  • Rented a movie through iTunes; want to watch it on my iPad; sync didn't transfer it

I rented a movie in iTunes from my MBP.  I synced the MBP with my iPad and the movie doesn't show up; or at least I am not looking in the right place.  In iTunes on the laptop, there is a Rentals category.  There is not on the iPad. How do I get the two to communicate and transfer the rental to the iPad?

See if this makes sense to you. Is the TV show Hi-Def?  It's taken from this support site.

If you download a rented TV show on your computer: You can play it on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Apple TV (2nd generation) if it’s a standard-definition episode.  TV episodes in HD can be played on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV (2nd generation).  Once you move the episode from your computer to a device, the episode will disappear from your computer's iTunes library.
If you download a rented TV show on your iPhone 4, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation), or Apple TV (2nd generation): It is not transferable to any other device or computer.
Frankly I really don't understand this wording, but it almost makes it sound like you can only transfer a standard def show to the device from the computer. If you download a HD show directly to the iDevice - you can watch it on the iDevice. But a Hi-Def show cannot be transferred? See what you think.

  • I rented a movie from itunes on my computer and it stopped playing. won't restart.

I was in the middle of watching a movie I rented and it just stopped. I cannot get it to play again. the play button no longer works??

    You device has limited capacity.
If you have toooooooo many movies, that occupy toooooo much space, you will not be able to add any movies oor music without deleting something else.

  • If you rent a movie through iTunes can you watch the movie on your iPad if you are not connected to internet or 3g

If you rent a movie through iTunes, can you watch the movie on your iPad if you not in an area that does not have wifi or 3G access?  Such as on an airplane, etc...

Yes - as long as the movie has totally and fully downloaded onto the iPad.

  • I rented a movie through iTunes and it downloaded but won't play.

I rented a movie through iTunes and it downloaded but won't play. It is present in the videos app but doesn't load the picture for the movie. When I go to play it, it just opens and then closes. There is an iCloud icon that suggests the movie has not Been downloaded and when I click it it says that the movie has already been rented but not downloaded and that I need to go to downloads to manage it. It is not present in my iTunes download page however. And when I go to rent it again all I get is a watch button that directs me back to the videos app with no way to watch it.

    Hi Refvoxa,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to play or download a movie rental on your iPad, first restart your device:
    Restarting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

After your iPad restarts, try resuming the download again:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

  • HT201667 I rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

I  rented a movie through itunes on my ipad and wanted to watch it with friends on a digital projector, but it wouldn't allow me to do it.  Is there any way around this?

The issue was that a dialogue box came up which said that I couldn't play this movie on another device.  I tried playing the same movie on an Tv with an HDMI connection attached to an adapter to the IPad and that worked.  I wonder if the problem is that the digital projector has a VGA connection.

  • Why I can't rent a movies in iTunes I'm using ipad2 and if I view movies in ITunes it's not available in emiraristore

Why I can't rent a movies in iTunes I'm using ipad2 and if I view movies in iTunes it's not available in migrating store

If you live in a country where the feature is not available, you will not be able to rent movies. Not all iTunez content is available worldwide.
You can see what is available where you live here.

Did you already ask this question earlier today and were you not told this already? Your screen name looks familiar and so does the question.

  • I rented a movie through itunes and now I cannot find it on the ipad.  How do I access it?

I rented a movie through itunes and now I cannot find it on the ipad.  How do I access it?

Mmmm, try checking for available downloads from the store menu, if that doesn't help, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • HT1933 Why is it that I rented a movie from iTunes on my computer but it is not showing in my Apple TV to view

Why is it that I rented a movie from iTunes on my computer but it is not showing in my Apple TV to view

    Hello Amy,
You can but the method varies depending on the Apple TV that you have.
From the article How to rent a movie from the iTunes Store on your computer found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1390:
To rent movies from the iTunes Store on your computer
In iTunes on your computer, click iTunes Store.
In the iTunes Store, find a movie you want to rent.
Click Rent. Your rental should begin to download immediately.
Once the rental is downloaded, you can watch it on your computer or transfer the rental to a supported iPod, iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV (1st generation):
Connect the device and select it in iTunes.
    Click the Movies button.
Select the movie, and then click Move.
After all movies have been moved, click Apply in the lower-right corner of iTunes.
You must be connected to the Internet to transfer a rented movie.
If you have Apple TV 2nd gen. or later you can use Airplay to play it on your tv through the Apple TV.
Here is the article to help get that setup and going.

