Can I retrieve contacts from a past (not most recent) backup?

The other day, my iPhone 4 decided to delete 95% of my contacts. Unfortunately when I realized this, my phone had already automatically backed up to iCloud, so the most recent backup didn't include any of my contacts. My Time Machine has been iffy and hasn't backed up recently AND I'm unsure if my contacts were saved to iTunes... I had never done that manually (didn't actually know it was an option until recently) but maybe it automitcally synced my contacts?
When I right click on my device in iTunes, restore from backup is not an option. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can restore from a backup from like 5 days ago? Is there a way to see a list of old backups or something? Ah I just want my contacts back! I don't care if I lose the pictures or texts I've sent in the last couple days, any help is greatly appreciated!

Although I had a back-up of them, the backup disappeared when another backup was done automatically when the phone synced automatically at a later date. Please start your own thread rather than by replying to a threadjacker in a post that's been dormant for over six months, especially as you couldn't have been updating to any version of iOS 5. Use a properly descriptive subject line, explain the problem you're having, what error messages you've gotten and what steps you've taken to so far to troubleshoot.

There are several ways of backing up contacts:
They are included in backups of your phone to iTunes
They are included in backups of your phone to iCloud
You can set up the phone to sync contacts with an app on your computer when you sync the phone with iTunes
You can set up an iCloud account and sync the contacts to iCloud (this is different from backing up)
You can set the phone to sync contacts with your gmail contact list
You can set the phone to sync contacts with an MS Exchange server if you have an account on one.
If you did not do any of these things they are lost.

I've seen this now with Preview and QuickTime so far and it's really annoying. If I double click a file to preview or play it, why would I want the last files I'd viewed to also reopen without my asking for it?

To switch off the "Restore windows ..." generally is the "brute force method".
With some apps, this behavior is really a benefit (e.g. Terminal, Texteditors, ...).
So you might decide to selectively switch off this behavior for each app, that should not restore:

I didn't write they were not included in the backup, just why they are part of the backup.

Your back up via iCloud is only for use for restoring your phone after wiping it. You can't inspect or utilise specific parts of the back up.

If your contacts are on icloud.com, download them as a vCard as explained here: iCloud: Export contact information as a vCard. Then import them to your phone as explained in your manual. If you aren't able to, you can create a Gmail account and import the vCard to Gmail as explained here: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/183711?hl=en, then add the Gmail account to your phone and sync your contacts from Gmail.
If they aren't on icloud.com, I'm not sure how you would access them from a backup on a Samsung, even if there was a backup.

You can't. Not directly anyway. You might be able to import them to your computer and then sync them to the iPad but there is no way to transfer them over the air or by connecting the two devices with a cable.

The only way I know of to import cells from a csv file is by creating a new file. But then you can select the desired cells and copy them to the other file. I just did it to be sure it works.
1. Create the new spreadsheet file via the upload command.
2. Select the cells (table) that you want to move to the other file and press command+C (copy).
3. Close the new file and open the existing file.
4. Select the top/right cell of the area to receive the copied "table" and press commant+V (paste).
I hope this is what you're trying to do!
