Can i replace a burnt out backlight on 4 generation nano??

So my iPod nano's backlight has been cutting off at random times and sometimes I can get it to come back on by resetting the iPod but other times I cannot. Is there  a possibility that the backlight is burning out and needs to be replaced? Can it be replaced or do I have to buy a new iPod?

Hi,
you also can use a regular expression to find and replace similar strings.
this.rawValue = this.rawValue.replace(/\[\/?V\d\]/g, "");
There are a few great ressources for creating regular expressions.

Can one import their iTunes library onto a 7th Generation NANO on OSX 10.6.5?

The seventh generation iPod nano requires Mac OS X 10.6.8 and iTunes 10.7 or newer to sync; both of these are free updates for computers running Mac OS X 10.6.

    Hi,
I have 2 ipod touches, one is a 2nd generation and one is a 4th generation. The 2nd generation does not work at all and the 4th generation screen is broken. Can I put the 2nd generation screen on the 4th generation ipod touch. They look the same to me.........

No. The only ones that may be interchangeable are the 2G and 3G screens.

How can I replace the out of the box photos with my own when music is playing?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Select any photos you want to share with the Apple TV using the iTunes advanced menu (using iPhoto is the better option but a folder will work). Once all the photos you want are shared, go to settings > screensaver on the Apple TV and choose which of those shared photos you want to use with your screensaver.

  • MSI GT680 DC Power Jack burnt out

soooo basically i was havin problem with the laptop struggling to recognize when the charger was plugged in and i had to adjust it into position and make sure it didnt move for it to charge...then a few weeks back i smelt something burning and smoke came out of the fan area (which meant the dc jack had burnt out)...so i ordered a new dc power jack from USA and opened the laptop up and can i say its really poor arrangement of components by MSI cos i had to take out nearly everything to get access to the jack which was stuck to the motherboard, it should really have its own wiring and seperate area if it can be burnt like this (like my dads acer does, his dc jack burnt out too but it was completely separate wiring for it so it took him 15mins to sort it out)
aaanyways i did eventually get to the dc jack and tried to desolder it from the motherboard and it took me ages, maybe because of the solder used on the jack or maybe cos the soldering iron i had wasnt hot enough, either way i finally got it off and soldered the new jack into place and put everything back together and crossed my fingers before plugging the charger back in but there was a little spark so i took it out immediately, the circuit must have shorted somewhere or some of the components must have burnt out intially
now i've got a dilemma in what to do...i live in the UK so parts are hard to come by and i dont think im under warranty cos i've had the laptop for more then 2 years so any suggestion how i can proceed
P.S another guy had a similar problem which can be seen in the post below but no solution was posted at the end of it

I'll be perfectly honest with you.
    Replace the motherboard.
Why? More than likely a FEW components have probably been damaged, most likely that you can't see. There might even be shorted traces inside the board at this point, or missing traces. So if you try to fix it, more than likely it will go up in smoke again, and possibly even worse this time.
any idea where i can get a motherboard for MSI GT680 (preferably in uk somewhere)

  • 6th generation nano screen black but able to touch screen from memory to get music to play..called customer support they said it's the backlight since touch screen can still be touched and music can be played..any thoughts?

second 6th generation nano..again with the same problem..screen is black will not turn on but am able to touch screen and get music/radio to play...able to touch around on screen from memory..nano is recognized in itunes and computer..but screen will not turn on..called customer support today..of course out of warranty but was told that it sounds like my backlight is burnt out and that's all i need fixed, told that it shouldn't be that expensive (live in myrtle beach SC) and that my screen is fine since i am able to touch around on it...any thoughts?
thanks to all for any advice or input..will try to take to local icitymac store in next couple of days
    jenn

Replacing the backlight usually requires replacing the entire front LCD/digitizer.  And yes, it sounds the backlight has burned out.
Keep in mind that if you go the Apple route, they won't actually repair the iPod, but instead will do an out of warranty exchange meaning your current Nano will be replaced with a refurbished model of the same capacity and generation.

  • NX6600gt-TD128E Fan burnt out

I have this card on an asus a8n-sli- deluxe board. The lastest msi drivers and using the oc software that msi built in I found that maximum setting wouldnt work, so i lowered it a setting just above the middle settings.
I started getting a nvidia message that the card wasnt gettin enough voltage. So I upgrade the chipset & bios to the latest versions and found it work okay for a a day or 2. then the message came again.
Knowing that there was an additional plug for supplying power direct to the card ( EZPLug). I plugged in this. The pc wouldnt start up. No action from pressing the power on button. The LED standby was lit.
I opened up the pc and removed all the cabling to start fresh, incase I knocked out a cable.
To my horror I found the fan on the gfx card hanging off. The magneto is burnt.
Can you help me figure out what went wrong?
I have 1 sata hdd 1 ide hdd & 1 dvd rom with a quality 480w psu. So I didnt think there was a power drain to the card. I assumed the ezplug power connector was just a way to directly connect the card to the psu.
I'm trying to figure out if the card is dead or if it is just the fan being dead that its reporting to the mobo & stopping the power up. Asus FAQ says that the card is dead.
NO point buying a new fan if the card is dead. Only had the card just over  15months, so I reckon I'm out of warranty. am rather annoyed as I've always used the msi drivers. So that i didnt break it.
The case is a jeantec phong this has a great air flow through it.

