Can I restore my accidentally erased music library from iTunes match?

I was making room on my external drive for my back up, when I erased the Time Machine back ups as well as my iTunes library. Is there a way of bringing my library back from iTunes Match?

Hi,
I presume that you did not not delete your iTunes library from within iTunes. Can you recover from trash? Also why did you manually delete your time machine backup? Time machine manages your hard drive space and removes older backups when more space is required.
If you have iTunes Match, open iTunes and turn on match.
If you see the tracks listed and you see the " ! ", delete all tracks but don't delete from cloud. Highlight tracks and download. If you see the tracks with download icon, highlight tracks and download.

  • I accidentally erased music somehow from my itunes library, how can i get it back?

i accidentally erased music somehow from my itunes library, how can i get it back?  I'm not sure how I did it, but I do know something has been wierd ever since.  i remember using it and arranging songs, and then, bing!  Songs were missing.  Please help!
Not quite sure what info you need to answer this.   I dont have all my music synced to icloud unfortunately...at least not that i'm aware of.

You either have an incredibly complex computer setup or I think you are confusing terminology here.  If you have iTunes set to share your library with others in your iTunes preferences then other computers in the area will see it as an item when they are running their iTunes and have it set to check for shared libraries.  Your husband is probably seeing this when running iTunes on his computer.  You can disable this sharing on your computer and/or he can set his not to pick up shared libraries.
By the way, an iTunes account is something you log into when you want to buy something from Apple.  On your computer it is simply your iTunes collection or your iTunes application.  So you need to turn off sharing in your iTunes application preferences.
Your husband is seeing "his" iTunes collection when running iTunes, but it is possible he doesn't have anything in it if it is a brand new computer.

  • Had to have my hard drive rebuilt in my PC (not Mac). When I reinstalled my music library from iTunes, several of the songs did not download properly - they appear in light colored ink on my library list but the songs will not play and will not synch

Had to have my hard drive rebuilt in my PC (not a Mac).  When I reinstalled my music library from itunes, some of the songs did not properly download.  They appear in light colored ink, but will not play and will not synch with my iPod.  How can I get all of my songs back?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • How do I restore a backed up music library from another drive

I have had to move many thousands of music tracks from an old MacPro  to a new Mac Mini.  I transfered the whole music folder to a NAS before I did this and while the MacMini seems to have setup an iTunes library with some of the music a lot is not appearing. I have bought some more tracks and backed up CDs since this move onto the new libaray but now I want to restore all the missing tracks which are sitting on the NAS. How do I do this without ending up with hundreds of multiple copies of the tracks taht are on the Mini??? The Organise Library tool might copy the tracks across but it'll almost certainly make duplicates of exisiting tracks...
I have iTunes Sweeper but I don't think its capable of this. Is there an App that will?

This is what I always do (and believe me, it's been done many times):
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Locate the current iTunes library (this assumes that you have used iTunes since your old lib got damaged). You can use find to do this, the current lib will be the one that's been modified last (so if you last used iTunes on September 22nd and quit afterwards, the library should show that it's been modified 22/9).
    3. It'll probably be named just as 'iTunes library.xxx' (can't remember the file ending now). Now, back up the backed up library (you can never be too sure) and when done, change its name to be identical to your current, pathetically small library.
    4. Move the old library to the folder where the new one is. The system will ask whether you want to replace the the existing library with the same name, and of course you will want to.
    5. Start iTunes anew and you should have your old library back.

  • How do you sync iPod Touch music library to iTunes Match for transferring to/using on main computer iTunes?

Hello, and thank you for any help anyone can offer. I subscribed to iTunes Match to transfer my music that's been stuck on my iPod Touch (iOS 5.1.1) to my new computer.
First, some background to explain my problem. On an old laptop, I had 15,000+ songs (mostly video game music downloaded online) that I synced to my iPod Touch. The computer containing that music started having trouble and likely died. I was unable to afford having it looked at, but all the music from it has remained on my iPod Touch.
Recently, instead of trying to have the old computer fixed, I bought a new laptop. I was looking for a solution to get the music from my iPod Touch onto my new computer, since I know syncing with it would cost me every song I have on the iPod Touch that I didn't download on iTunes Store. I thought iTunes Match was the solution, that it would bring the music on my iPod Touch to the iCloud, and I'd at last be able to download my huge library onto the new computer from there.
Now, the problem: I had to purchase the iTunes Match service on my laptop iTunes. It put all my purchased music from the laptop on iTunes Match. Well, when I go to iPod Touch and try to turn on iTunes Match, it says: "iTunes Match will replace the music library on this device." I assume if I do that, it'll wipe out my 15,000+ iPod Touch songs from my old laptop and replace them with the 1200 or so that I've purchased from the iTunes Store (which I already have on my iPod)!!! That is the last thing I want to do! Is there a way of getting my iPod Touch library to the cloud so I can access it on iTunes, or have I wasted $25 on iTunes Match? If I wanted to replace the 15,000 songs on my iPod with the little library of purchased music on my new computer, I would just plug my iPod into it and sync! Furthermore, my purchases were already available on the iCloud when I authorized this new computer, without spending a dime. I've put a lot of time into my library, and making playlists as well. Any help getting my iPod music on iTunes Match is greatly appreciated! Sorry if I've overlooked something obvious, this is my first experience with cloud-based services.

iTunes Match does not work this way. The service does not scan the music on an iOS device, only an iTunes library. For your music to be available in the cloud it must first be in an iTunes library. See the following articles:

An iOS device or iPod is not a storage device or backup of your music library. It is your responsibliity to maintain a backup of your music and other personal data.

