Can I restore the sidebar presentation in Itunes 12.0
Until I installed Itunes 12.0 today, the contents of my media library and the contents of my Ipod were both accessible in the lefthand sidebar in Itunes. If I wanted to put an audiobook or piece of music on my Ipod, I selected the files I wanted in the media library and dragged them to the desired playlist on my Ipod.
I Sync podcasts. I don't Sync music or audiobooks,. I don't store them in my media library. I don't want to and, basically, won't.
That being said, moving from media library to device has become cumbersome and annoying. There doen't seem to be any way to move a file from library to device in less than 4 steps:
1, Select the elipsis (...) icon to the left of the device icon.
2. Select the file type from the drop down list.
3. Select the one (I can't seem to select more) title graphic from the multiple title graphics (that apparently can't be converted into a convenient list) and move mouse right to reveal a sidebar.
4a. Drag the one file to the device (which is now visible to left of the graphic swarm).
4b. Optionally add file to one of the playlists in the drop down list.
Repeat (apparently) for every audiobook or piece of music to be moved.
Whoopee.
Is there any way to get library and device into the sidebar?
Is there any way to convert the swarm of graphics into a list so that multiple files can be selected?

I am now migrating computers and this has made it a royal PITA. Before, I could have all the listings, including my shared library, and I could just drag-and-drop from my shared library to the new one. Not anymore. Now I have to go in and import. Which, like many other people, takes a long time because of the size of our music collections. My rock category alone looks like it's going to take several days. I don't have a flash drive large enough to just copy to that and then move that way.
So thank you so very much Apple for once again fixing something that wasn't broken.

The Sidebar is the MAIN part of iTunes I have used for several years. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of updating iTunes to 12, and the Sidebar is completely gone. As far as I can see there is no way to get it back.

You can activate the sidebar (View > Show Sidebar) and the status bar (View > Show Status Bar). They makes iTunes 11 more similar to older versions -
My itunes account is messed up. How can I restore my playlist folders in itunes? The list's are there but the individual song titles aren't. They are only listed by album. I can only see the song titles as they are played at the top of my itunes. This makes it very difficult to find songs in my playlist. It sounds like your issue here is that iTunes can not find the files for some of the songs you have brought into it. This happens occasionally even if the songs have not been moved from the location that iTunes places them on import or purchase. When you try to use the song, iTunes prompts you to find the file, as you have seen.

We have two iphones each with a different apple id - can i use the same laptop and itunes for back up, restore and updates without risking having my apps overwritten. Basically does itunes keep the two iphones as two separate entities ? Does iTunes differentiate between the two devices and keep two different SYNCs ?
Yes, you can use the same computer for BACK UPS, RESTORING AND UPDATING. But that is it.
You cannot, however, use it to sync the different devices. iTunes will only recognize one device to sync with and if you sync any other devices with that iTunes library, it will replace what is on the phone with whatever is in the library. It cannot differentiate between devices. At most, it will jsut recognize that the phone has been synced with a different iTunes library.
So if you would like to use the same computer for backing up, restoring and updating, just make sure to turn of Automatic Syncing in your iTunes Preferences. -

Problem: Recently when I open iTunes it doesn't work; the little pinwheel just keeps spinning.

You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files.

After running the combo updater, select Software Updater and update iTunes.
If iTunes fails to open after updating, hold down the Option key when launching iTunes. It will ask you to locate your iTunes Library.
Note: I've seen users with their iTunes Library on an external drive spin like this when the drive was failed to be seen in Disk Utility. Run Repair Drive on the external drive to fix this issue. -
i have deleted all contacts in icloud but still have them on my iphone (which is backed up as well to iTunes) how can i restore the iphone data to the iCloud so it will resend it to my mac book and iPad? I have switched my iphone to airplane mode so it is not connected to the internet and so icloud can not wipe it at the moment.
thanks royThere's a menu choice (I think under "Files") that lets you sync purchased items on a device back to itunes. Look for that.
iCloud does not store music. If you want to do that you'd have to subscribe to itunes Match, but to get music to the match servers, you need the music in the itunes library on your computer. -

You can keep trying to restore the device from backup until you remember the password. If you're having trouble, try:
Leaving the password field blank
Your Apple ID password
Your computer account password, if you have one
Email passwords you may have used
Your Wi-Fi network password
Website passwords you may have used
A password for hard-disk encryption software, if you use it

I have already update to iOS 6.1 on my iPhone 4. I have a problem to sync with the iTunes. I cannot backup, sync or transfer purchases from the iTunes. I can only restore the backup. Anyone has any idea how to solve this problem?
also must mention i have never had trouble that i couldn't fix on itunes but all of this has started since i have been using icloud for basic backups hope this helps solve problem

Even though I have a credit card I manage my iTunes account use gift cards. I prefer to keep the credit card for emergency purposes only since it's too easy for me to get carried away with it and run up the balance.
The problem here is in the Canadian iTunes Store you _can not_ use store credits for software or game purchase. According to this post - http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?t=231967 - it is apparently against Canadian tax laws and commerce restrictions to purchase these with store credits or gift cards. Also as suggested in other posts here using PayPal to add credits to your iTunes account will not work since they are credits.
I don't really understand the issue here. I pay cash for my store credits and I pay cash to pay off my credit card. My gift cards were probably bought with a credit card. This will restrict sales in Canada since I would guess the majority of iPod owners are too young to obtain a credit card. -
