Can I restore my iphone back to itunes

I lost everything...even my back ups. I would like to copy everything from my phone..everything...  apps, pics, audio books etc. I know there is a ton of software out there, but I don't really trust the claims.  Can anyone suggest software that will copy my entire ipone back in to my itunes? Basically copy it so everything is back to the way it was?  Thanks, Timm       if you know how to do it and can tell me, that would be cool too.

You don't need third party software to sync your iTunes purchases from your iPhone to your computer.
Connect your iPhone to your PC, launch iTunes. From the iTunes File menu click: Transfer Purchases from.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer

  • Can I restore an iPhone back up to an iPod Touch?

I just dropped my iPhone in water but I need to retrieve my iCloud data. Can I restore an iPhone iCloud back up onto an iPod Touch? If anybody has any ideas please let me know. Thanks guys!

Yes, I know you can with a backup on your computer so I would assume you can with an iCloud backup as well.

  • ITunes can't restore an iphone back up

I just got the new iPhone 4s and I am trying to restore the last back up I just did on my old iPhone 4. When I try to set up my new iPhone to restore las back up I get this message "iTunes could not restore the iPhone because the back up was corrupt or not compatible with the iphone that is being restored. I synced my old phone again and try to restore from that back up and I get the same message, can someone help?

I had the same problem with my iPhone 4 today, failed on several attempts.
I'm pretty sure the cause was that I was running out of storage space, so it ran out of space trying to restore stuff (of course it should tell you that's the problem but it doesn't).  I deleted a few GB of stuff off it, and then it restored fine.

  • Can I restore a iPhone back up from time machine and if so how?

I have upgraded my iphone to IOS 7 this morning. However as I was backing up my phone, the cable I was using was removed from the macbook.
I now have a iPhone back up that is corrupted, and when i try and restore my settings to the new IOS7 upgraded phone, it will not allow my old settings to be placed on the phone.
I am therefore thinking of using an old back up from Time Machine, but do not know how to access itunes from time machine. Everytime I try and enter iTunes from my Time Machine vault it says Mac OSX requires the application and therefore cannot be restored.
Please help or tell me what I should be doing instead.
I have a feeling I will lose my app data and have to manually sort my home screens. Luckily all my contacts, emails, photos etc are synced to iCloud, but the back up of my iphone isn't as I don;t have the upgraded space on ICloud and have a iPhone thta has 16GB on it.
Cheers in anticipation of your help

Hi Lawrence. Thanks so much for that advice - I'm really grateful. I hope you don't mind me asking a couple more questions: I have found that folder via Finder - I clicked on Library then App Support then Mobile Sync and within that, there's a folder called Backup and within that, 4 files. I also tried accessing it via the Go/go to folder method you suggested (in case that revealed more which remain hidden unless I use your route) but I couldn't make that route work.
I presume I'm looking at the correct files but please advise me if it's still possible that I'm not.
I had already tried to look at these backup files in Time Machine. They appear to be backed up, going back a year. If I can restore one from yesterday, that should solve my problem. However I've looked through them randomly going back a month or more, and they all seem to have been created in 2013, and last modified then. Only one of the files has a more recent 'last modified' date. But surely Time Machine has captured each backup of the iPhone going back over time?   I'm baffled.
I hope the above makes sense. I'd be really grateful for any further advice.

  • My hard drive crashed on my PC - how do I restore from iPhone back into iTunes?

My hard drive crashed on my PC - how do I get the 24 GB of music off my iPhone and back into iTunes?

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • TS3694 I can not restore my iphone 3g ; either itunes or my phone is not allowing me too. help!?! I am a ANGRY CUSTOMER!!

Someone needs to help me troubleshoot my iphone 3g or send me another one because I'm starting to get upset!

What have you tried? What happened?
I backed up my phone to set it to get the lastest iOS version and it won't allow me to restore my phone and it is stuck on recovery.
What is the exact wording of any error message you received?
i honestly dont know , but it included the numbers 1011 on it. So i redownloaded itunes to make sure it was updated and restarted my computer and it still won't remove itself from recovery mode.
Does the app Cydia appear on the iPhone?
    No
Is the iPhone jailbroken or otherwise hacked?
    No
Provide some details so a suggestion can be offered. Or do you
    just want to rant?
Just offer any type of anything right now. I am a computer consultant ; I tried stuff I already knew but it didnt work. I honestly just want a new one sent to me.