The procedure I described and tested in that topic will also retain the playlists.

  • Can I restore previous version of an app from iTunes backup?

I updated an app via wifi and don't like the new version (too many ads).
I deleted it from my iPod Touch.
Can I restore the old version of the app from iTunes?
In iTunes I try to drag the app from the apps folder to my iPod but it springs back.

    Try:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
However, sometimes a previous version is not available.

  • Download large library from iTunes Match to iPhone

I subscribe to iTunes Match and want to download a large playlist (approximately 9,000 songs, 60 GB) to my iPhone (for use when I don't have a wifi connection).  Downloading over wifi is impossibly slow - it does a few hundred songs per day.  And it gets hung up every few hours so I have to restart.  Downloading the entire playlist would take (literally) weeks of running 24 hours per day.  This is not feasible.  I can sync the playlist through iTunes and copy to my phone if I turn off iTunes Match on the phone.  But then when I turn on iTunes Match on my phone back on (to listen to the rest of my library that won't fit on my phone) it deletes all the music already on the phone (the large playlist that I spent weeks downloading over wifi).
Any suggestions on how to get around this problem?  Bottom line is that I want this large playlist (my favourite stuff) resident on the phone so I can listen without a wifi connection.  But I also want iTunes Match turned on so that I can listen to everything when I do have a wifi connection.  Any way to do this without downloading the playlist over wifi?
    iPhone 6, 128GB, iOS 8.1.1

i have been dealing with the same issue since I started using iTunes match. it's the worst.
i recently restored my iphone 6 (same model) and now it's even doing something else.
im trying to download 1230 songs and it only even attempts to download about 100 at a time. it freezes on the rest and doesn't even put them in a queue.
    this issue needs SERIOUS attention.

  • How do I recover my library from iTunes match?

Since subscribing to iTunes match I removed my iTunes folder from Time Machine backups. Following HDD failure I replaced my HDD, recovered from TM backup and now need all my music back. How do I recover it from the cloud?

iTunes Match is in no way an adequate backup - this is due to the inexact nature of the matching process.
You can retrieve the Songs by signing into iTunes Store, starting iTunes Match selecting all the Songs listed and downloading them from iCloud.
If it is helpful you can also access again any Songs you have purchased from the iTunes Store by using the 'Purchased' quick link from the iTunes Store home screen.
Strong advice once you have a set of Song files restored to your library, do make Songs part of your standing backup routine.  Sadly any original Songs mismatched by iTunes Match will not be recoverable.

  • ITunes won't play music anymore from iTunes Match

In February I purchased the iTunes Match service and uploaded about 2000 songs to it.  Some purchased directly from iTunes over the years and some ripped from my CD collections.   After verifying that it works fine, I deleted the ~250GB of space that they took on my older MacBook Pro to make space for other things.
A couple of weeks ago I got my new MacBook Pro Retina (great!) and I've started to use iTunes on it.  I've added it to my Apple ID account and "authorized" it inside iTunes and expected to continue and use it to listen to music and all.
I was able to see all my music listed clearly and also all my genious mixes but nothing happens with I try to Play anything.   No message and no complaint, simply silence.   If I purchase and download a new song, I can play it, but nothing from the cloud!
I tried to "Update iTunes Match" and still nothing happens and I can't play a thing.
I tried to "Turn Off iTunes Match" and then turned it back on.  The entire list disappeared on me and after a long wait, I don't see it coming back... I'm out of the country right now and I see this small note at the bottom of the Music section of iTunes saying that "Music is available in the iTunes Store in select countries".    I'm using the US store and can certainly purchase music and movieds but the iTunes Match stopped working on me.

Well, after another restart of iTunes, my list of 2000 songs magically appeared and I can now play it.
So, this seemed to be a glitch that amended itself.

  • Deleting music downloaded from iTunes Match

I have a first-gen iPad and its synced with my Windows 7 computer. I use iTunes Match on the desktop, a  Win7 laptop, and the iPad. I downloaded some music onto the iPad, and now its taking up about 2.5 Gb of space that I could use for other things.
I found a link to a walkthru here, but its for an older version of iTunes. I tried doing it anyway, but as the instructions said, connect the iPad, open iTunes, and click on the iPad icon, then on the Summary and check "Manually Manage music and videos." Well that's not an option, all it says is Manually manage Videos. No mention of songs anywhere, not even in the other tabs as far as I can tell.

I've had a case opened up for at least a month, now.
    I re-tried my Jay-Z album and it's still borked.

  • How do I replace my library from itunes match?

    Hi all,
I use itunes match on 2 computers. Both computers housed varying parts of my physical library and the drive on one of the compters died. So now when itunes tries to play those files, it says the file cannot be located. I want to replace the library on this computer with the itunes match library and then re-download the files. Any suggestions on how to do this?
    Thanks,
    Gabe

    Hi,
If the tracks are in match, deleted track but do not check remove from the cloud. You should now have a download arrow. You can now download to your computer.
