Can I request a burned DVD for movies purchased?

I Recently purchased 3 movies from the iTunes Store. I downloaded them on my PC but cannot open them.  I am a full time mom and student and do not have the time to troubke shoot this.  As I paid over $30 for these movies I am requesting that you mail actual Dvd's or Blue ray disks to my home address.  Thank you.

Since your problem is that you can't open whatever file type the movies have been supplied in, I'd suggest trying VLC Media Player, which seems able to open and play just about any media file type, and is available for Windows as well as the Mac.

  • Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K05 superdrive can't erase or burn DVD-RW

I've noticed lots of users are having issues with their slot-loading superdrives and I'm wondering if anyone's issue matches this one:
I can successfully read and write: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-DL and can READ an already burned DVD-RW, but I can't erase a DVD-RW that's already burned nor can I burn a blank DVD-RW. Inserting a blank DVD-RW results in ejecting the disc after about 30 seconds, no error messages, just ejects.
I've tried Maxell DVD-RW and Memorex DVD-RW. Same results.
An already burned DVD-RW (from a different burner) mounts fine on the desktop, but when I try to erase using Toast 7, I get the following message:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST
    Sense Code = 0x30, 0x05
CANNOT WRITE MEDIUM - INCOMPATIBLE FORMAT
It recognizes that it's a DVD-RW, but treats it as though it were a DVD-R.
Using Disk Utility to erase results in a more generic error message:
Optical Erase failed with the error:
    Optical Erase Failed
I had an online chat with an Apple rep who had me reset the PRAM, no change. Then we tried from another account, no change. Their next recommendation was to re-install the OS using Archive and Install, which I have my doubts about doing. Failing that, they recommend bringing the iMac in to a service store to possibly replace the drive. But based on what I've been reading about all the different superdrive problems users are having, I'm reluctant to even do that for fear of having an even worse problem with a different drive crop up at some point.
Has anyone out there had this exact problem and found a solution yet?
Seems like a simple firmware update for the drive could fix everything but I'm unable to find one.
Here's the drive specs from the Apple System Profiler:

    hi there--
instead of just resetting pram i would try booting to
open firmware holding apple-option-o-f and then type
    in the following commands--
    reset-nvram (hit return)
    set-defaults (hit return)
    reset-all (hit return)
the last command restarts the computer. see if that
works. if it doesn't then try resetting the smu.

there is a remote possibility that this is software
related, but it almost never is, and these things
are much more likely to resolve your problem than
doing an archive and install, and they are much less
hassle free. let me know if that works. [ 8 ) ]
OK, I booted into open firmware and did all the resets. No improvement. In fact, now I can't even mount some DVD-Rs that I had successfully burned before and mounted before. The drive has always been a little touchy with some discs, especially DVDs, but now seems to be even more hit-and-miss. CD-R and CD-RW reliably mount but DVDs have me worried. It took a long time for my OS X install disc to mount and display the window.
I think it may be time to take it in to Apple and replace it. I may also consider purchasing a Firewire burner with a tray!
Just wondering also if PatchBurn would fix this by creating a new profile or if this truly is a hardware issue. http://www.patchburn.de/
    Thanks for your help.

  • Exported slideshow from Iphoto11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine but show stops 1/2way through because DVD has 2 chapters. How do I eliminate chapters?

I exported slideshow from Iphoto 11 to IDVD 7.12 so I could burn DVD for play on DVD player. Fine, but then when playing on DVD player show stops about 12 way and starts over. Seems there are 2 chapters in show. I wan t show to play straight through until end. How do I elimiante chapters or solve problem. Thanks. Bob Low

    Try this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Play the disk image with DVD Player and see if you get the same start over half way thru.
Did you create the slideshow in iPhoto in the slideshow mode?
or were you in an album and then used the Share ➙ iDVD menu option?  What I'm trying to find out is if the slideshow in iDVD is a movie file or an iDVD slideshow with the photos from iPhoto? If it's the latter how many photos in the slideshow?

Call Apple, give them your computer serial number, and they will ship you disks for a small charge if disks are available. Go to the Apple Store for your country, then to the bottom of the page//Contact Us for the correct telephone number.
If that isn't what you ant, can you provide more information?

  • Can Mac OS X burn DVD's?

Can Mac OS X burn DVD's?

    Michael,
Of course it can! What kind of DVDs are we discussing? We can burn data DVDs, readable by Macs and PCs, right in the Finder. When a blank disk is inserted, it shows up as such on the Desktop. Simply drag files to it, then open it and click the "Burn" button.
Video DVDs can also be burned. This is the job of iDVD. Video footage (which one edits in iMovie) must first be converted to MPEG-2 (the video DVD format), "multiplexed," and then it can be burned to the DVD as a single stream. Of course, iDVD also allows one to create all the necessary menus, complete with chapters, etc., that a good DVD requires.

  • DVD for Movie and location for picture files

In iDVD can I play a movie of some pictures and also use the dvd for a location of the pictures used soe a person can watch the movie or go to a folder from the menu and see the pictures or drag the pictures to their computer?

