Can I renew/purchase AppleCare after it has expired?

I have a MacBook that I purchased back in 2010.  I could have sworn I renewed my AppleCare before the first year was up, but I apprently didn't.  My computer has been acting up and now that I have OS Mavericks it's getting mucked up even more.  I just want to bring it into a store to have someone fix it, but I don't have AppleCare and was wondering if it's still possible to purchase it even though it has expired.  I'm a PhD student so I don't have a lot of money to be throwing around to spend on repairs or buying a new computer in general.
Thanks!

The answer is No. Extended Apple Care cannot be purchased after the first year.
However, you can make an appointment with an Apple "genius" at your local Apple store and have her / him look at your Macbook. The diagnosis is free. And if there is no hardware to be replaced, this will cost you nothing.
The Apple store will do a complete diagnosis, and any necessary software tweeks at no cost.

Can I renew my Applecare Protection Plan that is due to run out?

Applecare is designed as an extended warranty for a set period (beyond the original manufacturer's warranty). It is a one time deal and not at all intended as an open ended insurance policy. If you have issues, you can still contact apple, but may have to pay for the call. You can post issues here. Visit an Apple store genius bar or authorized service center (which may involve charges for an services performed). Basically, it is what would happen for any electronic device that is out of warranty.

  • Where do I find my photos after trial has expired

where do I find my photos after trial has expired

where do I find my photos after trial has expired
Just one little addition to add to Kirby's spot-on answer: Are you worried, if you will still have access to your photos after the trial licence expired? Without a valid Aperture licence you will still be able to access the original master image files, but not to the edited versions. From what Kirby Krieger told you, it is clear that you will have access to referenced master image files, located outside the library. If your library is managed you can access the master files inside the Aperture Library Package by ctrl-clicking the Aperture Library and selecting: "Show Package contents". The original master image files are located inside the folder "Masters". Here is what my Aperture Library Package looks like:

  • Does apple replace batteries in India after warranty has expired?

Does apple replace batteries in India after warranty has expired?

How much does iPhone Battery Replacement Service cost?
Service arranged through Apple costs $79. A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if this service requires shipping. All fees are in U.S. dollars and are subject to local tax.
Secondarly this depends on the country that you are doing this at and if the device has warrenty coverage (IE: Bought there)

  • My limited warranty seems to have expired before 1 year of purchase date, why? also, can I still purchase AppleCare?

So I purchased my iMac in the first days of December 2010. It's not a year since that and today when I checked the support status, it says it has expired. Does anybody have an idea of what happened here? Also, could I still be able to buy AppleCare? I read that you can purchase it up to a month after the limited warranty's over, but I don't know if that's still possible today. Does anyone know? Thanks.

This is what I found on Apple's Support page.
    5. Can I extend service coverage on my MacBook beyond the 1-year warranty?
The AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook extends hardware repair service and technical support coverage to three years from your MacBook’s original date of purchase. You can only purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan while your MacBook is covered under Apple's One-Year Limited Warranty.
    You can look there, too.

  • Can I edit a form after it has been submitted?

    For example:
I have a Purchase Request form that is filled out by the person requesting the purchase and after submission, our financial advisor has to fill in additional data in the same form.

The form is created in Acrobat X Pro.  I uploaded it to FormsCentral and distributed it that way.
When you click "submit" it goes back to FormsCentral.
What I'm hoping to accomplish is that someone can fill out the form with the appropriate information, submit it,  and then after approval a second individual can go in and add additional information to the form.

  • Selling PowerBook - Can buyer still purchase AppleCare?

    Hi all,
I am selling a used PowerBook on eBay. I bought it refurbished from Apple but did not purchase AppleCare. Using the serial number on the Apple Support page, I've verified that there are still 98 days left in the first year of coverage and that AppleCare can still be purchased.
Can the person who buys the PowerBook from me still purchase the AppleCare plan? If so, is there anything I need to give them to facilitate this?
    Thanks for your help.
    M9677LL/A   Mac OS X (10.4)

AppleCare Plans can be purchased within one year from the date of first sale of the machine. If there are 98 days until the first year is up, then that is how long the machine's buyer has to purchase an APP.
An APP is associated with the machine and not its owner; therefore, there is nothing that you need to do to help facilitate the buyer's purchasing an APP except delivering the machine to them within the next 98 days.
    Good luck.

