Can I retrieve songs from iPhone to new PC?  Old PC died without backup

My problem is that my old PC died a blue screen death and although most stuff was backed up, my music wasn't.
I don't seem able to synch the tunes from the phone back onto the new PC. Is it only one way, computer to phone?
Also I now have new tunes on my PC because it tends to be quicker to download.
Am I doomed to separate iTunes libraries forever and never synching my music?

Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
As noted above, Apple have designed iTunes to support one-way media transfer, computer to device, with the small exception of device to computer transfer for purchased content. However a number of 3rd party tools exist, ranging from free to overpriced, which are able to transfer some, more or perhaps even all of your meaningful data from your iPhone to your computer. Your favourite web search engine should offer numerous hits for *iPhone to PC transfer* however you might like to start with a quick read of this post from Zevoneer for options on moving data back to your computer. Although it mainly deals with iPod recovery he mentions some tools which are iPhone compatible. There is also the free manual method mentioned somewhere which wouldn't normally apply to the iPhone (no disc mode) however free tools such as iPhone Explorer can get you around that limitation.
Best of luck with restoring your data.

  • How can i delete songs from iPhone when they are grayed out

how can i delete songs from iPhone when they are grayed out. It doesnt let me delete from itunes either and its just taking up space on my iphone and i cant even listen to the song that are grayed out

I did this with about 100 songs, and the problem is everytime I connect my iphone with itunes, It will automatically sync back every single song I did delete on the phone by swiping.
I did search on google and found out that serveral people has this problem. The songs wont delete from itunes library.
So why do they even make this function if it only deletes the songs for a short time?

  • Can't synch songs from iphone to macbook itunes?

I must have accidentally deleted the five most recent albums I bought on itunes from my computer, because on my itunes I get an '!' next to them, and I can't find them on my computer or my external hard-drive (where I generally store my music, and have backups of my computer). I then tried to redownload these from itunes, but if I click on them in store I just get 'already downloaded' and I can't do anything - I can't even buy them again.
On my iphone, I could recover the songs using the cloud symbol, so I have them there, but now I can't get them from the phone to my laptop itunes. I tried transfer purchases, but it didn't work - nothing seemed to happen, and then I still get the '!' and 'itunes can't locate your files' message on my macbook itunes.
Is there any way I can get the songs from my iphone to my macbook? All the missing albums were purchased from itunes, some on my phone, some on my computer, both on the same apple account.

    Try this:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
you should be able to download the songs again using you purchase history.

  • Why can I delete songs from iPhone if they return when synced??

Why is there an option to delete songs from iPhone if it dosn't really delete them?? When you delete songs from the iPhone it will put them right back in as soon as you press sync. The only way around it is to manage you music manually witch is allot harder and now when you delete from iPhone it won't sync them back in but you now don't know what you removed. So you won't be able to put them back in unless you put back to auto and put all songs back in. What should happen is when you sync with pc the songs you removed from iPhone should automatically be unmarked so they are not synced back in and you know what you have deleted. Why is this so hard for apple to do!!!!!?????

  • I can't delete songs from iphone

For some reason I can't fathom I can't delete music from my iPhone in iTunes. I manually manage my songs and usually I hit the delete button and the album/songs will be removed from my phone. All that happens now when I do this is when I hit the delete button it scrolls to the last album on my phone.
Also when I try this in iTunes the same thing happens, I can only delete songs/albums from my iTunes library by right clicking and selecting delete (an option I don't have when trying to delete songs from my iPhone)
Can anybody help? I am running iTunes 10.4 on OS Lion on a Macbook Pro, with iPhone 4. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and retoring my phone from a previous back up. Didn't work.

You have posted to the iTunes Match forum which your question is not related to. You will get better support responses by posting to either the Using iPhone or the appropriate iTunes forum.

  • How can i delete songs from iphone?

There are a few songs that aren't being deleted even though they aren't checked and aren't in the playlist in iTunes.  How can I delete these from the iPhone?