  • If i rent a movie through itunes, but do not transfer to ipad how can i download it to ipad without itunes and not be charged again?

I rented a movie via itunes and downloaded it to itunes at the time of rental.  i was unable to transfer it to my ipad while connected to itunes due to a size constraint...i now have room on my ipad but am not near my itunes computer (2500 miles away), is it possible to download the movie directly from the iTunes Store to my ipad without having to rent it again and be charged a second time?
    please advise.
    thanks

No, rentals are only allowed to be on 1 device at a time, so you would need to move it from the computer to the ipad. This applies to rentals from the computer, if rented on a device (ipad) it is only viewable on that ipad and cannot be transferred elsewhere.

  • TS1424 trying to rent a movie through itunes on my apple TV and I continue to get a payment verification error even though the payment information is correct and the bank authorizes the purchase?

What is the solution to problem renting movie through itunes on apple TV when payment verification not accepted even though the bank authorizes the payment?

If you are also getting a message to contact iTunes Support then you can do so via this link and ask them why the message is appearing (we are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, we won't know why) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • HT1390 I've attempted to rent a movie through iTunes 11.0.5

I found the movie in the store (The Emperor (1080p HD)) and rented it thhrough my mini's (a 2.3 Ghz i5 w/ 16Gb Ram running Mac OS 10.8.4) iTunes app (version 11.0.5). I waited for the movie to download completely. I selected the "Rented" tab from my "Movies" Library and clicked on the movie icon (it had a strange appearance which was a generic light grey box with a fim frame in the middle). iTunes responded with: "This movie requires Quicktime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes.). I admit I was dumbfounded for a moment since I associate Quicktime with Apple media more closely than iTunes. I went to the file via Finder, and looked at the extension: m4v and tried to open it with Quicktime. Quicktime responded: "This application cannot be used to play "Emperor (1080p HD).m4v" In order to play this content, please open it with iTunes."
OK, I mumbled, I've seen nonsense like this before and it could be permissions based. My iTunes Library is on an external network drive because of its size. I'll copy the file to the local volume and see what happens. A few minutes later, the copy was complete. I added the file to my Library in iTunes, and this time the movie's icon image was correct. I launched to film. It opened and audio can be heard, but the video is absent. In its place is a field of alternating grey and white squares. I can watch any other video file at 1080p. The mini is connected via HDMI to a Yamaha AV receiver which outputs video to an Epson 5010 projector. Screenshots of the iTunes window appear the same when opened in Preview. I've changed the screen resolution from 1080p to 720 and 1080i and get the same result.
This evening's experiment is over since the rental ends in 24 hours now that I've -listened- to the audio.
Can anyone tell me why I had this experience and (outside of not renting another movie from iTunes) how I might successfully view an movie in the future?
    Thanks

You are looking at the amount of storage that you have available on the actual iPad (Settings > General > About > Available) and not the amount that you have in the cloud (Settings > iCloud) ?

  • Can I rent a movie in iTunes and then watch it in my car where I don't have an Internet connection?

Just wondering how to download a movie on the iPad and then take it in the car or on a plane and watch it... Is it possible to rent a movie on iTunes and then watch it elsewhere, where I don't have access to Internet?

Absolutely.  You can rent or buy a movie in iTunes and once downloaded to your iPad, watch it without internet access.  You can do this directly on your iPad.  Open iTunes on your iPad.  Browse, then buy or rent what you want.  Once downloaded, your purchase will appear in your Video App, which was preloaded on your iPad.

  • Rented a movie on itunes it was played and expired but movie keeps downloading

Rented a movie on itunes watched it and it expired but movie keeps downloading again and again

Try rebooting the computer and disconnecting all external devices (HDMI tv's or monitors) and then try to purchase the movie.
