Can I restore a free app after updating to OS 6

I updated my Iphone to OS 6.  I lost all my 'free' apps.  After searching around I did find several of the apps at the APP Store -> Update -> Purshased and was able to re-install .  I still cannot find and restore  Photo Sort which means I lost all the photos stored in Photo Sort.   Any help ?

Unfortunately, there are free and then there are "free". In the short time I've had the i5, have been able to acquire interesting and useful apps at no cost that are not there anymore. The freeness has expired or the maker used them as enticement for their priced products and have discontinued their distribution. I hope that the copy of the apps that iTunes keeps will allow me to recover them should the need arise, but when updates and other nasty things occur, the reliability of that safety net comes into doubt.
As for Photo-Sort, I find it as Available on my iTunes setup, but it is no longer free. Romain HENRI is the developer: http://photo-sort.webs.com

    Close all open apps by double-tapping the home button, then swiping up and off the screen with the app window (not the smaller icon).
    Then reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

    The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service regularly, most especially before any update/restore/etc
    If you have failed to sync your contacts, then they are very likely gone.

    HI guys
    last June I decided to update my iPAD model md371ks/a to iOS 7.1 by mistake I haven't done a fresh backup just before starting it.
    However I had various backup done few months earlier on my win iTunes. I start the procedure and after some time I find out that my iPAD is fully updated but  all data/apps are erased !
    OK, I start my iTunes and I try to restore from my previous backup (done with an earlier OS version). Nothing works. I have a brand new OS on a formatted iPAD.
    Please note: I've never used iCloud previously and all my backups have been done via iTunes on a win PC.
    I google around and I find out that lots of people have similar problems, I try the wondershare.com recovery SW (http://www.wondershare.com/data-recovery/iphone-data-recovery.html) for iPAD and surprisingly it finds all my data from my PC iTunes backup files. Good.
    However all my apps are gone and there is no trace of them. How can find and restore them ???
    I recall that when using iTunes with the older iOS ver I had all the apps well displayed in the iTunes GUI. Now they are all gone.
    Any idea how to get the apps back ? Few of them were paid apps and I had also paid newspapers/articles which I wouldn't like to start digging out manually !!!

    The apps themselves aren't included in a backup, so you need them in the Apps part of your library. What you can redownload will show under the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes, and you then retry restoring to your backup - if you've changed countries since buying an app, or if an app is no longer in the store, then you won't be able to redownload it

    Windows 7 Starter, Firefox 20; running from non-administrator account (possibly the cause of issues):
    I updated to Firefox 20, and everything was reset (i.e. homepage, bookmarks, passwords, addons).
    I searched online for solutions but it hasn't helped me (i.e. Profile Manager).
    I located the profiles folder, and it contains one folder called: shunltlp.default
    the folder seems to have all the necessary files, e.g. bookmarks, key3, etc.
    How can I get Firefox to use these files, and restore my settings, etc.?

    Thanks for the reply.
    I had been to that page during my search for solutions but found it a bit confusing, although I did create a new profile but didn't understand the choose folder part.
    I re-read the instructions and I have been able to restore my old profile.
    So, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
    Re: running my Firefox from a non-administrator account
    I think this may have been the cause of the profile problem.
    I.e. when I selected 'Choose a folder' when creating the new profile, the default folder path was Administrator> etc., where as my old profile was not there, but in Username> etc. folder path...
    I understand browsing from a non-administrator account is the sensible security option, but is causes other problems when installing updates...

    Try a rest:
    Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the iPad shuts down. Ignor the Off slider if it appears. This should take about ten seconds give or take. When shutdown is complete, turn the iPad back on and check to see if the apps will perform properly.

    The restore option "restore previous session" is gray. I tried the instructions on firefox to restore a backup. But I cannot open back up files with Windows 7. Must have to do with the "default" extension.
    Is there any freeware to solve this problem? I could only find useless promotions from Microsoft partners and unauthorised registrations of my files on e.g. "mybackup" or PCHealthBoost. They advertised to be supposedly free, but are not!

  • I can't use the Mail app after updating to 8.0.2

    I can add my Gmail account to my phone just fine.  It adds my calendar, my contacts and my notes with no problem.  But when I open the Mail app, I get a blank screen.  It stays blank for about 15-20 seconds and then closes automatically.
    Also, there is no longer an option when setting up an email account to only sync a week or a month or whatever.  The calendar has an option to sync events in a certain time frame, but the option that was in mail is gone.  So it's trying to sync my entire gmail account.  Perhaps the size is the problem, IDK.
    I need to be able to check email.  What is the problem?

    If you have a credit card on file on top of your gift card then it is asking you to confirm the security code for the card, which for a Visa or MasterCard is 3 digits located on the back, or AMEX has 4 digits on the front.  This happens just to ensure that you are the account holder, and would happen from time to time whether it was a free or paid app, even if you have a credit through your gift card.  This doesn't mean that your credit card will be charged.

    In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
    If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

    You cannot. It's not supported by Apple actually, so if you downgrade they cannot help you.
    However, make sure that all your apps are not in a different page, so keep swiping to the left just in case they are hidden at a first glance.
    You can use the App store app to download all your purchased items.

    If you're having problems with the App Store you might try this:
    1 - enable the Debug menu in App Store:
    open the Terminal application.
    copy the command below and paste into the Terminal window:
    defaults write com.apple.appstore ShowDebugMenu -bool true
    followed by Enter.
    launch App Store, login.
    2 - select the Debug ➙ Reset Application option:
    3 - launch App Store, login and try again.