  • Can´t restore unlocked iPhone 4 on iTunes for Windows 7

Pre-used iPhone 4. Got it from my sister, who unlocked it. (Still, the settings on the phone - Settings/General/Information- still mention the previous provider.)
I got a new microSIM card - different provider- and I´m finding several problems to restore it as a new phone on iTunes.
    1) Can´t update iTunes:
My iTunes is set for automatic updates.  But it´s been a while that it no longer gets updated on its own. When trying manually - checking for updates- I get the following message: "the iTunes update server can not be contacted". My internet connection is fine. Re troubleshooting, i´ve modified the host file, refreshed DNS... still not working though.
    2) Locked iPhone, enter passcode on phone. ?
When connecting iPhone to iTunes, either turned on or off, this message shows: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "name" because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
I do not know which password it is referring to.  There´s no 4digit security code to unlock it, I deactivated it.
What does it rmean? Where should I type what?
    3) once step 2 is done, Restore as a new phone.
According to the steps that I am supposed to follow, iTunes should recognize my turned off iPhone as in "restoring mode" (turn off completely, connect usb to computer, press start button on iPhone while connecting the other end of the usb cable... Apple logo shows on a black screen. Open iTunes just then, and it´ll recognize the phone is in Restore mode). It is not happening. What should I do? Are my instructions even right?
Just in case it helps, I´m using Windows 7, iPhone 4, my previous provider is Orange - Europe- and the current one Vodafone. I have an iTunes account, my iTunes works perfectly when syncing my iPod touch - except for the updates-... Software on iPhone is updated - iOS 7.1.1- ...
    Many thanks in advance!! :-)

Sorry, now the message has changed to "itunes cannot connect to the iphone "" - does not recognize my name-because an invalid response was received from the device"

  • How can I restore my iphone back to factory reset after it has been disabled from trying so many times to unlocked with the wrong passcode?

My son had place a passcode and don't remember it and he try so many times to unlocked the phone but since he did it so many times and it was the wrong passcode the phone now is disabled, How can I get it to work again?

Well, the level of pain you are about to experience will hinge on what level of backup you have of the phone. If none, you will soon have a blank, from-factory phone you will have to reconfigure from scratch.

How can i restore my iphone which was erased by iCloud?? I got my phone back but it wont work when i connect to iTunes.

The following assumes you've been backing up to icloud all along.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings.  This will erase your device.  Then you will go through the setup screens again as you did when your device was new, and when given the option, select Restore from iCloud Backup.
Let us know if this method does not work.

    - You do have iTunes version 11 on the computer, right. Saying the latest is not sufficient.
    - Have you tried everthing here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    - You should
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
Your library/media will not be affected.
    - Does the iPod charge?

  • HT204150 i have deleted all contacts in icloud but still have them on my iphone (which is backed up as well to iTunes) how can i restore the iphone data to the iCloud so it will resend it to my mac book and iPad?

i have deleted all contacts in icloud but still have them on my iphone (which is backed up as well to iTunes) how can i restore the iphone data to the iCloud so it will resend it to my mac book and iPad? I have switched my iphone to airplane mode so it is not connected to the internet and so icloud can not wipe it at the moment.
    thanks roy

There's a menu choice (I think under "Files") that lets you sync purchased items on a device back to itunes.  Look for that.
iCloud does not store music.  If you want to do that you'd have to subscribe to itunes Match, but to get music to the match servers, you need the music in the itunes library on your computer.

  • Can I restore a playlist from my iPhone back into iTunes?

My playlist disapeared from iTunes, but it is still in my iPhone.  Is there any way to restore my playlist from my iphone back into iTunes?

iTunes is designed to 'sync' onto iPods, NOT the other way 'round. In order to copy content from an iPod back onto a computer, it requires a third-party utility (if you Google 'iTunes alternatives' you'll see many possible options]. Most of them are free.

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. Also, everyone who has figured it out has found it to be a different password type, so try your Apple ID password, your computer's login password, your WiFi password, your corporate domain password, etc. And try passwords that may have been changed since your first backup. As a last resort there is a professional password cracker available, but it isn't cheap - it's targeted at the law enforcement market - from Elcomsoft. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. It's likely that a developer of one or more of these will post a response with a link (possibly hidden) to their "product". So before clicking any links you might want to install the Web of Trust plugin that keeps track of scam sites and warns you. http://www.mywot.com.

hmm thats kinda odd! how he managed to do that i dont know I thought the backups were locked per phone or phonenubmers serial.  Anyhow IF you have no backup at all then you have lost everything.  There is software out there that can recover data on the phone that was deleted..  I would personally click restore on Itunes and restart over.  You cant get back what you lost that easy and software that does recover deleted data may not allways work 100% and costs money for the software..
    Lesson learned huh..

Don't you just love changes in interfaces?
I found the answer to my question.
When you attach a device (iPhone, iPad) to your Mac, in iTunes 12 in appears as a tiny icon in the second "row" of the iTunes display. Click the icon and the familiar iTunes display for the device appears. From there, on the Summary screen, you can see the dates of the backups of the device (iCloud and backup to the computer). You can also use the button to backup to the computer.
