Can I revert back to Snow Leopard?

Lion has been giving me nothing but problems. I am getting Mail error notifications every 5 minutes because of permissions issues, I STILL can't open anything in preview, iCal is not syncing up, and I can't get a connection in iTunes to properly sync to my phone.
As far as the permissions issues, I've been told to do the containers folder thing.. but there is no containers folder.
Any other fixes from anyone else?

This is a user to user forum. You can only revert to Snow Leopard through your backup. You might attempt piecemeal data recovery after backing up your Lion system, and copying your e-mail folders to IMAP if they weren't stored there before. Spotlight frequently needs to finish updating in the menu in the upper right (it will only have a search field if it is done, and say it is indexing if it is not), or some plugins may need upgrading to be Lion compatible before you upgrade to Lion. Since updateing to Snow leopard my computer has become very slow. The nice man at the White Cathedral said it was because of the age of my computer (bought 2007) and he wouldn't advice me to update to this level. I now wish to revert back to Snow Leopard. Is it Possible and how do you do it. I have a complete Time Machine backup on an external drive.
My computer is an iMac, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4GB SDRAM.

I've had it. I can't take Lion any more!! I am one of the idiots who downloaded Lion the first hour it became available. Since then, my life has become a nightmare. Lion is so buggy---Apple blew it big time with this software. Multiple crashes every day, I've lost thousands of saved emails, my calendar is all messed up....I am at my wit's end and I want NOTHING to do with Lion any more.
I don't care how difficult it is---I'm willing to do it. But I don't even know where to turn to get started for such a task, but how can I revert my Operating System back to 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)? I've been a Mac user since 1985 and I have never EVER had these types of problems. I thought that Apple would have released a software "patch" or something by now---but nope---the drama continues.
I am using a MacBook Pro, my OS is 10.7.1. Please---can someone point me in the right direction so that I can begin the process of dumping this terrible software so that I can go back to something that works?

Well, if you made a bootable clone with SL before installing Lion, it's easy - if you didn't, it's a bit more difficult. It will involve having to erase your hard drive, so back up your stuff first. Then, if you have the clone, simply boot from it, erase your drive and clone back. If not, insert your SL install disk, boot from it, erase your drive and reinstall.

Yes. Just boot up from your Snow Leopard DVD, and restore the last Time Machine backup that was made before you installed Lion.

Last night i upgraded to Lion. Have since found out my Focusrite 24 DSP audio interface wont work with Lion (No Drivers yet).... can i simply re-install Leopard from the install discs that came with my imac until such time as drivers become available for my hardware, then re-install Lion? Can this be done without clearing my entire hard-drive and starting again?

Of course it is going to be slow. 2GB of RAM is the absolute minimum to install Yosemite. If you are going to do anything on the Mac we recommend that you install as a workable minimum 4GB.

How do I uninstall Snow Leopard Server, so that I can revert back to Snow Leopard?

I was experimenting with the Snow Leopard Server DVD on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. I started the installation process, expecting that it would not install on the Startup Disk, as I had not booted from the DVD.
To my surprise it installed!
How do I "uninstall" or revert back to Snow Leopard, without have to take such drastic steps that I would lose all of my Snow Leopard System folder contents (such as doing a wipe and starting over with a fresh Snow Leopard install)? Thank you.

No, but it won't be affected unless something goes wrong. You still need to back it up, of course, just like all other data.

Stuck in Lion installation *LIMBO* - disk damaged, disk wont repair, disk is locked, wont revert back to snow leopard

I'm stuck in Limbo. I cant complete the install and cant revert back to snow leopard. All I have are the installer utilites (including safari).
I'm running a summer 2009 release macbook pro 17 inch. I downloaded the Lion install app and proceeded to follow the instructions and guided. After less than a minute the install stopped to say that it could not be completed because the hard disk is damaged and can’t be repaired.
So...I went to disc utility to verify the disk and this is what I got.

So I put in my Snow Leopard disk and went to repair disk. Now, THIS is what I got.
Disk Utility can’t repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files.
So then I wanted to go back to Snow Leopard at least, but I cant. When I go to “Startup Disk” and select my Mac 10.6.8 drive, it says:
You can’t change the startup disk from the selected disk.
Startup Disk could not gather enough information on Selected Disk.
So that’s annoying because it keeps me stuck in that installation "limbo" - not able to finish installing and not able to go back.
I restarted, holding down the OPTION key, but it only gave me one boot selection - the installer itself.
So then I try yet again to install this thing because there’s not much else I can do...but now it won’t even start installing...when the installer screen asks which drive I want to install it on, for which I would of course choose my Macintosh HD, it says in subscript underneath Macintosh HD:
“This disk is locked” and it wont let me select the “continue” button to begin the installation.
Please help, someone.

