Can I restore Itunes library from my IPOD?

I had to reload Windows and did not have my ITunes library compleatly backed up.
If I reinstall ITunes and connect my IPOD, will I be able to keep all the songs on the IPOD or will they be deleted with a sync action?

This is asked and answered many times each day.
Zevoneer has a great explanation of the options.
Have you failed to maintain a backup?

  • Can I restore my library from the iPod Touch?

    Hi all,
I was forced to restore my laptop recently and like a lot of users I am trying to restore my library.  I backed it up to an external hard drive regularly but for some reason I am only able to locate older versions of the library.  When I restored one of them I noticed that all of the music appeard but none of the apps did.  I am not really concerned about the music but the apps are of importance to me.  Can someone tell me if I did something wrong when I restored the old library?  Also, is it possible to restore the library from the iPod Touch rather than the external hard drive?
    Thanks,
    Sweets

Alright this is a simple solution which I do all the time. Presuming you have legitimately bought all your apps you should just be able to download them again.
You can also try to right click your iPod in the devices lists and then selecting "Transfer purchases from iPod" and it will transfer over your apps which is what I use whenever I get a new laptop or lose information.

  • How to restore Itunes library from stolen Ipod Touch to a new Ipod touch?

My Ipod Touch 3th gen was stolen. I bought a new Ipod Touch 4th gen. How do I restore everything that is in Itunes library to it?
Should I just give the new device the same name of the other one and sync?
Will that transfer the apps I bought on the old one too?
I also have mobile me account and it was updated 1 day before the robbery. Do I need to do anything about mobile Me?
    Thanks!

You can restore from the backup of the old one.
OR just sync whatever you like to the new one.
You can sync as many ipods as you like to the same computer.

  • Can't restore itunes library from external hard drive

Prior to my hard drive crashing, I dragged my entire itunes folder (with all sub folders) to a firelite external hard drive. I replaced the power book HD, and I want to put my backed up library on the new HD. I dragged the folder from the firelite to the music folder (in place of the itunes folder that was already there). Unfortunately, the itunes library is still empty. Am I missing something?

Yes, the relative location is the same, the user account has the same short and long lame as before.
I did try to use the preferences to point to the backed up itunes folder. Once when it was on the eHD and once when I put it in the music folder. Unfortunatley no luck.
I will try your idea about using "Consolidate Library"
One other interesting thing I tried a few days ago was to follow the procedure outlined in the apple support section about restoring the library. It has you move the libray xml file to the desk top, trashing one of the other files (I forgot which) and then choosing the xml file placed on the desk top upon starting itunes. I thought it was kind of odd to select the very xml file I was having trouble with so I chose the backed up xml file. It put all of the playlist folders back in duplicate, but the library was still empty (probably becuase the xml file is just a reference file and I hadn't loaded any actual music files) If the consolidate doesn't work, mabye I'll try that again, but also put the folder with the actual files on the computer as well
I'll let you know how "Consolidate" works, thanks for your suggestions!

  • My mac hard drive crashed. Can I restore my iTunes library from my iPod to my new hard drive?

My mac hard drive crashed, and had to be replaced. Can I restore my iTunes library from my iPod to my new hard drive? About 2500 songs, some from iTunes store, most from other online sources or my own CDs.

To restore non-purchased music on the iTunes Store to iTunes from the iPod, you need a third-party application as Senuti > http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/ You can use others, but this has worked perfectly for me

  • PLEASE HELP!! How Do You Restore ITunes Library From IPOD Back To Computer

My entire library on intunes has been deleted and now all I have left is the music which i still stored on my ipod. I have done a total search on my PC and there is no track listings at all. My only chance is to restore the itunes library from the Ipod back to the PC. Is this possible and how do you do it. Am totally gutted and cant beleive the files are gone. Plllllease help me.

If you're using iTunes 7, you can copy purchased music back to iTunes directly. If you're not using iTunes 7 or want to copy other tracks, the easiest way will be to search VersionTracker for "iPod". You'll find a number of utilities that can transfer your tracks and your playlists from your iPod back to your PC.
It's also possible to do this manually, but the procedure is rather involved. If you're interested, though, see this thread:

Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Discussions page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums, in the User Tips Library and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.

  • Can I transfer my itunes library from my ipod to my new imac?  If so how is it done?

Can I transfer my itunes library from my ipod to my new imac?  If so how is it done?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Of course. The best would be to transfer the iTunes library from your old Mac or PC to the new Mac, so you will keep everything and you won't have to use any third-party app.
Anyway, if you don't have access to the old PC or Mac, you can transfer songs from the iPod to your Mac. If you purchased all the songs on the iTunes Store, just open iTunes, connect the iPod and transfer the songs. If you are using an iPod touch, you will lose everything if you sync it with iTunes on the new iMac.
Another method is to use an app like Senuti to transfer the songs to iTunes, being a safer way to transfer them if you aren't sure that you will lose your songs

  • How can i transfer my itunes library from my ipod to my laptop

how can i transfer my itunes library from my ipod to a new laptop

3 things you need to transfer music from iPod to itunes: iPod, computer, iTunes.
step 1 connect your ipod to your computer via the white USB cable.
step 2 open My Computer, or just Computer from the start menu and look for the ipod drive. It should be in the (F:) drive. You will see the ipod logo in the listing of disk drives.
step 3 Now you should have a new folder called ipod_control. Open that folder up and you should see the following: Calendar, Contacts, ipod_control, notes, photos, ect. If you are trying to save all of your music then the ipod_control folder is the only one you need to worry about.
step 3 Open the ipod_control folder then open the music folder. Copy each one of those folders (should look similar to these: F00, F01 ...) onto your computer.
step 3 Open itunes and insert the new folder you created on your computer's desktop into: library ---> Music