Thank you!  For some reason, I'm able to swipe and delete only the songs from the playlist that was checked.  There were a few songs on the iphone that are not on the checked playlist and when I swipe them, the "delete" button does not appear - and the song begins to play.

  • How to retrieve songs from iphone

My harddrive crashed and I installed a new one.  When I installed Itunes it will not let me import the music that is saved thru itunes in my phone.  How do I get the songs from my Iphone to my Itunes?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Last year I copied all my CD's onto my PC, then via iTunes onto my iPhone, I subsequently gave the CD's to charity.
Since you gave the CDs away, you should delete all the songs from those CDs because you no longer hold a license for those songs. You are violating the copyright license.

  • Can I save messages from both my new and old iphone

I was unable to set up my new iphone 6 right away due to computer issues where my itunes and phone backup are stored. Now I have messages on both my new and old iphones that I don't want to lose, but I need to restore my new phone with the backup of the old. Is there any way to add the messages from the new iphone to the backup of the old?

Not really - but at least you are thinking about it in advance which is good
The restore from backup as you know is a snapshot in time of your phone
So if you restore from the old - you lose the new messages after that point
You may be able to use software like TouchCopy to get the messages off your phone - either old or new

  • Transferring songs from Mini to new computer (old crashed)

I have a new computer since my old one crashed, and I don't have any backup of my old songs. Is there any way to transfer the songs from my Ipod Mini to my new computer? I read that the transfer can only go from my computer to my Ipod unless I put the Ipod in disk mode, which I can't do, since I no longer have the Itunes my Ipod was connected to. I'm afraid if I hook the Ipod up to my new computer it will erase all my songs. HELP, please!

    No worry
Download and install a 3rd party e.g. YamiPod and use it to copy the songs from your iPod to your new PC

  • Transfer songs from iphone to new mac (my hard-drive failed and has been replaced), some songs i have bought on itunes and others were old copies, any ideas?

    hi
i have recently had my mac hard-drive replaced and consequently have lost all my old stuff - had to download a new itunes for example. i synced everything onto my iphone before it broke luckily. some songs i purchased on itunes, others i downloaded ages ago from CDs. how do i transfer these onto my itunes library again so i can sync?

iTunes can transfer your purchases or you can download them again.  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
For songs ripped from CDs, you need to use a 3rd-party utility.  Here are two that will help you.

  • How can I get songs from iPhone into iTunes

okay so on my old computer (and on my iphone now) i had/have around 1000 songs in my itunes from various websites, around half of these are free downloads of independant artists and things like that, so not purchased in itunes. the other half i did purchase. my old computer broke, so i can't get to any of the non purchased songs, besides from my phone. i transferred all my purchases into my new computers itunes so around 450 of my songs i can access, but the rest are only on my phone. itunes keeps prompting me to erase and sync but that would get rid of all the non purchased songs on my phone so they would basically be lost forever, right? i know they want me to do that to protect against illegal downloads and things like that but this stuff isn't downloaded illegally! is there anything i can do to get my music on this computer or am i basically screwed? also i've tried downloading a few free tracks from various websites (again, legally)... they are showing up in my itunes library but every time i try to drag them onto my phone it doesn't work. my computer is authorized and i've tried everyhting else i can think of... can anyone help? i have windows 8 and my itunes and iOS are both updated fully, if that makes any difference. thanks!

The iphone//ipad/ipod is not a backup/storage device.  The sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The exception is itunes purchases.
There is no free, or Apple supported,  way to extract any other music.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything back.
Iphone sync with one computer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content from the iphone and replace with the content of the new computer.

  • Can't put songs from iPod onto new computer

I just purchased a new computer, and would like to upload my music files from my iPod onto it. My computer recognizes the iPod, but won't let me copy songs to my computer. Does anyone know how I can do this?
    Compaq/HP   Windows XP

You can't sync your music back from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the files from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    PodPlus Windows Only
There is also a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