phew, just got everything back to "normal"
I turned off my mac for about 10 minutes and then started it up again. Also I think this time i inserted my snow leopard disc at just the right time, not too early not too late.
Whatever it was, when i went to "Startup Disk" the snow leopard disc showed up!
So then I went to disk utility after booting the snow leopard installer for the first time. It said it repaired one thing but then stopped and said it couldnt repair it and told me to back up and reformat.
Then I just ran a simple verify again and it said the HD was "OK" - it gave me a clean bill of health?!?!
So then I went to startup disk again, and was finally able to get out of limbo and back to good old snow leopard.
Now I'll install Lion, but taking all cautions beforehand...maybe i'll wait a few days first though.

How to revert back to Snow Leopard from Lion?

Foolishly I just jumped straight in, downloaded Lion and installed it, and well... I really don't like it. It's not a patch on SL.
So I'm trying to work out the best way of reverting back to Snow Leopard.
I have:
My Snow Leopard install disc.
A SuperDuper, bootable backup from 48 hours pre-upgrade.
A Time Machine backup from 48 hours pre-upgrade.
I'm fairly sure that just putting the SL install disc in, isn't going to work.
I think I have a couple of options.
1. Erase the hard drive completely, and then do a fresh SL install, then restore the last TM backup.
2. Boot from the SuperDuper backup, then restore the last TM backup.
I'd prefer option 1, as this gives me a clean install (I hope).
Before I go ahead, can anyone:
a) See any problems with carrying this out, or
b) Suggest a better, safer method?
I'm a bit concerned that SL was an upgrade to an existing OS, rather than a complete OS in itself, so I'm very wary of what might happen if I wipe the drive then put the disc in, hoping it'll give me a nice new version of SL. Might need to go and do a bit more reading up.

For ref.
Dragged and dropped copies of important files (Docs, Pictures, Downloads, Movies etc) to a spare drive.
Printed off any docs that I absolutely could not afford to lose.
Shut down Mac.
Attached USB drive with SuperDuper backup, and powered up drive.
Powered up Mac, and immediately pressed the option key.
From the window that popped up, chose my USB drive as the boot disk and pressed return.
Mac powered up running Snow Leopard from USB drive.
Started Disk Utility, and erased the disk labelled 250.06 GB Fujitsu.... etc In the 'name' field, entered 'Macintosh HD'
Started up SuperDuper! and copied my backup over Macintosh HD.
Incidentally, the first step it took was to erase Macintosh HD anyway, so I could probably have skipped the first erase.
Let SuperDuper! do it's thing for 90 mins.
Once it had completed, closed the machine down (it wouldn't let me eject the USB drive, as presumably it was still using that as the boot disc).
Detached and powered off USB drive.
Pressed Mac power button and crossed fingers...
And goodbye annoying Lion, hello again, good old Snow Leopard!
Didn't even need to restore the last Time Machine backup.
I may take another look at Lion again, further down the road, when hopefully Apple will have realised that OS X and iOS are two completely different animals, and that we don't all want our Macs behaving like our iPads.
For now though, I'm sticking with SL.

I have done a ton of work on my system in the last week and don't want to lose any of it - and no I didn't use time machine. HOw much am I going to lose when I uninstall Lion and then reinstall Leopard?

First, do a full backup of your current system.
Reformat your hard drive's main partition that you want to revert to Snow Leopard from Lion. This will delete EVERYTHING on the partition, which is why you need to do the backup first.
Reinstall Snow Leopard from the installer media you own.
Download then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Combo Updater.
Run Software Update repeatedly until there are no updates left to install.
Reinstall all your third-party applications.
Connect the backup you made of the Lion system and copy over your data. You should only have to copy over the files you know about within your own user account folder.
If you do this right, you'll have everything back in Snow Leopard with no loss. If you do it wrong, well, that's another reason we made a backup all the way back in the beginning of this process - you can always start over.

Did you try removing the printer from the queue and then reinstalling it?
I attempted to print this morning for the first time after upgrading to Lion and discovered that while everything appeared normal on my Epson printer, it would never print.
I opened System Preference > Print & Scan and deleted the printer.
I then added the printer back and it now working again. Worth a shoot first I should think.
Much easier the a downgrade.

I recently downloaded Mac OS X Lion, but I can't stand it. I've heard you can't get a refund from the app store but I'm not sure how that works and I'd realy like my money back. Also, if I do downgrade, I'm not sure how to back up my files. I have music, documents, and pictures I don't want to lose. I don't have time machine. I have a usb but I'm not sure if it is capable of holding music from itunes? Other than that I'm not sure how else to back up things. I realize I have a lot of questions and I'm not exactly well informed with this stuff so any help would be greatly appreciated (:
