Can I roll an app's update back to previous version?

I let an app update from the App store (Exacqvision client) and it stopped working - crashes now.  Is there any way to get back to the previous version which worked fine?

Just so that you are clear, this is the ASC forum for the Mac App Store, apps for Mac computers, not the iTunes App Store, apps for iOS devices, both Carolyn's and my comments are assuming that you are posting about a Mac app.
Regarding the app for iOS, did you update the app directly on the iPad? Or did you update the app directly in iTunes and sync the updated app to the iPad? If you updated the app only on the iPad and not yet in iTunes, then delete the app from the iPad and sync to iTunes again without updating the app and you should have the prior version.
However, if you have updated the app in both iTunes and on the iPad, but 1.) have a Mac computer, and 2.) you have a Time Machine backup you can still possibly roll back to the prior version. On a Mac the iOS apps are located at ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications/. You would need to enter the Time Machine and browse to that location, then go back in time to a version of the app prior to the update and restore the app.
BTW, it would help folks if you filled in your profile so they know what model computer that you have, what OS version, etc.

    I thougth people might find it useful to know after not liking the recent update 0.9.15.27 I tried rolling back to previous versions of Spotify using instructions from another community post.  These are the results I had roughly
    Very early versions 0.49.285 to 0.5.2.44 automatically updated to the most recent version of Spotify which as of today Iis 0.9.15.27
    06.2.240-..0.6.5 installed fine but all my friends were gone I seemed to be able to add them if they subscribed to my playlists but updating their activity was dubious at best
    0.8.0.952-0.8.3.22 all rolled me up to 0.8.3.22  Still no friends list
    From version 0.8.8.50 my friends returned as did Starred tracks which I like
    I think from  0.9.10.22 Spotify was able to update itself again to the latest version 
    This took a long time so I hope someone finds this useful lol.  Im running windows 7 for information and this is the instructional I followed.

    UPDATE: Im not sure at which release this fix does not start working but I had went with 0.9.11.27 and even though when I checked the information it said I still had that version my activity feed changed to the new round pics of my friends.  I have went back to 0.8.8.50 as that is the first release where my full friends list returned and have quit and restarted and still remains on this version so my further advice is you may have to try this a couple of times and if it auto updates try rolling back to an older release until you find a compromise of one you like that also WONT auto update as at some stage Spotify must have altered the way the programs update.  
    It would also be useful if you could restart your machine and check that your version does not auto update then post which one you are on so we can figure out where the fix works until and once we know more I will update this first post from feedback

    Just an update from my end... Initially I downloaded 0.9.11.27 and got the old activity feed! I vowed I would never restart Spotify (I hate the new feed that much as it simply changes the experience completely for me). This morning Spotify would not play anything so I had to restart and, alas, the new dreaded feed!!! BUT, then I got the banner asking me to restart to download the latest version of spotify; I did as I already had the new feed again. Yet, after the update (It updated to 0.9.15.27)I now have the old wonderful activity feed again!!! Not sure how to explain that...

    Unfortuantely, you can see what's in a backup without restoring it to your device.  You also can't selectively restore just certain apps.  Also, your apps aren't really stored in your backup, only your app data is.  When you restore the backup, the app data is restored, then the apps are redownloaded from the App store, along with your other purchased media, assuming they are still available.
    What you could do is back up your iPad to your computer (connect it to your computer, open iTunes, then go to File>Devices>Back Up and File>Devices>Transfer Purchases), then erase it (Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings), restore the old backup (go through the setup screens and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup).  Then you could either live with the restored backup and all it contains, or erase it again and restore the iTunes backup you made earlier (connect it, open iTunes, go to File>Devices>Restore from Backup).

    The problem is I have no computer to use the Itunes and can't go to last purchase. Also, I have ipad 2 using the same adminstrator and have the same problem.

    The first time I attempted to install ML was on a late 2011 MBP.  It ran for three minutes then gave me the error message: Could not install OSX due to an unexpected error.  I was using the original ML install app, not a USB or other drive.  
    After a couple of restarts wiht the same result I saw a message to the effect that the install was trying to close open apps.  I closed apps  manually a few times to no avail.  I shut down instead of restarting then booted into Safe mode (hold down the shift key when starting) and that did it.  The install went smoothly after that. 
    I since installed ML in two iMacs using a cloned copy of the install app on a USB drive.  This time I shut down the computers and booted into Safe Mode first and there were no problems. 
    I don't know if this issue is the one causing you these problems but it is a simple enough solution to try.

    Sorry to hear this. What have you tried in the way of troubleshooting? Have you tried running from a new user account ?
    This really isn't the best place to reach out to Apple. It's a user-to-user forum. A very long shot, but you could contact an Apple retail store and possibly they'll be able to help…but that assumes you didn't update your project and events if you need to work on any of those shows.
    For some time, contributors here and other FCP forums have reminded people to follow Apple's best updating practices and archive the pre-update version of the app as well as their projects and events. Absent those archives, there is also the possibility of doing a restore from Time Machine (or some other BU utility), if used.

  • When I use FF 4 I have problem with my Intranet user interface, I lost the ability to acces my intranet database? So for now I go back to previous version. I hope that kind of problem can be fix soon.

    I usually use FF 3.6 version to download data from my company intranet. With old FF version I can access the intranet easily. But when I upgrade to the FF 4, I lost the ability to customize the variable data I want to collect. It kind of stuck. Usually when I right click I have option what to do. with the new version my option is none. nothing change. It's frustrating. So now, I go back to previous version. You said previous version is vulnerable to phishing or virus or something but still it user friendly for me to access my company data. Please fix that bug and I'll upgrade to the newest version.

    I want to add my progress about this problem. I find this problem in IE 9, but it has compatibility view, though not too perfect but quite helpful. Whereas FF 4, from article in support, said it doesn't have one. So, I beg you FF team to accommodate us who still deal with old web design so we still can use this FF 4. Please..please..please. I still believe Firefox is the best browser and I hope FF team also responsive about current problem. I think I don't have any option, but to downgrade FF to 3.6 until someone tell me how to deal with this kind of problem. Thanks.

    This version is horrible, and I want to downgrade back to previous version if I can't then I am going back to internet explorer, the search engine is an aberration...just trying to perform a search for hotmail sign in page and had to click on have a dozen responses before I find the one I want where before was right there at the top. If I cannot go back to a previous version, just tell me so I can start using internet explorer, it is horrible as well but at least search engine was not as frustrating to use!!!!

    To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
    You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
    To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

    Like I said in the title: I want to release a new version for my app in ENU only, however previous version supported multi-languages. Can I do this? If so, what happens to the non-ENU language copies of the app (previous version)? Are those app still available to users in non-ENU app store?

    Don't use WAV format as you will not retain metadate. You should use aiff if space is not a problem but Apple lossles format will be just as good with smaller file size.
    When you reimport your CDS, you will be asked if you wish to replace existing copies. Select yes, you data changes should be retained. Be aware that when you reimport, CD track names and album title must match your existing files, otherwise they will not replace existing versions.
