Can I Record My Acoustic Guitar With The Built-in Mic?

Hi everybody!
I've been wondering that can i record the acoustic sound of my guitar with the built-in micro in my Powerbook G4?
Because my guitar doesn't have the out-put port for the cable that's why i want to use the Mic included in the PWB or the one built-in in my webcam(with USP port)....
Could anybody tell me how to set it up please?Thanks for your helps.

By Default your PowerBooks should be ready to record with the PB's Built-Mic. just create a New Basic Track and hit record.

Recording an acoustic guitar through the internal mic - quality terrible

Hey guys,
I have had my MacBook Pro for almost a year now, and since I got it I always used Garageband to record stuff straight from my acoustic through the internal mic. Now, it seems like after 5 or so seconds, the sound quality goes way down, and I get some sort of flange-like effect. Everything starts sounding really muddy and the strumming turns into really bass-y noise. I haven't made any changes or anything, and I tried it with vocals and guitar, guitar, and vocals, each have the same effect. The sound quality sounds fine on playback for the first few seconds and then it drops. No effects are enabled - its on basic track.
Any suggestions? This is extremely irritating!

hey there skank,
i don't know what's wrong w/ your Mac, but it maybe time to invest in an external mic, an outboard mixer or a digital(FW/USB) interface & mic combo. i don't think the internal is the greatest for making music. just a thought. a mdest mixer from Behringer is around $60.00 & a decent cardioid dynamic mic is around $80.00-100.00.

editing or Camera. On my Camera button there is a smal black triangle.
Click on this and select iSight.

I can not sync my iCloud email with the built in Windows 8.1 mail app. I've looked on Apple's website and followed instructions for entering the mail settings but every single time I have tried it will not connect. Any ideas?

In System prefs I don't have the built in mic as a choice. How can I get it back?

Hi can anyone tell me how to get the built in mic to show up in Sounds in Sys Prefs? Right now all I get is "line in... built in audio".

Mute the built-in mic

My MBA has a built-in mic. I want to capture a streaming audio from time to time that is coming in on Safari. I can use QTPro to do this but unfortunately it also captured on the same track the background noise coming through on the MBAs built-in Mic.
Is there a way to "mute" the built-in mic? I cannot see anything on the Sound preference panel/

Hmm, after further review. I think what is happening is that QTPro is only recording the built-in mic - actually listening to the speaker output and then capturing that and not the streaming what is coming through the "sound card" directly. I can stream and hear it with the built-in mic muted, but it will not record. Hmm.
Any suggestions?

I'm trying to multi-track using an m-audio device, I can record my guitar fine. However, I want to create a new track so I can record an acoustic tambourine over the top. Instead it records the original guitar as well as tambourine? its really annoying

I've managed to record over the top of a guitar before and add diferent riffs and sounds but I've tried all of the settings but its still not working. Basically I want to record different tracks without it recording my previous guitar riffs as well. Help would really be appreciated.

do you have any thing plugged into wall power? Audio interface, computer, speakers, amp for the guitar? if so are they all plugged into the same power strip? if so, have you tried another outlet?
Altertively have you tried a diffrent port on the combo jack? Have you tried a diffrent guitar cable? Have you tried a diffrent guitar or audio input device like a mic? Is the device directly plugged into the combo jack, or is it being routed throughs some thing?

I can record voice memos fine using the built-in iPhone 4 mic. And my Bluetooth headset (Jawbone Era) works fine when I leave messages on voice mail systems etc. when calling on the iPhone 4. However, I cannot record voice memos with my Bluetooth mic.

Hello, did you ever get an answer to your question? I just picked up a Jawbone Era and using on an iPhone 4s running 5.0.1. Seems to work fine on regular calls, but not on the built in Voice memos application. It worked fine on my older Jawbone Icon, but haven't tested on the 4s or iOS 5.

I realised that you just need to go to System Preferences > Sound > Input > and uncheck 'Use ambient noise reduction'. mmm answered my own question.

Recording an acoustic guitar on basic track and am getting effects. How do I stop them?

I just changed to a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 and am having problems getting it set up. I download the drivers and software but when I go to open them up, it is blank. The other problem is that I just tried to record an acoustic guitar and I get little volume all the way max and I get effects, eg, flange, reverb and echo on the track. Help. Thanks. Tom
I am running it on a MAc Pro i7 OSX 10.9

I have downloaded the add-on and the popup blocker was already in place. It is too soon to tell if it works but I will let you know in a few days.
One additional piece of information...I am getting a pop-up (despite the blocker) that asks if I want to download a JScript File from http://tag.admeld.com. I have not asked for this and I have responded to "cancel" but I suspect that this is where the auditory pop-up is coming from. The file is "meld.js"
I believe that this happened once before and despite clicking "cancel" an auditory ad ran while I was listening to something else.
If this is coming from one source, I'd like to block it....Suggestions are welcome.
A later comment... I have not gotten any auditory popups in the last few hours, but I keep getting the above "meld.js" popup. I assume that this is a Java Script program but I have not requested it and would like to know what it is and why it is coming up over and over again.

You have two basic options. One is to use a commercial screen recording app with access to system audio built into the app and the other is to add a system extension like SoundFlower that allows the QT X screen recorder to access/record the system audio. I use the former so I am not that familiar with SoundFlower but there should be several posts to this forum covering this topic.
