A while back I have damaged my iPod by running from a dog Lol...but when I figured out I was missng something in my back pocket, I paniced. So I went to go look for it and I found it on the road, broken and bent....I picked it up and it it was falling apart, the screen was shattered and the corners of the ipod was bent....I rubbed my fingers across the screen and the pieces would get stuck it my fingers the pieces near the button and in the corners of the ipod are missing. But it still worked, but now its not working t just died out and when i would charge it..it would charge fully and the end to my headphones would always bend and die out when i would listen to music. One day I accidentally dropped it and it bent more..and more ore the pieces would fll out to where you could see the inside...and the end was bent more to where the screen was coming out and I'd had to push it back in....So do you think I can get a replacement for my ipod for cheap I guess.

Apple may exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for a 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

Did you drop it? This is not covered under the warranty. Otherwise, take it in to an Apple store to get a free replacement if there is a defect.

How can I replace my damaged Tiger (intel) restore DVD for a Mac Mini. The version of Tiger in the shops is for PPC, the restore DVD that came with the Mac Mini is now covered in scratches and will not work.

Install DVDs are for Tiger are specific to the model and build of your mac, so getting one at the store won't work anyway.
Contact AppleCare, explain the problem, and they will send you a replacement. You'll need your serial number (look in System Profiler), and you will have to pay a nominal charge for shipping/handling.

The Apple store in Melbourne is in Flinders Street, opposite Federation Square - not sure of the street number, but just down from Swanston Street. There is a store there, and next door there is an Apple service center

I recently lost my 32 Gb Ipod touch with engraving on the back and it was stolen. I have no idea how to get it back, I have made multiple phone calls and don't know where else to turn. So if the ipod was bought on the apple store website, engraved and registered, what can Apple do for me???

First you and your insurance company have to figure out whether the iPod is covered and under which conditions. Then there is the question of the deductible (if any). I think that you will find that it will probably not be favorable to go through the insurance. As far as raising rates... not sure what criteria home insurance companies use to increase/decrease rates these days.

I have a copy of IC from my other mac running Lion, but cannot copy it into the Apps folder on my MacBook Air because IC cannot be modified or deleted since it is "needed by Mac OS X." Is there an easy way to unlock the Apps folder? Thanks.

I finally figured out a way to do this. I right-clicked to show the package contents for the corrupted application. Then copied in the contents from a functioning version. Gave administrator permission to make the change. Relaunched the finder and the damaged application was back up and running and no longer greyed out.

For this thread, let us assume that the iPod has a broken hard drive that needs to be replaced in order to function properly. I am assuming that merely 'restoring' it would not suffice. Yes, the red X icon is usually a sign of a bad or damaged hard drive. Sometimes, restoring the iPod will resolve the issue, but rarely. Other users were able to smack the ipod against the side of their leg and gain back full functionality of the iPod.
However, if no such luck with either, your next option would be to replace the drive. For this task, you can either opt to repair and replace the hard drive yourself, or opt to send it into a third party repair business to do the job for you.
