

I've noticed this lately as well, with my iPhone 4. I couldn't confidently pin it directly on any particular iOS update, but my iPhone used to automatically connect up via Bluetooth with my Prius's handsfree feature, and now it doesn't. I work with a CE-based device at my job, with Bluetooth capability, and I used to test out that feature by having it discover my iPhone. This no longer works either.
What I have found (not really a solution, but it does work and may be a clue for Apple) is that if I simply go to the Settings app then the General -> Bluetooth screen and let it sit there, it will pair right up with my car within a few seconds. Bluetooth is always on, and always says "Now Discoverable" at the bottom of the settings screen.

I have 10.8.3 installed. I use Cisco VPN but this hangs after 57 minutes and 35 seconds. I disconnect but can't reconnect straight away but have to wait about 10 minutes then have another 57 minutes

Gui-Session canceld after sending E-Mail

Hello together,
after client installation of Windows 7 - 64 bit and SAP Gui 7:30 PL7 occurred in a small number of SAP users following error.
SAP Gui session is sporadically shot down by sending an e-mail from Outlook 2003. All registered Sap applications and the SAP Gui falling.
In the client - event viewer no indication of the cause. So far, no installation errors Sapseitig known.

PC disconnects from VPN after several hours, can't reconnect until PC reboot.

I started using a private VPN for video gaming in general since last month, but I've started running into a problem I cannot fix... my PC tends to disconnect from the VPN after a while (6~12 hours of use?) and I can't reconnect to any VPNs until I reboot my
PC.
However.. my normal internet connection seems to work fine.
When I try to reconnect to the VPN after I get dropped, I'm welcomed by this error:

I'm on Windows 7 64bit and I use the default windows VPN client... idk what's it called, it's what you setup in the network and sharing center.
I've tried the following things:
*restart network adapter
*diagnose the issue with windows 7 network diagnostics

*reset internet connection
*using a neighbor's internet connection and I'm still unable to connect to any VPN until PC reboot.

could you tell me do you run more than one VPN connection on your PC?
Did you try to delete and re-configure the VPN?
What type of security software are you using? Any kind of software which might block the traffic or close the port in case it thinks that something fishy is going on?
Could you determine which manufacturer is your Wireless card, visit their website and download the latest drivers directly from their site. Or if you are using laptop, visit manufacturers website and download wireless drivers.
You can try to update the drivers manually.
What about that 'Enable logging' thingy? Can you enable it and when the next time disconnection happens, you might determine what is the exact issue with the VPN.

Can I reconnect Time Machine backup after drive swap on OS X 10.6?

I swapped my MacMini's HD few days ago (previous one was dying, had hardware issues). I used CCC and replaced with a hybrid drive. So far, so good. However, when I plugged back the external USB drive were I keep my Time Machine backups, it is not being recognized, TM wants to run a new full set.
I did some research and discovered that TM may use the HD or machine's UUID and that's why it's triggering the new FULL.
I also found this article by Pondini (which seems to be a guru on the topic, lol ):

But attrb is not working, I guess such command it's not available on 10.6.8 ? ...
How can I reconnect Time Machine backups to the new HD? Or ... I simply cannot and I will have to delete and run a FULL set? I would prefer to keep my old backups, if possible, but it seems that with my OSX version that's not possible without workarounds.

The trick did not work :-(
I entered into TM and while I can see the old backups , I can't select them or do anything with them. Clearly, they have not been identified as previous backups, hence the reason for Today's FULL.
Ohh boy ... I'm about to give up ...

Images are offline and can't reconnect

Two projects in my Library show the files to be "offline" or "missing." When I select them all and "Manage referenced files" the aperture library doesn't show up in the pictures directory, and I can't reconnect because of this. The Aperture Library can be seen in Finder and all of the other projects seem to be fine. I haven't done anything such as a backup or moving files or etc.

