Can I recover an older saved version of a file?

I had a file with recorded audio in GarageBand. I later took the same file, and deleted the old audio information, and accidentally saved it again without doing save as, thus losing the original version of the file. Is there any way to recover the earlier version?
Thanks

Actually, recovery is impossible because the original data would be overwritten with the current data. It would be a different situation if the original file was left intact, copied, then the copy modified, then the original file mistakenly erased.

  • Can I recover a previously saved version of a file?

    I'm working in CS3.
I opened a file (saved as #3) and used it as a template for a new design, but before saving the new design with a new file name (that would be #4) I accidently hit the save shortcut. I do not have enough undos to go back to how #3 originally was. I have kept the file open.
How can I get #3 back?
    Many thanks.

I can open it in reader as the original #3 art too...
Whaaa? How is that possible if you had already hit save in Illustrator (which would have overwritten your original #3)?
If somehow you are seeing what you want in Reader, quickly do a 'Save a Copy.' The resulting PDF might not give you fully editable Illustrator objects, but it might let you salvage some of the work.

  • Older saved version of PDF in Adobe reader

How do I open an older saved version of a pdf in adobe reader. I do not have a 'revert' option.
I deleted a section in the document. closed the document and saved. I want to go back to an earlier version of the document to retrieve the deleted section.

    Look at your backups.

Can I retrived an auto-saved version of a project after opening the saved version by accident?

    Unfortunately, no.
Opening the (last) "Saved" version after a crash automatically discards the contents of the (invisible) autosave folder.

  • Can I recover an older i-Cloud back up?

Can I recover an older i-Cloud back up? One of the so called "Genius" at an Apple store backed up the "restored" info on my iPhone without telling me until after he had completed the process.  I had already backed up to iCloud prior to restoring my iPhone 5 (nothing but problems with this phone). I have a back up on my PC from February 2013 but have since added contacts and photos/videos.

I am going to copy and paste, since you don't seem to read through
Then yes, and you will see that back up available to you.
You can check it by going to storage and back up under icloud and clicking manage back ups.

Just wondering peter what you think, instead of output to pdf you copy and then create create new file in photoshop and paste into that file. Is that sort of the same thing?
Seems to be ok especially if you enlarge the object before you copy it into photoshop.
I think what you are pasting (never bothered to try this) is just the screen preview, hence the need to enlarge. Why would you waste your time doing that instead of exporting to a high-res PDF?

Over the past couple of years multiple updates of Firefox have occurred on my PC. They are showing up in my downloads--3.6.3; 4.0.1; 5.0.1; 6.0.1 and 6.0.
I would like to delete the older version, but I don't want to create a problem.
Is it ok to delete the older download versions?

You can safely delete the those older install (setup) files as there is no need to install such old versions.

I want to be able to open a file in Preview and SaveAs (now Export) my changes, without having Preview then save those changes in the original file when I close the window.  I know that I can use Revert to get back to the original, but is is time consuming and annoying to have to do so.  How can I stop Lion from using versions??

  • How can I recover a book I started from a file?

I have recently installed the iPhoto 9.2.1 from App Store.
I am having many problems with iPhoto after an electrical cut when I was working with it.
First, when I opened iPhoto immediately after that, many of the events appeared in black box, when I open a file of these,  black boxes appears, photos could not being seeing, but click in one, the photo appears.
I realized that those files I did not working with them for long.
I am interested to recover them, How could I do it?
I copy iPhoto Library into a external hard disc to safe and start from the beginning. I need to work in one book.
Second,The photos for that book were in the external hard disc. I imported them into iPhoto and start working. I thought that everything was solved out.
This morning when I opened the computer and iPhoto, My work, begun the previous day, was not there, iPhoto ask me if I want to recover iPhoto Library and  thinking that that was my last work, I said yes.
But it was not, It was the old library, but the work that interests me has disappeared.
How can I recover this work I started? It must be in some place.
    Thanks for your advice

Sorry, it'll be impossible for any of us (the forum regulars) to post in this thread without making obvious suggestions like this; it's safe to ignore these suggestions, I understand that you are powerless here to make reasonable suggestions like "Fire the incompetent translation firm that can't keep up with its clients and retain one that actually has the licenses for the apps necessary to complete the project."  If nothing else, all of the people who search Google for the phrase "translation downsave CS5 CS4 book" will learn that the best answer is "tell your translation supplier that they will lose your business if they fail to upgrade."
But in your case - no, I know of no such script to re-save a CS4 book from IDMLs spat out of CS5. The scripting forum is thataway; maybe they know of a script someone else has already written for this purpose. Mostly because, especically in a book file, one of the steps before saving the INDDs and book in CS4 should be "a human compares the IDML opened in CS4 against the INDDs in CS5, or PDFs generated from same, before Saving As CS4 INDD."

  • Can't import video sequences saved as mpeg-2 files for video editing

    this is urgent!!!
is there a way of importing video sequences saved as mpeg-2 files? i don't have the dv tapes nor the videocam right now but need to edit the files pronto.
i can do this on a windows xp computer with pinnacle studio 9 except that someone else is using the computer also to meet an urgent deadline.
thank you for any help. btw, i'm a newbie w/ final cut.

FCE does not support that type of file. It is DV only editing program.
Depending on exactly what you have (do you have the orginal DVDs or VOB files) you could use something like DVxDVD to rip the files. MPEG Streamclip does this for free but you need the Apple MPEG2 compenent to work it. FFMEG is a shareware program ... it may be able to do this, but I'm not sure

  • Can I backward install older iPhoto version

I recently purchased a new MacBook Air that comes with the new iPhoto 9.5.1 pre-installed. I've read all the negative comments about this version in the upgrade reviews. My 1 year old iMac with 350 GB of photos using iPhoto 9.4.3 works perfectly! I have that library on an external hard drive and would like to use it with my new MacBook Air, but when iPhoto wants to open the library on my MB Air in 9.5.1, it says it will have to "UPGRADE" the iPhoto library thus making it INCOMPATIBLE with my iMac version 9.4.3. Is there a way for me to un-install the new iPhoto 9.5.1 on the MacBook Air and install version 9.4.3? As these are simply updates to the original, what version do i need to install first and where do i get this version? Would it be on my original iLife disc?
Thanks to any and all for your advice.

If you haven't run iPhoto 9.5 on your older library you can copy iPhoto 9.4.3 from your iMac to your MBA and use it with the library.
If you have run 9.5 on your library already and don't have a backup that's a 9.4.3 version you can downgrade the library by following this iPhoto Library Manager tutorial: Fat Cat Software - iPhoto Library Manager Help - Downgrading a library to an earlier version of iPhoto
