Can I rotate photos in iMovie 6 ?

I am making a slide show for my daughter. I need to rotate some of the photos. Can I do that in iMovie 6 ? That seems like a resonable request of such a nice program. It is easy to do in Vegas Studio, and even Premiere Elements. I looked everywhere and cannot find out how to do it. Thanks very much for you help. Roger

Hi Roger - The company GeeThree has an iMovie plugin as part of a package, that will do that rotation for you:
http://www.geethree.com/slick/index.html
But there are other ways.
They can be rotated and saved in iPhoto, and in Preview. If they still refuse to import correctly, what I do is to make a very minor adjustment of some aspect of the photo in Photoshop, save and re-import. The correct orientation always remains fixed after that.

  • Can't see photos in iMovie 11

I've been working on video/photo slideshow on my iMac (leopard, iMovie 11) for the last couple of weeks.  Minor problems but overall going smoothly.  Today I'm working on my brand new MacBook Air (lion, iMovie 11) practicing some iMovie techniques.  I've been dragging photos into iMovie from iPhoto.  After dragging I cannot see the photos in the viewer/full screen.  All is see is a black screen.   Please help.

I know how iMovie works. I've used it before without any issues. It seems like ever since I upgraded to snow leopard and iLife '11 iMovie never shows files imported. I don't know what the issue is and I can't find any solutions anywhere. Sometimes I will see the imported file in my Movies>iMovie Events>Event Folder but the file does not display at all in the iMovie app itself so I cannot edit.....
I'm thinking about either downgrading to Leopard or iLife '09 to see if either one fixes my problem.

  • How can I get photos from imovie into iphoto?

I downloaded the photos onto my desktop and made an imovie with the photos...but at some point I deleted the photos file AND I lost the original photo cd they were on.  The photos are in my imovie file, but I need to somehow get them to iphoto (or somewhere) to burn onto a cd.  This was I can print out just the photos.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

What version of iPhoto? Is OS X 10.2.x as you state correct for your OS?

  • Seriously! I can't rotate photos 90 degrees with a two finger gesture?

I received a mms from my momz and the picture is sideways. I went to rotate the photo with the two finger gesture just like on my mac in iphoto and it didn't work. Why would they leave this out? Seriously I can't do this on the Iphone 4S!? If you know of any way to do it on the phone it would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise I still have to tilt the phone a bit so it goes into landscape orientation then tilt my head to line up so I can get the same relative view as if it were right side up.

Different interface? Not completly. Touchpad...Touchscreen... What is the difference? Not really a complete difference. The touchpad is not on top of the screen and the same size (two differences there but the process is the same).  I should be able to use the same gesture whether on my macpro touchpad or the touchscreen of my iphone to do the same thing with photos. They are both touch based devices. Placing two fingers on the touchpad (macPro) or the touchsreen (Iphone 4S) and then rotating each finger in the same orbit should rotate the photo.  Works in Iphoto so the same should work for photos on the Iphone.

  • How can i add photos to iMovie trailer

How can you add still photos to trailer in IMovie on IPAD2?

Currently the only way is to make in iMovie movie, and add the photos you wanted to use.
Export this to the camera roll, and import that video into the trailer.
    Bit of a workaround sadly.

  • Can't add photos to iMovie

I have tried to click on one photo and drag to add or click on multiple photos to add.  Once, when I selected multiple photos, iMovie only took 1 of the photos.  Another attempt, it took 2 photos only of the batch.  With each time, however, iMovie tells me it is adding the number of photos I select but the photos do not appear in the project. Now it won't add any photos whatsoever. I bought my new MAC in 2012.  Do not know the version of the operating system. I do have iMovie version 9.09 but it was not in the drop down menu provided.

    Hi
There can be several reasons to why iMovie ill behaves.
    • Pref files got corrupted - Medicine: trash them
    • The movie project got corrupted files within it - throw them away and replace with fresh new ones
    • Free Space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk is to low (very common origin): I never go less than 25Gb - if You got less than 5Gb all strange things might happen
    • Photo file format - I only use - direct from iPhoto or .jpg - never ever .bmp or other alient formats - all converted to .jpg
    and much more
As more info You provide - as easier it will be for us to figure out what's the problem
    Yours Bengt W

  • How can I capture photos from iMovie 11?