I had the same problem, but my story gets worse from there.
I upgraded to an XFX 7900GT a couple months ago, and when I went to take the 6000GT out, I saw that the fan was hanging by a wire.  The card had been working fine though, which I thought was odd since the fan was inoperable as far as I could tell.
I was going to use the 6000GT in a computer I was helping my girlfriend put together, so I decided to RMA it, since it was still under warranty, being less than a year old at that time.  RMA service was speedy, and I actually got the card back four days sooner than their estimated arrival date when they shipped it back.
HOWEVER, although the card appears to have a brand new fan, the card now overheats in a matter of minutes upon any kind of useage.  I just got it back and put it in my gf's new pc tonight, the case is open and all the other components are running at normal operating temperatures, but the machine keeps locking up or giving me a garbled display ever 10 minutes or so.  After the second or third lockup, I rebooted and checked the gpu temp in the display properties, and was shocked to see it at 130° C!  And still climbing!  And this was only while using Windows, no 3d or graphical apps of any kind.
I immediately shut the pc down as it was over the threshold temp of 127°.  I let it cool for a few minutes and fired up the machine again.  This time I put my hand underneath the fan and I could feel a breeze and see the fan running, but when I checked the temp, it was right around the same temp again, so I shut her down again.
Now here I am at 7am looking through the MSI forums trying to figure out what I should do, and seeing if others are reporting the same problem.  I think it's a bit bs to say that "fans wear out" and that people should just plan on replacing them.  I've owned at least 7 video cards over the years that were manufactured by many different companies, and I've never had a fan quit or fall off for that matter.  I'm not saying it never happens, I'm just saying that wearing out is much different than "falling off" within a year of normal use (no overclocking or tampering at all).
With the card RMA'd and now worse than before, I really can't see wasting my time and another $8 or so to send it back a second time to roll the dice that it'll come back functional this time.  I owned a PNY 4200Ti a few years ago that had a chip burn out on it, and I went through hell trying to get it fixed (eventually replaced), and I swore I'd never buy another PNY product because of it.  TBH at this point I'm about to add MSI to that list, as it seems like the RMA process was fast but ultimately worthless.
Take this post for what it's worth, it wasn't intended as an anti-MSI flame, just a very dissatisfied customer (and a very disappointed girlfriend, as this would be her first computer) with the same problem as the OP...maybe you'll just delete this post, but I felt I should share my story.

  • How can I replace just the corrupt page(s) in the domain file of iWeb using Time Machine?

I back up with Time Machine and have an extensive elaborate website I created in iWeb '09 over a couple months and publish to a local folder and then upload to my server, but in the last few days I notice certain pages (that I haven't even worked on or touched) somehow become corrupted or "cross-contaminated" with elements and images from other pages.  Once I see they are corrupt I make sure not to publish them (if the current published versions are the correct, non-corrupt versions) or if they did get published I can use Time Machine to retrieve the .html file and page files folder for that specific page and replace it in my published folder/server so it shows correctly on the Web.  However, that does not replace the corrupted page(s) you see and work with when you launch iWeb and try to edit or continue working on that page.
I am confused as to how I go to the package contents of the domain file and replace just that page with a previous version from time machine.  I don't want to replace the entire domain file because I have new changes I made to other pages even in the past hours.  How can I keep the good pages and just get earlier, non-corrupted versions of the corrupt page(s)? I know it's not as easy as with the published site folder where you can just replace the page's .html file and folder, but I don't want to have to re-create the corrupted page(s) from scratch or have to replace it with the last non-corrupted domain file and then have to redo all my recent changes to new pages I made before discovering the corrupt page(s).  Thanks for your help as now I can't make changes to the page(s) within iWeb itself.

Thanks for the response, Wyodor.  I don't know what that is, but I'll have a look.  Is it an alternative to iWeb or a way to transfer pre-existing iWeb sites?  When you say merge domain files, is that like so multiple copies of the same site show up then you can pick and choose the non-corrupted pages and group them then delete the corrupted ones?  I am on Snow Leopard with no plans or need to upgrade anytime soon.
And yes, I will read your links but just wanted to ask those questions.  Maybe they'll answer my questions, maybe not.
I was able to discern that within the domain file is a domain folder with all the site folders, each with their own page ".gz" files which expand into ".xml" files.  I was trying to figure out if you could simply drag the corrupt pages out that way and replace them with backup copies that are still good.  I am having trouble discerning which pages are which as they all have random names like site-page-30F175E3-AE33-4F10-A490-1A096D9B185B.xml and although I expanded and opened each in Text Wrangler, I still couldn't discern which were which for sure, and trial and error proved cumbersome.  Also, I did notice some of the later corrupted domain files had one or two more pages than the site itself has, so not sure how they got added or duplicated or what.
Again, I'll look at your links, but do you know about swapping out individual page .xml files this way within the domain file?

  • How can I replace an administrators account?

I have an older Powerbook G4 laptop that someone else would like. How can I replace the adminsitrator's account?

    Hi Bob,
    2 ways to go...
      1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
       2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
       3. Click the Erase tab.
       4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
       5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
       6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data, Erase... after completion do a new install.
    Or...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
In the same pref pane highlight your old account, click the little minus icon, then use Disk Utility to Secure Erase Free Space.
