Can I recover imessage texts?

I accidently deleted all my messages on imessage and they're not SMS. I have an iOS 7 iphone 4s and a PC, is it possible for me to recover my mesagges? I really need them.

If they are queued up they will just be delivered when you turn iMessage on again
However they may have been sent back as unable to be delivered back to the sender
No way of knowing for sure

Generally, you can't but... try sending a text to the person and see if some of their conversation(s) returns.  I've seen this happen a few times.

  • How can I recover deleted texts on my iphone 5?

Does anyone know of a program that I can use to recover delted texts from my iphone 5 or is there a way I can do it from the phone?  First time ever needing to do this and not quite sure how to go about it...
Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

No I usually delete texts when they are annoying right away - scammers and things like that.  I feel like I have seen the same number more than once now though and I was curious if it was.  I think I can go through my cellular records and compare the numbers but would like to have the content to.  I will check to see if I have a back up for then but I doubt it - pretty sure I have backed up since then.
    Thanks!

  • Yosemite 10.10- can't make iMessage text bigger.

Using Yosemite 10.10.  A few questions:
I used to be able to make the fonts larger, I'd set them at size 24. Now the only option is to make the text bigger. But, it doesn't get very big at all.
    Am I missing something?
Also can't change the font to the style I want. It seems to be a default font.
Anyone have any ideas? Or is this the way it is in Yosemite?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Once you hit the the Reply Button you see the free text reply area.
As well as having a title about who you are replying to it has a tool bar section, in sort of boxed off areas.
You can format th text, create Lists or post pics or add Links, Smilies, various Quote indicators, Spellcheck or go to the HTML Mode.
The Post Pics icon is a camera.
Clicking this brings up a dialogue.
This is not restricted only to look at your own computer (rather than any Web Site loaded pic).
It tends to "Browse" your Desktop as the default option but once you navigate somewhere else it will remember that for the next time.
Anyway you select the Pic and then use the Insert Picture button and the pic is place where the cursor is/was.
If this is something you are going to repeatedly use you can go to the HTML view and grab the HTML for the line(s) that place the picture.
I have the HTML for the Helpful, thanks the Correct Thanks, and my Signature Block plus a couple for Christmas and New Year.
These are stored in TextExpander (It uses shortened keystrokes to insert longer text into a document and I save the HTML).
So the HTML of this post up to the New Year looks like this:-
(I resized the width before I grabbed it.)
The Helpful Pic bit looks like this:-
    <p><img alt="4thanx.gif" class="jive-image" src="https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-23568841-31964 3/4thanx.gif"/></a> for the <img alt="1helpful.png" class="jive-image" src="https://discussions.apple.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-23568841-31967 2/1helpful.png"/></a>&#160; Points</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p> </p>
So you have probably worked out the
    <p> </p>
Creates a new line and acts like a paragraph when text is in between.
    In simple terms
    <img src=" " />
is the "show a pic here" HTML.  Adding the alt="nameof Pic" means a text name will show if the pic does not.
The class="jive-image" that also inserted between the img and the src parts is used by the software fro the site to state how the css of the web page displays the pic
The Signature Block is obviously longer as it has the Pic, The TextExpander "Code" to show the current date and time then the Info section all wrapped up in a <div> block that prevents the Search reading it.

  • How can I recover deleted text messages from my iPhone 5 using my iphone 5

I deleted some of my text messages and now I need them back.

Did you back up the phone before deleting the messages?  If so, restore the backup.  If not, they're gone.
Don't trust web sites that claim to have software that recovers without a backup - they are scams and identity theft sites.

  • How can I recover old text messages? I didnt have a back up.

Someone erased my Iphone and I lost everything. It was fairly new so I didnt have a back up.
Those messages urgently needed. Can anyone help me get them back?
    Thank you

FYI, iOS 7 has a feature that you can enable that will prevent this from happening again.  Before you can erase all content & settings, you'd have to enter in your Apple ID password
Also, a passcode lock will prevent unauthorized access as well.
And, as KiltedTIme said, backups are a good thing.  iCloud can back up your data automatically for you.
Learn from this painful life lesson so that it doesn't happen again.