I want to capture a photo from a video clip.  The instructions I've found online do not seem to work with iMovie 11.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (google MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
    Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
Here is a video I made that steps through this...
I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.

  • Can't crop photos in iMovie 10

Ever since I upgraded to iMovie 10 I cannot crop any photos. I want to adjust the Ken burns effect and also see the black borders of all of my photos in portrait. This happens for existing iMovie that I had been working on and also to a new one started in iMovie 10. What is the problem?

Never mind, I discovered that you now have to crop in the timeline.

  • Can I rotate photos in iDVD?

I know I could just delete the unrotated photos and reload them back in but I'm working with around a thousand photos, some of which are rotated. Is there any hope?

My digital camera is set to auto-rotate.
When I use other people's images that don't do that, I use Photoshop Elements to manually rotate and save. Then they come into iDVD fine. Not sure if there's a way to automate that process...

can't import photo in imovie...tool bar is greyed out

  • Rotating photos in Photo

I frequently take screen shots while in Google Maps for use in navigation.
The problem is the screenshots invariably mount the wrong way in Photo, I.e. In portrait mode instead of landscape. That's one bug.
Second, Some photos (those imported from my camera for example) can be rotated, but this feature is undocumented in the iPad guide. Just tap the photo to bring up the menu bar and sometime a left pointing arrow, similar to the export icon, will appear. Tap that to rotate ninety degrees.
Third, I can manually rotate photos in Photo using two fingers. But they invariably snap back to their original orientation. Bizarre behaviour.
Anyone observed this? Any help rotating photos in Photo?

I have this same issue with Photos. All of my photos that I have synced through iTunes were correct on the computer. After syncing them to the iPad all of the pictures that were portrait are not any more, hence many of them have to be rotated but there is no place to do that. And, yes I know there is an app for that. The problem with the apps is that when you download them and change a photo it saves a copy so you would have to go through each one and save a copy of it anyway, why can't iTunes just sync them correctly like they were on the computer? I have iOS 4.2.1, you said its possible to rotate them in Photos with this version, How? Thanks for the input.

  • How can I make a still photo from imovie

How can I make a still photo from imovie?

Let's assume you have iMovie 11 (Version 9). (If you have a different version, let me know. The instructions will be different.)
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead.

  • I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this?

I imported videos from photo into iMovie when I set up iMovie (obvious mistake) and now iMovie doesn't work properly, nor can I move specific videos into a folder where I want them. How do I fix this? I even tried deleting iMovie, bought a new copy and installed it, but the folder "iPhoto Videos" is still there and I can't get new clips loaded to iMovie, especially where I want them. Please help.

The iPhoto Videos do occasionally have problems. I've seen a lot of people write messages to this Discussion group describing similar problems. The only thing that seems to get around this problem is to pull the video clips out of iPhoto then import them directly into iMovie. Once the troubles with iPhoto Videos starts, I haven't yet seen anyone write back with something that they did to fix it.
The most difficult part of doing this is the movies in iPhoto might be a little difficult to track down. But you can create a smart alum that does that for you. Go to iPhoto > File Menu > New Smart Album:
Set the first pulldown menu to keyword, second to contains, then in the last box type Movie with a capital 'M'. Then click OK. This smart album more or less does as search of the whole iPhoto Library and only displays items that match your search tearm of "Movie" exactly. In that smart album then you can find the original Movies you want to move out of iPhoto and into iMovie, <CTRL> click on the Movie clip, then choose Reveal in Finder. That will jump you out of iPhoto temporarily and into the iPhoto Library folder. From there you can move that movie file to the desktop. Move all the clips you want, once they're all collected up go to iMovie and go to the File Menu > Import Files. Then point it to the desktop where you moved your video clips.
This will put all those videos into an Event folder in iMovie and bypass iPhoto Videos altogether.

  • How can I edit photos on iPad 1? Rotate photos, crop photos. Used to work before OS5 update.

How can I edit photos on iPad 1? I want to rotate photos, crop them, etc.  Is there a specific mode that I have to be in to edit? I believe it used to work before I "upgraded" to ios5. Would like any help here. Thanks

Editing photos in the Photos app is not supported on the first gen iPad - and didn't exist prior to iOS 5.