Ok. So in general we have the Aperture Library/"Files for each folder"/"*.approject for each project"/"a folder for each import session"/"a folder for each image"/"Files for each image"
1st I tried to copy the *.approject file to a different location and reconnect from the different location. However the *.approject did would not appear in the Manage reference files dialog.
2nd I moved the *.jpg file from the "a folder for each image"/"Files for each image" to a different location. Went into aperture and deleted all the files from the project. Then re-imported the files from the new location. This worked.
So I started the same procedure on the other project that wasn't working. Moved the files...went into aperture....selected all images....just about to hit Command-delete....but I noticed that the little yellow triangle is gone. After moving the *.jpg files, the project mysteriously begins working again.
So just to double check, I tried it on the other "mystery" project. I moved the *.jpg files one by one, and everytime I move the *.jpg file another yellow triangle goes away. So all I'm left with is a *.apfile, *.apmaster, and 2 *.apversion files. But that appears to make it work again.
I also checked some of the working projects...they have a *.jpg file but they still work....Go figure.

No Remote session after disconnect

We have the problem that AFTER a disconnect of a remote session we get the message:
"Failed to connect to server (DNShostName~50)" - actually in German it reads "Fehler beim Herstellen einer Verbindung mit dem Server (DNShostName~50)"
The initial remote session works, only if it breaks a reconnect is only possible after a reboot of the remote host. In addition the client does not lock the screen if the connection is lost.
I noticed that the listening IP stack does not listen any longer. Before the problem, when doing a "netstat -a -b" I can see 2 entries for nzrWinVNC.exe:

JCO-Java application unable to open a Frontend GUI session

I am having a problem opening a GUI session on a client PC through the JCo java call. It works on some PC's when I am logged in, but not on my PC. But other persons who login on my PC do not have a problem with the application opening a GUI session. I am at a loss. I have had a basis consultant look into this and he could not find a reason for the problem. I have submitted a customer message to SAP and am being told to file this issue in the forum, so here it is. If this is the wrong forum, please let me know which forum would be the correct one.


Problem:
For test purposes, I have created a Java application using the SAP standalone SAPJCO3 vers. 3.0.1. The R/3 backend is 4.6C. The SAPGui version is 7.1 patch level 13 installed on a Windows XP Pro client PC. The application is supposed to start a Frontend GUI session as part of the initial process. This is not working on all PCu2019s for all users. The following are scenarios for two different users on two different PCu2019s, logged on and executing the Java application. The parameters for the Java application are: User, Password, and System Id in this order on the command line after the Java applicationu2019s name. The system Id in our example is PRP in uppercase. This problem happens while connecting to any of our R/3 instances.


Testing of the issue:
Scenario 1:
User gmcghie: This user is the primary user of his/her PC. This PC has not had its registry entries cleaned up for a long time. Starting the Java application from the Windows command line with the supplied parameters, the program is executed and makes the initial connection with the R/3 backend. When the R/3 system sends back a request to start the GUI session, the SAP Logon is executed and opens on the PC. Nothing seems to happen after this.

Here is the JCO exception from the log file:
JCoException eDest: (136)com.sap.conn.jco.JCoException: (136) JCO_ERROR_ILLEGAL_STATE: Launching SAP GUI failed, though it was requested (error message: Communication with SAPGUI timed out)


When you right click on the SAP Logon icon that is in the Windows System Tray on the PC you see an entry that shows a session for Client 000. This is the wrong client being called by the application. The client being called is 600 in this particular scenario.


Here is the connection string sent to backend for scenario 1:
TYPE=A DEST=PRP USER="gmcghie" PASSWD=********** CLIENT=600 LANG=E ASHOST=10.212.120.53 SYSNR=00 TRACE=1 PCS=1 USE_SAPGUI=2


Scenario 2:
User mshin: This user is the primary user of his/her PC. This PC has had the OS re-installed on it within the last few years, hence the registry is likely more clean. Starting the Java application from the Windows command line with the supplied parameters, the program is executed and makes the initial connection with the R/3 backend. When the R/3 system sends back a request to start the GUI session, the SAP Logon is executed and opens on the PC. The connection is made to Client 600 and the process ends. The screens that appear above for the other scenario are not present when the connection is successful. The log file is not included for this as it was empty because it succeeded.


