An annoying idiosyncrasy, IMO. If someone goes to the effort to rename a track, GB should have the good manners to leave it alone... at least on real audio tracks where a renamed track is likely to be more meaningful than the name of an effect.
Of course, if someone wanted to change an effect, they shouldn't not do that because of the name thing - they can always change the effect and rename the track back to whatever they want. But still!

  • Can't rename video tracks in Premiere CC??

Most of my projects consists of 40 -50 video tracks, so renaming the video tracks are the upmost importance.  Everytime I try to rename a video track it's greyed out, but I can rename audio tracks with no problem.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Have you found out all the different ways you can increase the track size in PProCC? And that you can save settings?

  • Can't Rename video tracks in Bootcamp

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 on my Macbook Pro on the Windows 7 bootcamped partition. I try to rename my video tracks by right clicking (or control clicking for that matter) but all that happens is they become highlighted or unhighlighted (or nothing if the track is locked). My right click works for other applications as well as other parts of Premiere (renaming the sequence, etc) but not the video tracks. How can I fix this?

Make sure that you are Rt-clicking ON the Track Name in the Track Header. Otherwise, you will just Target the Track. Depending on your screen rez, you might have to be very exact with cursor placement. It can be rather like finding the vertical zoom handles, between Tracks - a pixel hunt!
[Edit] Just tried this in PrPro 2.0 (obviously on a PC), and the cursor position was not anywhere near as critical, as I suspected. Anywhere in the Header got me the Rename option. Guess that I always did it right on the Track Name, and made an incorrect assumption. Sorry for that.
I've not heard of Bootcamp loosing the Renaming capabilities, but have to admit to being a PC-only guy.
    Good luck,

  • I can't name/rename folder tracks

This is just a quickie — I can't seem to name/rename folder tracks as I can instrument, bus, aux etc. tracks by clicking on its name in the respective Object boxes. This doesn't seem to be set-up specific as the same problem occurs on both my PowerBook and my MacBook. Is this a known bug? Is there a work around?
Note that I have aaaaaaaaaall the updates.
    Thanks fellahs

    Hello d. reamonn
You can name/rename folders exactly like you can tracks.
There are two possibilities: Hold down OPTION key and click on the word Folder. A box will appear and you type in the name you want.
Or for a second naming of the folder do the same operation with COMMAND and click

  • Tried to rename some tracks in a playlist and it renamed EVERYTHING IN MY MASSIVE LIBRARY!! Now all my ID3 tags are wrong!  THOUSANDS OF THEM!

Had some home-made music I wanted to bring into my library which had no Meta info, so in the past I'd create a playlist so I can easily find the new additions amid my 25,000 songs, and give them proper meta info.  Tried this today with latest iTunes and when I renamed one track, it applied those changes to my whole library before I realized what was happening and stopped it.  Now I have 8000 tracks that all think they're on an album called "Acoustic Glory".  Go ahead and try to replicate this, I dare you.  It's a tried-and-true BUG! Now I'm screwed.  What am I gonna manually adjust the meta on 8000 tracks? Fat chance. I tried some 3rd party apps that pull from the internet but they never work.  Thanks a lot iTunes 11, for ruining my music life.  Would love to get some easy fix suggestion from an apple expert.

This "original file cannot be found" thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .

  • Why Can't I Import Track 10 from my Music Library?

I have 350 albums in my computer music library and I can't import any track 10 song from an album to iTunes. The message I get is: "The file 10 <Whatever Song Name>.wma cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file." This happens on every track 10 title in my library and on one track 1 title that is 14 minutes long. Help!

I am a PC user, but this may help you??:
I am having the same problem with track 10 on two Springsteen CDs that would not play in my desktop PC (one was a dual dvd, the other a regular CD). So first, to get them to work, I had to find a source (my laptop) that would "see" the CD. Then I ripped to Windows Media, then copied onto an external hard drive, then imported into iTUnes.
Everything went well until track 10 on both (After that, the rest of the tracks imported okay on one CD, and then on the other track 11 had a problem, but the rest ok).I found a posting (see below for the link) and it solved the problem on track 10 on both (basically I changed the track# to another number else in the Properties/ Summary/ Advanced section). However it didn't work for that one track 11. So if anyone has ideas on that, I'd appreciate it. I tried fiddling with all the differnt categories in Summary (track name, album name, etc) and rename the song itself, removing the number, but to no avail. Here is the posting that I found the solution on

  • Renaming streamed tracks

when i open certain vbr.m3u streams, itunes will rename one track and not the others, placing it out of order and making it very difficult and frustrating to try to keep organized-is this an itunes issue or one with the website (archive.org)-any suggestions as to how i can fix this?
    thank you

You can in fact get the track names after the fact if you have imported them with iTunes. Highlight all tracks in the same cd go to advanced>get cd/track? information - oh and make sure you are on line!!
The way Gracenotes works is to compare the number of tracks and track lenghths in thier correct order to its database to come up with the CD information - that is why sometimes you will be presented with 2 or more options for the CD info

  • Renaming of tracks = color wheel. Any ideas?

