Can I resync my phone to a different computer without resetting it.
My computer was stolen. Can I resync my phone to a new computer without resetting my iPhone. My phone is the only copy of my music and photos that I have left. How do I get them off of it and onto a new computer?
I don't know about the syncing part with an iPod but iTunes includes a feature to import content purchased from the iTunes Music Store only from an iPhone and iPod - music or video that was transferred to the iPhone that was not purchased from the iTunes Music Store is not included with this process and this doesn't take care of photos transferred from your computer to the iPhone.
If you do a Google search, I believe there is a 3rd party utility that provides for importing photos and maybe all music and video from your iPhone.
And for future reference, it is a good idea to maintain a backup of all your important information stored on an external drive used for backup purposes only for this and other important reasons. It isn't a matter of if but when your hard drive has a partial or complete failure since none last forever. There are some inexpensive utilities that provide for creating a bootable clone backup of your entire hard drive using an external firewire drive preferable for this purpose.
If you had been doing this, you could restore your entire hard drive to your new computer as of the last updated backup. SuperDuper is a good utility for this purpose and after the first complete bootable clone backup which takes some time, SuperDuper includes a Smart backup feature which updates only the data that has changed since the last backup.

Can I sync my iPod to a different computer WITHOUT losing all of my music?
Can I sync my iPod to a different computer WITHOUT losing all of my music?
Yes. Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time, meaning that when you try to sync it with a new library, it will erase everything that is currently on the iPod and replace it with what is in the new library.
So the first thing you are going to want to do is copy everything from your iPod back to your PC first using one of the methods described in this older post from another forum member Zevoneer.

How can I sync my phone to a new computer without everything being deleted?
I just got a new macbook pro, and i want to sync my phone to the itunes on here. i dont have my old computer which i previously synced my phone to. I haven't synced my phone in over 2 years but i am getting the 5s soon and want to be able to transfer my music to it. however, every time i choose to sync my phone to my laptop it tells me i will have to delete all the music i have purchased. i have over 600 songs and many apps... how can i sync my phone without losing everything?
You cannot.
This is how it works.
You should copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone to your itunes. File>Devices>Transfer Purchases -
if i am to sync my phone to a different computer and it has been backed up will i be able to get all my info back (photos, contacts, etc)??
Correct. When you update via iTunes all synced media that is not in your iTunes library will be lost.
As IO said before:
You can redownload most iTunes pruchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
I do not think it included audio books. -

How can i transfer iWeb projects to a different computer?
This may be a simple question, but does anyone know how I can transfer an iWeb project from one computer to another, so that I can work on the site from a different computer than the one that created it?
The same way you transfer all your other documents.

My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? The ipod works fine and now i got a new computer. So it seems like my only options are leaving my ipod in a state where i cant add anymore songs or erasing all my songs and trying to use my ipod from my new computer. Can someone please inform me on how to have my ipod work from a different computer, even if i have to erase my songs. Thanks.
Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.
If you would like to save the content that's currently on your iPod, see this older thread from another forum member Zevoneer discussing the different ways to copy the content on an iPod back to your PC.

How do I get the sync of my 3GS on my computer to transfer everything (files, apps, etc.) to my new iphone4? And then how do I move the sync to a newer computer so I can sync the new phone with the new computer?
My 3GS is dying and it's synced to an older computer. I have tons of datafiles as well as apps, music, text messages, etc. that I need to get moved to the new iphone4 I'm getting. Then I need to move the sync to a newer computer so that I can sync the new phone and new computer.
I understand how to get my apps to transfer to a new pc. That's not the issue. It's getting ALL the data from the 3GS to the 4 and then to a new computer.
Thanks. Thanks much, that's very helpful for step one (getting old phone onto new phone). Very clear.
However, I still have the problem of moving to the new computer. How do I move the sync to the new computer after the new phone is set up? -
how can i sync music from my phone onto my new computer without losing it all? my old computer's hard drive crashed so it is unusable.
If you do not have a back up of the crashed hard drive you can download an app to copy from the iPhone to iTunes on the new hard drive.
I have used Pod2Mac. There is also Pod2PC.
There are numerous choices, some free, some payed. Do a Google search. -

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

The laptop I originally synch'd my iphone 4s with is broken and cannot retrieve any files. How can I sync the phone with a new laptop without losing all my downloaded music and apps already installed on my iphone?
If the answer to the above question is "yes", FIRST, set up a backup of your new computer before you do anything else so the next time your computer breaks you will not be in the same situation. Backup solutions are numerous and inexpensive, and there is absolutely no excuse in the Third Millennium not to have one.

I had to change my user ID because I used my email at my old job and now the old one keeps popping up and I can't sync my phone or authorize my computer at work to sync my phone. I have a new user ID and PW that allows me into ITUNES but that old one won't go away. Any help? Thanks
Hi, you can't change which ID was used to purchase any app. However, you can edit your Apple ID, which may be a better option than using a new id.