Here is the connection string sent to backend for scenario 2:
TYPE=A DEST=PRP USER="mshin" PASSWD=********** CLIENT=600 LANG=E ASHOST=10.212.120.53 SYSNR=00 TRACE=1 PCS=1 USE_SAPGUI=2

I have the same issue on my PC as the first scenario.
The steps I took to try to get this to work are as follows.
1. Un-installed and re-installed the SAPGui, several times with no change.
2. Compared the registry settings of SAPGui between working and non-working PCu2019s. These were essentially the same.
3. Compared the system variables between working and non-working PCu2019s. These were essentially the same.
It should also be noted that if user u2018gmcghieu2019 from scenario #1 logs into another PC, the program executes correctly (for most other PCs but not all). Finally, if user u2018mshinu2019 from scenario #2 (certain other users as well) logs into Windows on the primary PC for user u2018gmcghieu2019 from scenario #1, and user u2018gmcghieu2019 is used to connect to SAP using the Java program, the program executes correctly. It seems that this would indicate some problem with the useru2019s Windows account on certain PCs.
Why is the connection information being dropped? How is the process of opening the SAPGui on the frontend done?
Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated.

Created Customer Message and got answer. There were settings in Windows Registry for starting the SAP Logon Launch Pad which had to have a value of 1.

I downloaded Firefox 4 and now Firefox doesn't offer to restore my session after I've rebooted. I really liked that feature of Firefox. How do I get it back?

I was happy with Firefox as it was. I had the latest version and it worked perfectly. Then I was notified by Firefox that I should update to Firefox 4. If I'd known it would wipe out my cookies and would not include my "restore session" button that I liked so much, I would not have downloaded Firefox 4. It doesn't offer to restore my browsing session after I reboot and I can't find a way to tell it to do that. Please fix this ASAP and tell me how to make it work on my computer! Thanks.

How do i reconnect mobile account home folders after re-install?

we have problems with our server interfering with the college server. It kept changing our hostname so i had to enable DNS on the second ethernet port on xserve which prevented it from changing it but now is messing up the network as our server is being used for dns by the rest of the college. So i either need to restrict our dns to only answer queeries from specific addresses i.e my laptop and colleagues and forward all of the rest to another dns server. Or i have to re-install the osx server software and change the name to correspond with their servers given name for our xserve. The problem with re-installing it is that the students have a lot of work in their home folders which i can't loose. But i'm aware that the mobile accounts will be tied to the old domain name. Is their any tips you can give us so that i don't loose their home folders and it will sync back the client machines after i have put the new domain name on. I'm also aware that you can export the usernames from workgroup manager but not the passwords. Is there anything else i need to do so that i can just reconnect their accounts to the existing home folders after re-install? In other words i need to know the easiest way to do this to reduce dissruption to students files? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Also will i have to delete the students local folders on their imacs and sync back from the server again?

ok reinstalled everything dns seems to be working have done sudo changeip -checkhostname and it says that both names match but then i started open directory and can't seem to get Kerberos started, i've tried changing it to stand alone then back again but it does nothing. I'm wondering why this would happen? i've tried adding a kerberos record but it doesn't do it just does nothing so i don't know what i'm doing wrong. I wondered if it might be a problem with the two network cards and dns as on ethernet one it is getting the dns name xserve.xxxx.ac.uk (which matches what the college server wants to call us) but on ethernet 2 gets xserve-2.local because it tells me that it already exists on ethernet one and renames it to this. I need to set up NAT so have ethernet coming in on port one and out again on port two. I wonder if my dns is backwards as its got the 192. address the NAT uses but its linked to the ethernet port one dns maybe this is the problem. would this cause open directory not to start kerberos?