Are you referring to the Dvd-Rom section of the dvd? Yes you can add any file you wish to this section but it wont be playable by most set top dvd players. But you can use a computer to drag and drop the data to a different mac or pc.
Adding files to the DVD-ROM portion of a disc
You can let viewers copy files directly from your DVD by adding the files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc. These files are burned onto the DVD and are accessible when the disc is viewed on either a Windows PC or a Macintosh computer, but not a DVD player.
You can add any kind of file to the disc. For example, if your disc contains a slideshow, you can add the image files to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc so viewers can download them to their own computers and print them. You can also add a file containing your movie production notes and other “extras.”
To manually add files to the DVD-ROM part of your disc:
Choose Advanced > Edit DVD-ROM Contents.
    The DVD-ROM Contents window opens.
Click Add Files, or click New Folder first if you want to create a folder to put the files in.
Browse to select your files or folders, then click Open to add them to the disc.
You can also drag files directly to the DVD-ROM Contents window. When you are done, just close the window.
When you add a file to the DVD-ROM portion of your disc, before you burn the disc the project contains just a reference to the location of the file on your hard disk, not the actual file. So if you delete a file from your computer or move it from its location after adding it to the DVD-ROM contents, you get a “File not found” message when you try to burn your disc. You can either remove these missing files from the DVD-ROM contents or find them on your computer and put them back in the original location so iDVD can access them.
As you add files to the DVD-ROM contents, be sure to check the DVD Capacity meter in the Project Info window to find out how many gigabytes of disc space are being used. The Capacity meter shows the disc space taken up by the video portion of the disc as well as the DVD-ROM portion.
NOTE: It is not recommended that you use this feature as a way to create regular system backups on DVD. If you want to create DVD backups of files on your computer’s hard disk, use the Burn Disc feature in the Finder.
When you add RAW images to a slideshow from iPhoto or from elsewhere on your computer, the files appear as JPEG images in your slideshow. If, in iDVD preferences, you choose to add photos from the slideshow to the DVD-ROM portion of the disc (so that viewers can download them to their computers), the RAW files are added, not JPEGs.
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • How burn DVD from .mov

I would like to burn a DVD direct from a Quick Time movie that I created in iMovie, without going through the iDVD process of creating a project, selecting a theme, etc. The movie is in .mov format. Is there a way to do this?  I simply want to burn the .mov to a DVD so that it will play on a DVD player. Thank you.
    NJZ

You can use iDVD to auto-play a movie, such that the Theme never appears. Open a new project in iDVD and click on the Map View icon. Drag the QuickTime movie onto the first box. Click on the box so that it is highlighted, then go to the menu and select Advanced>Loop Movie.
Once you've burnt the DVD, it will play automatically when inserted into a DVD Player, with no menu or Theme appearing. Also, when the movie finishes playing it will start again. Click Stop on the DVD remote to cancel playback.

  • Burning DVD for DVD Player and Computer

    Hi everybody.
I thought that I saw this somewhere here, but after looking for it for the past 1 1/2 hours (Unsuccessfully I might add , I thought that I would just ask.
When I burn a project to a DVD using Quicktime and iDVD, I can view it on a DVD player and on my Apple computers, but not on a windows based machine. Can I burn a DVD that will play on any computer? How?
Thanks in advance for the help.
    Brian

Could well be a +R issue. The player must be able to read +R.
-R is the most universal and should play on just about any DVD machine.
I noticed that the older the machine the more things things can go wrong for no apparent reason. Later model stuff play just about anything even +R, dual layer, RAM etc. Always check the player specs if you have them.

  • Want to burn DVD of movie

I am trying to get a movie from iMovie onto a DVD. I tried using Share/Media Browser, selected Medium size and Publish. The only file I can locate resulting from this procedure has audio but scrambled video. Now iMovie will not allow me to create a new medium-sized Share video.
Can someone suggest what to do to create a file that can be made into a DVD?

    TopoTone wrote:
Under the Share menu, choose iDVD. Your project will export to iDVD and from there you can design your DVD and create it.
If you have iMovie '08 (version 7.x) you won't have this option. I would use Share -> 'Export using QuickTime' and export the video to DV format. Then you can import this DV video into iDVD. The DV format will ensure that you don't lose any quality before iDVD compresses it, but be prepared, it will be quite large in file size.
    Hope this works. -- Ian.

  • HT4914 Can you use I tunes match for movies saved within iTunes?

Thinking about joining iTunes Match but does it Orkney for movies as well as songs?

When importing songs into imovie, iTunes Match songs may appear to be unavailable. This is because you cannot import songs that are not stored locally on your device.
To import an iTunes Match song you must download it first. To download a song:
    Open the Itunes
    Go to the Albums view.
Click the Download from iCloud button on the top right of each album cover
                             4. Once the song is downloaded you can import it into imovie.
    Hope this helps