The best way and only way is to restore from your backup, if that backup included your text message.

We are suffering very similar issues when communicating from my iphone to a friend who has both iphone and iPad enabled.
As long as I reply to an existing text chain, then it is visible on the target iphone.  If I SMS the phone number, it gets routed to the IPAD!!   And NO, I should not have to disable imessage when I want to send an SMS!!

I'll never buy another one if I can't text using SMS or MMS.  Is there any hope for a patch or new operating system to fix this issue, or an app to use with iPad Air

  • How can I recover my deleted text messages

I need to recover some messages that I accidentally deleted

What can you do to recover deleted text messages from iPhone?
Step 1: Select Your iPhone Backup File and Scan
Launch the Coolmuster Data Recovery for iPhone/iPad/iPod program which you've installed on your Mac, then it will automatically scan the latest iPhone, iPad or iPod backup file on your local disk and display one by one as below picture shows. Just choose your iPhone and hit "Start Scan" button to start scanning for files on Mac.
Step 2: Preview and Find Target Files
After the scanning, all your iPhone files will be found and divided into different catogories. Here, you can click "Messages" option in the left panel and find your deleted text messages one by one.
    Step 3: Begin to Recover
Once all things have been done, you can click "Recover" to restore deleted text messages from iPhone on Mac. Here, a pop-up window will appear to require you to set the output folder.

  • Can't receive normal text messages after updating to iOS5, only iMessages

Over the summer I bought iOS5 from a developer and had it on my phone for about a month until it crashed and I had to restore from a backup. So I put iOS5 back on my phone, and it crashed it again. I decided to wait until yesterday to put it back on, because it was legit and through Apple. Now I can't receive normal text messages from non-iPhone users. I'm only receiving iMessages. The only way to fix it is to turn off iMessage, but that's one of the main features of the update. Help?

i may put my iphone in the toaster tonight i am so $%#@!*^ frustrated.
i have an iphone 4 which i upgraded to ios5 about 4 days ago. yesterday, i realized i wasn't able to receive any text messages, but was (and am still getting imessages), along with the ever-so-vague 'sms mailbox is full, delete some text messages' alert.
so i came to the internet to find out about the supposed 15mb (75k*) limit. Apple's solution on their own site was 'hey, crazy hoarder, why don't you delete some texts?? there you go, EASY PEAZY!' except that didn't work...for me, and a ton of other people apparently.
i came down from 76something to around 67k.
I hard restarted, i ignored it, i deleted more texts, i bought phoneview, i deleted MORE texts, more restarts, NOTHING. it has now been 48 hours with no texts. NEED I ASSURE YOU THAT I AM A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON (as we all are).
so i backed up my phone (again, as i did before the upgrade), and restored it to factory nothingness. restart. restart. stare blankly. no texts.
then, i go to restore from backup (via itunes) so i can at least get all my contacts and whatnot back. lo and behold, my backup is gone. only the option to set up my 'new' iphone. i delay utter panic for a brief second and silently pray to the angel steve, sitting upon his giant white icloud, remembering that i actually paid for extra icloud space and backed up to that as well.
now i'm just waiting for it to restore AT LEAST my contacts, which it now seems to have done by the time i've typed this. PARTIAL crisis averted.
alas, i STILL am not getting any text messages. it seems that calling apple does nothing since apparently no one was told about this and/or how to fix this. i cannot receive text messages from my boyfriend, my parents, my colleagues who all are iphoneless and better off than me at this point.
i am leaving for a business trip in 12 hours. i'd like to figure this out before i put this thing in the garbage disposal or violently smash and use it's parts as confetti. although by the time i do, i will probably have lost all my friends and been disowned by my family for ignoring their jokes / emoticons / cries for help.
i fear apple has become a sentient being, and this is it's way of forcing all people of earth to use iphones...for there will be no other way to communicate with each other once we evolve and are all born with giant thumbs instead of vocal chords...hold me im scared...
    it's so dark here...

    Hi Toniann,
If you have a recent iCloud backup that was done when that message was on the devcie, you can restore from that backup.
No, Apple does not keep your messages, no do they have access to them. That would be a serious invasion of privacy, don't you think?