  • ITune Store can't show purchased item after iOS 7.1.1 Update

After my iPad Air got restored to factory iOS 7.1 from the Apple Store, I restored my content which is 25GB of books pdf apps and videos.  Then got the news that iOS 7.1.1 is out and fixed some issues, I thought maybe fixed the Videos App problem, so I updated my iOS to 7.1.1 over wifi no with problem.  Then I tried to check the purchased item in iTune Store but came out blank.  From the heading "Purchased" and below up to the lower visible icon, it is blank.  Tried reboot, power off, sign out in, close all app, etc.   The only thing left is the famous factory restore, which i'm not ready to do.  The Apps Store is fine, i can see my purchased apps.

I went to Apple Store and hooked up to their WiFi, now I see my purchased item in the iTune Store.

  • Iphone 4s fault repaired within warranty but same fault has reoccurred just after warranty has expired. What can I do?

My husband's phone developed an internal fault that meant the sound kept dropping out during phone conversations. He took the phone to the Apple store a couple of months ago and they fixed the problem under the warranty. The same fault has reoccurred, so he took the phone back to the store yesterday and they wouldn't fix it because the warranty has now expired, (sometime in October). If Apple do a repair three months ago that subsequently goes wrong, it is surely reasonable to expect them to fix it after such a short period of time, regardless of whether the warranty has expired? By their logic, they could replace a phone the day before the warranty expires but if it dies 48 hours later they would have no responsibility to do anything.

    Thanks Victoria,
I figured we are not alone but is this a comfimrd, (by Apple), design fault? If the problem was a latent fault at time of purchase then Apple have to deal with the problem under EU law.
At the moment, they are wriggling out of doing anything because the warrenty has expired. We are quite clued up on consumer law and realise that it is not 'fit for purpose' under the Sale of Goods Act and, on those grounds alone, we have a good position to argue from. However, if we are sure there is a latent problem, we probably have have a good arguement for a replacement rather than a repair, particularly as they already repaired the phone about three months ago and the problem has manifested itself again.

  • How can open InDesign CC project with CS6 after trial has expired?

Created a project with an InDesign CC trial. Trial expired, would like to continue working on it with my registered CS6 version of InDesign. Problem is that the project will not even open due to a lack of backwards compatibility. In theory I should be able to just open CC and save my project in a format compatible with CS6, problem is that since my trial has expired this is not possible. Completely stuck. Even tried to uninstall and re-install after hearing about a trial restart offered back in January, not working. Any ideas?

That would be great, except for the fact that all of my project files are on one machine. So that would not solve my issue. Unless I am unaware of a way to move my entire project without the original files

  • Any experience with Apple fixing Iphone just after warranty has expired

My iPhone has just past a year old, actually it's now 54 Weeks since I purchased it. The Touch Screen has just stopped working, it was fine, I went to unlock it and it didn't respond. I've now reset, restored etc and the touch part of the screen is just dead.
Has anyone had any experience getting Apple to fix a phone after the warrenty has expired? The touch screen seems to be a common problem with the phone, and it renders it completly useless and if just happens to fail just after the warranty has expired the only option is to pay for a brand new phone, or use the $199 service option.

Call iPhone support or talk to a genius at an apple store. If it is an issue that is really common they might make an exception to the warranty. Can't hurt to ask if you have the time to wait on hold.

  • Installing Aperture after trial has expired--effect on project in progress during Aperture trial

My Aperture trial version expired before I finished a photo book. I want to buy the full version now from the App Store.
What do I have to do to make sure my project will still be there where I left off when I get Aperture from the App Store?
Where does my project exist now that my trial has expired? Is it still on my computer and just inaccessible, or is it in the cloud somewhere?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Your projects are part of your Aperture Library (or Aperture Libraries, if you created several); by default the Aperture Library will be stored in the "Pictures" folder in your home folder and called "Aperture Library.aplibrary".
Be sure you have a working backup of this library. It contains all your projects, books, albums,..
To be able to buy Aperture from the App Store you will need to deinstall the Aperture Application from your Applications Folder (move the Aperture.app to the Trash), but keep the Aperture Library. Then you will be able to purchase the Application.
