Can i retrieve all my lost music after syncing to a new computer
just backed up my ipad to my new macbook and have lost all my music..help..devastated :/
If you synced to a new iTunes library that did not contain all of your music and didn't transfer the music first, then that would cause you to lose all of your music. You can only sync what is already in the iTunes library. If the library is empty when you sync, that erases your device.
But what puzzles me is that you should have gotten a message from iTunes alerting you that the contents would be erased if you synced the iPad. Did you get the message? If you did, did you ignore it and why would you ignore it if you did get it?
If the music was purchased from iTunes, you may be able to download much of it again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID that you bought it with. Read this for more information.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store ... - Support - Apple
If the music was imported from CD's and you no longer have the CD's or the old computer, there is no way to retrieve it.

I got the new iPhone5 back in Dec, I hooked it up to my computer for the 1st time this wk. It deleted all new data added since Dec (notes, contacts, texts, pics, info added to apps) and reverted back to all my old data (literally uploaded all of my old texts and 1400 old pics and deleted anything new). How can I retrieve all the lost data?? Please help!!

My current situation: I have soooo many texts on my iphone and I haven't deleted many because I need the information contained in them for future reference and for legal purposes. I would really like to find a means and way to save them other than on the phone itself. I've done searches for various apps yet I'm not finding what I think I would need. It appears Apple does not sync the texts between the iphone and my MacBook Pro.
Try the computer apps PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac & PC):

My old computer broke and I lost all my music. I have now purchased a new computer and downloaded all my music again through the store but can not figure how to download my ringtones again. How do you download your ringtones again without buying them again??? Thankyou in advance
You cannot redownload ringtones.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Have you failed to do this? -
Hi - I have recently had to wipe my hard disk which meant all my music has gone with it so I have an empty iTunes music library.
The only way I can see of doing it is
- going to the store
- selecting Purchased
- then I get a list of artists or albums down the left hand side
- have to select each individually and click Download All on the bottom left - for over 100+ its going to take forever ! Is there an easier way ?????
Thanks !You can only sync your device to one iTunes library at a time. You can either copy the music from the library on your other computer to the one you have loaded the new CDs onto, or you can purchase an external CD Drive and load them to the iTunes library you are currently sync'd with:

For syncing, I am not familiar with the drag and drop method. I have always used the normal sync process:
iTunes 12 for Mac: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iTunes 12 for Windows: Sync iPod, iPhone, or iPad

I am trying to locate all of my music... It is not under my account, not in my Itunes, and I don't know anything about the cloud. Please assist.
Unless you subscribe to itunes match, icloud has nothing to do with music. Are you syncing music from a computer's itunes to a device?

I got a new Lenovo Windows computer and I'm trying to transfer my iTunes library to my new computer. I can't figure out how. I tried plugging in my iPhone and it synched what music was on my phone but I don't have my entire library on my phone and none of my playlists transferred. I tried authorizing my computer and it is but it still isn't showing up. I turned on my homesharing on my new and old computer but apparently I have two other computers I have authorized and I don't know which ones they are, probably ones that have been thrown out. What do I do now?
iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer. -
Here's the deal..when I got my iPod 80GB Classic I had my iTunes on my laptop. I synched all my music, videos, and most of my pictures from the laptop to my iPod but soon after i did that the motherboard of my laptop went bad and so now I can't even turn the laptop on. I probably could get it working again but I can't aford to right now. I want to know if there's a way I can put all the stuff that's on my ipod on a different working computer. I need access to my files so I can use them for other things like burning CDs and printing pictures. Can i get to my files on the old computer even though it's broken? Or can I just use the iPod to move it all to where I can use the files? It's irritating that I HAVE all the stuff I'm wanting but I can't do what I want with it cuz it's all just on the iPod.

How to retrieve all data from iPod Touch and copy to new computer?
I recently purchased a new iPod and MacBook. The MacBook was stolen and I had to buy a new one. I have a lot of music and photos on the iPod I would like to recover and copy back to the MacBook. However, the iTunes says it will delete everything. I want it to sync everything from the iPod and continue with that data.
How can I do this?
Thanks,
gonzobrainsYou're welcome, child.
"backups. But that's not my point. I find it disappointing that I cannot sync my data both ways."
O.K. It still is the way it is.
"Here I have gigabytes of data sitting right here on my iPod and no way to natively copy it back to my new computer without purchasing third-party software."
Yes, this is true.
"Every other mobile device I have ever owned let's you easily copy back to a computer. Just plug it in, mount it, and there you go."
As you now know, this is not the case with the ipod touch.
You asked how and I told you that you cannot without 3rd party software. What is it that you want?
Simply maintaining a backup (basic) would solve the issue. -

My old desktop crashed and I had over 800+ songs on my old computer. I have a new laptop but want to transfer ALL songs to my new computer not just those purchased on iTunes. I want to save all 800+ songs and then begin to download new songs to my iPod. Any suggestions?

I am trying to load my music on my sisters computer. How long does it normally take for the first time to download? Her computer has been "Checking for new purchases," for about an hour now.
10 hours does not seem right at all. Should take several minutes at best. The entire OS installation is under an hour. Post your issue in the FCS forum area here:

Okay basically i had 166 apps in my ipod...
After i bought new laptop and wanted to sync into it, it said to transfer apps from ipod touch to laptop, i did, but it only transferred part of it and said the remaining was not able to be transfered...
i had encountered this problem when i transfered the apps in my old pc to my old laptop, now that i wan to transfer apps from my old laptop to my new one, i thought i knew what to do..
i knew the problem was with the fact that the other apps was bought with another apple id thus not able to transfer as it is not yet authorised... while it was syncing, i authorised the older apple id that the apps was not synced yet... after i did, i realised i was left with the apps bought with my new apple id only...
then i realised i lost all my data on my older apps, like the privacy photo app which had memories of my photos stored in it.. tap tap 4 all my songs in it... and 70 other apps..
What happened? this did not happen in my previous attempt during my transfer of apps from old pc to old laptop... so why?
its really really sad... all my data was lost, i got back the apps though.. but data in it all LOST...
what to do? can i still retrieve it back?- Try redownling the apps by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
The computer has to be authorized and signed into the account that originaly purchased them.
- When all the apps are ih the iTunes library, try restoring from backup if you have the backup that would contain all the app date. I would turn off autosyncing (go to iTunes>Prefernces>Device and check the box titled Prevent iPods...automatically" to prevent overwritting the previous backup. -
