Can I recover lost contacts?

A little kid wiped out my phone a little while ago probably a month but he wiped out all the data by inputting the wrong code too many times and I was able to redownload all my lost media and stuff and most of my contacts were saved. However, a few of the contacts weren't and I was wondering if its possible to recover them?

    Hi there DaveBrock,
Those kids can be quite destructive when it comes to technology sometimes! Did you previously have your contacts backed up anywhere? Google, Backup Assistant, Verizon Cloud? If yes, then you should be able to recover them from there. If not, there wouldn't be a way for us to recover lost contacts.

Do you have any other devices connected to iCloud - have you checked whether the contacts are still there? - though it's likely that the contacts would have been deleted there as part of the syncing process - try turning the internet connection off before checking. I'm afraid that deleted from the server is deleted: the only other way you can recover your data is if you had a Time Machine or other backup.

If all your files are missing
You may have logged in as a different user, such as Guest. Open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. Your name should be at the top of the user list, under Current User. See also this support article.
If files are missing from one folder
Change the Finder view mode; for example, from icon view to list view, or vice versa.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer files/docs/pics/music/etc
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • I lost all my contact list after i deleted the me accout from my mail list. How can i recover the contact list ?

Hi, kindly let me know if i can recovered my contact list after i deleted "mobile Me (which has been expired) account form my I-phone list

The contacts should be available in a supported address book app for syncing contacts with a former MobileMe and now with an iCloud account. This has been in the works for a year and you should have received an email - several emails about MobileMe going away and how to make the switch to a freeiCloud account.

  • Can i recover lost data from encrypted drive by Bitlocker

Hello Dears. I had encrypted my drive by Bitlocker in windows 7.
few days after my friend did quick format in my encrypted drive.
my 300 gb of data lost. and nothing saved
    i remember unlock password.
how can i recover my data ??? i need my data
i tried drive recovering tools (advanced EFS data recovery, easeus . . ,) . but . . . it's encrypted and formatted drive.
can i undo quick format and decrypt ???
sorry my english is not good.
    someone help me please.

BitLocker is not the cause of failed to recover files.
Format a drive will clear all data saved on the hard disk. Thus recovery formatted data will be a hard disk based technology but not related to operation system. There is no build-in data recovery feature in Windows operations. So we will needto use third party recovery tool or contact third party data recovery company for current issue.
As recovery missing data service will be expensive, we can also check emails and contact friends to see if that can help get a part of files back especially for photos, documents etc.

  • Can i recover lost notes from an old time machine back up?

I found this doom and gloom advice, but isn't there a way to go to an old back up on my time machine and find the file?

Re: lost notes     Oct 1, 2009 8:59 PM    (in response to Sybil Clanton)
Where did you synch them to? If you synced then TO your Mac, you can get them back:
iTunes > Devices > your phone > Info > Notes (check sync notes), Advanced - Replace Info on this iPhone - check Notes. If you had "Replace" checked when you did your last synch, the notes were replaced by whatever had previously been synched to your Mac (nothing?) and are unfortunately permanently lost.

Thank you for your response! I read that their is a product called Wondershare that will recover contacts directly from the phone and that the data is still in there somewhere. This program is $80 and before I purchase, I just want to make sure it will actually recover those contacts.

  • Recovering lost contacts from Address Book

Can anyone help me with recovering my contacts.
I have just completed the iphone 3.0 update and for some reason deleted most of my contacts.
I recently did a time machine update... is there any way of getting them back through that?
I know i can get to a file through Library/Application Support/Address Book. But not sure how to get them imported back into the address book.
Can anyone please help as i have lost nearly 200 contacts and e-mail addresses. what a nightmare! Any help would be fantastic.

When you log into iCloud with your browser, do you see your contacts online?
If yes, go to System Preferences > iCloud > toggle sync contacts on/off.
You might need to run the combo installer.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 (Update (Combo)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1746
MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES
Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install. So if you think you've got a borked 10.8.4 install from a regular update, just run the 10.8.4 Combo Updater on that system.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.9.1 to 10.9.2. If somehow the 10.9.2 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.9.1 and 10.9.2 it will still be stale after the delta update.

  • I haven't backed up iPhone 4s, can I recover deleted contact ?

Hi, the other day for some reason I lost all my contacts on my IPhone 4S.
I have search everywhere I can think of to find a way to recover them but nothing worked.
So can anyone please tell me how I can recover my contacts?
I can’t use iTunes because I don't have the backup.
I even downloaded software that said it could recover my contacts without using iTunes but that didn't work either.
So if there is anyone out there that can tell me how I can recover deleted contacts from iPhone 4S, please tell me. Thanks

If you plug your phone into your computer you can sync and backup so that when you get the new phone you can restore from a backup instead of setting it up as a new iphone

  • How to recover lost contacts (i just back up my iphone 5)

I just back up my iphone 5 before updating for the new update.
After back up from 900+ contacts it became 142.
    so i lost 800+ contacts.
how can i recover my lost contacts?

if they are showing in the device as a ghost contact, your best bet would be to restore from the backup:
iCloud and iTunes can back up most data on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Backed-up information includes purchased music, TV shows, apps, and books*; photos and video in the Camera Roll; device settings (for example, Phone Favorites, Wallpaper, and Mail, Contacts, Calendar accounts); app data; Home screen and app organization; Messages (iMessage, SMS, and MMS), ringtones, and more. Media files synced from your computer aren’t backed up, but can be restored by syncing with iTunes.
    * Backup of purchased music is not available in all countries. Backup of purchased TV shows occurs only in the United States. Previous purchases may not be restored if they are no longer in the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.

    iCloud
    How to back up
iCloud automatically backs up the most important data on your device using iOS 5 or later. After you have enabled Backup on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in Settings > iCloud > Backup & Storage, it will run on a daily basis as long as your device is:
Connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi
    Connected to a power source
    Screen locked
You can also back up manually whenever your device is connected to the Internet over Wi-Fi by choosing Back Up Now from Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup. To learn more about what is backed up, see the iCloud: Backup and Restore Overview article.
How to restore from a backup
When you go through Setup Assistant on a new device using iOS 5 or later, choose "Restore from iCloud Backup" and enter your iCloud account and password. You will see the three most recent backups for each of the devices on which you enabled Backup. Choose from which backup to restore. If the home screen icons appear on your device and you wish to restore from an iCloud backup, erase your device (by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings). When prompted to set up as new or to restore from previous backup, select Restore from iCloud Backup. Enter your AppleID and password when prompted. After your device restarts, your settings and accounts are restored and Backup starts downloading your purchased music, TV shows, apps, books, Camera Roll, and other content*. For best battery performance, leave your device connected to a power source until the restore is complete. You may be prompted to enter the passwords for all accounts enabled on your device.A progress bar will appear underneath the apps that are being downloaded. To prioritize the restore of a specific app, tap its icon. Restore will attempt to download the same version of the app that you had installed previously. If that version is no longer available, the latest version of the app will be restored. To check if the restore is complete, go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup.