    Hello everyone,
I recently transfered my entire song to another file via the methods explained in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=3483707#3483707
Now, in this new song, renaming tracks using "option-double click" causes the "spinning color wheel" to occur. After about a min the color wheel disappears and I'm able to rename the track, but this has me worried as there is NO WAY my system should be choking on renaming tracks!
I have ran onyx and repaired the disk permissions before I made this song transfer, and everything seemed to be working fine for the past few days. Only today did I decide to rename my tracks for temp mixing purposes and noticed this problem.
What is going on? Should I be concerned?

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
    Regards
    TD

  • Rename CD Tracks?

Can I manually rename the tracks of a CD that lists only Track numbers? The CD I am importing to iTunes is converted from home recorded audio cassettes.

    Hi appleseeker2,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  You can rename tracks and add other information to songs you've imported into iTunes by following this article:

  • Problem Renaming iTunes Tracks

I'd pull my hair out if I had more of it. Periodically, when renaming a track in iTunes the name reverts right before my eyes, when I play the track right after renaming it!
    My process:
    1. I find the track to rename
    2. I select Get Info for the track
    3. I select the field "Name"
    4. I edit the track name
    5. I press "OK"
    6. I go to play the song and the old track name reappears instead of the one I just entered!
I've even tried renaming the track in the Finder, so that the edit of the name is now in both the Finder and iTunes, and still iTunes reverts it back to the old name.
Important to Note: This is not a usual occurrence, but happens enough to push me to the edge ...   ;<)

It now sounds like the files have tags.  Some file formats (mentioned before) do not accept tags, and I think some that do may not have tags until they are created.  At least, in my old version of iTunes there is a "create ID3 tags" feature under Advanced and it creates several different versions as well as "none".
iTunes works this way.  You add a file; it reads the tag data (if any) and uses that to fill in entries for that data in its own database (Library.itl), so there's some redundancy here.  If you edit the tag, iTunes changes the information in the database and re-writes the file with the new tag data.  If you use a third party editor to change a tag in a file, it will not change in iTunes until you play or activate reading the file, at which time iTunes compares the file tags to its own database and if they differ it updates its  database to match the file tags.  For some reason when you are now changing a tag in iTunes it seems it is not re-writing the file.  It is changing the data in its own database, but when you play the file it is comparing the datasets, seeing the file has different, and changing it all back again.  I don't know why.  I have seen this happen before and reverted to using a third party editor (MP3Rage) to change the tags on the file.  Tagging protocol isn't cast in stone.  It is possible your dBpoweramp is playing by slightly different tagging rules than iTunes, and iTunes cannot edit the tags in those files but it can still read them.
    Things to try:
If the new iTunes still has the create tags feature see if creating the tags will let them be edited.
    Use a third party editor.

  • Can't rename folders on Snow Leopard Server

I have 10.6.8 Snow Leopard Server running on a new Mac Mini server. Attached I have a Pegasus Raid storing all my files. I have a sharepoint set up for every project we work on but a couple act strangely. Users can create and delete folders but can not rename them once created. In order to rename they must drag the folder onto the desktop, rename and then replace the folder on the server. All permissions are set up identical to the other sharepoints which work fine. I have had a couple so-called "experts" look at the permissions in both the terminal and Server Admin. Everyone seems stumped. Any ideas?

Thanks for the input but I finally soved the problem. Here is what I found...
Although I had given users/group the ALLOW/FULL CONTROL premission with a sharepoint, I discovered that in Server Admin if you double-click on the User or Group name under the ACL permissions that a drop down box appears. This box allows you to fine tune the ACL but it appears that by default all of the boxes are not checked even though I granted the user Full Control. After checking all of the boxes I was able to create and rename folders in my share as expected.
This also had an similar effect if I denied Full Control. Some of the boxes remained unchecked and it left holes in my system where denied users could still access some files. Again by checking all boxes these holes were closed.
Does anyone know how to change the default so that all boxes are checked when assigning the Full Control permission?
