Can I run 2 different size and ratio monitors from my mac mini

Hi
I have a samsung 50" TV currently hooked up to my mini via HDMI, I have another TV 32" which i'll plug in either via a splitter or more likely displayport to hdmi, but when I tested the 32" via HDMI there was no input signal.
I've checked and this can be fixed going in remotely and changing the ratio but surely this would affect both displays or can I change settings for each display output?
I do want a 3rd TV hooked up to, but how would I do this if that display is again different? - not bought this one yet

If these are all TVs then presumably they are all the same aspect ratio, namely 16:9 widescreen. You should be able to run both, or all three using a splitter, as long as the lowest common resolution is selected. It sounds like perhaps the 32" TV only supports 720p. But so should the other TVs. So as long as you set things to what is supported by the least of the TVs, they should all work.

The "RC" version of Parallels is a Release Candidate that while not a release version it is very near.
As the name implies it is a candidate for release to the public. Many larger developers have mutliple versions of their products and will have often 1 through to about 5 release candidates from which they will select one to release as the final product.
    You can find it here…

  • Can I run iMovie 09 and 11 on the same Mac?

I recently upgraded to a Mac Mini with iMovie 11 - from a MBP with iMovie 09, but it seems I can't edit any of the projects from 09 in 11. Is this correct? I can't even open them.
The MBP can't cope with the movies I'm working on - which was one reason I upgraded, it is so slow and every time i try to move around in a project the spinning ball comes up & it takes forever to do anything.
I've tried several things suggested on this forum to speed it up but nothing's working, so wondered if I take the 09 application from the MBP and put it on the Mac Mini running 10.8.4, will it work, will it clash with iMovie 11, will I be able to open my old projects in it? Are there other files that I have to transfer over apart from the actual application?
    Thanks!

  • Can't find Laserwriter 4/600 on network from Intel Mac mini

Problem: Cannot find/print to networked LaserWriter using Airport network.
Kit: Mac mini 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB running Mac OS 10.4.5; Silver Apple Airport Base Station unExtreme; Netgear 814 combined switch/router/DSL modem; Asanté LocalTalk-to-Ethernet Adaptor; Apple LaserWriter 4/600PS.
Method: Airport bridges from wireless (Mac mini) side of network to wired (LaserWriter) side via hub/router.
This setup worked perfectly for many years but did not survive the encounter with Intel Mac mini.
Resolution attempted: Carried out detailed instructions involving switching devices off and on in strict order, using Printer Setup Utility etc.
These instructions are posted on Asanté website:
    http://www.asante.com/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3164
Getting this to work requires that the Ethernet connection be switched from AirPort to Built-in Ethernet and that the computer be physically connected to the hub by an ethernet cable. The unwanted effect of this is that it denies wireless access to network/internet services formerly enjoyed by Mac & PC computers.
Running the identical Asanté routine with AirPort rather than Built-in Ethernet as the connection method results in the loss of the LaserWriter to the network.
    Any ideas?

You can rest assured that printing to a AppleTalk
printer through wireless network is way down on the
list of things that is ever going to be tested in the
    labs.
Point taken. I'm just curious about what might be going on.
Since I can't test here - the only thing I can do is
think of possible differences between your two
    networks (wired and wireless)
I'm not an expert but as I understand it the Intel Mac mini should "see" the network as a single contiguous entity. In other words the AirPort Base Station that bridges between the wireless and the wired parts of the network should be entirely transparent, so I think the answer to your next question is yes.
Is your network flat (sameIP address range and routes
wireless as wired)? I could see issues if there were
a firewall or you had separate networks set up (you
can have different networks that talk to each other
through gateways and routing - but things like
Bonjour/Rendezvous and if my rusty memory is to be
trusted - Appletalk too - depends on things being in
the same "network" for broadcast packets to get to
    everyone.)
Again, I don't know if it proves anything but when I had another computer on network here, the IP address assigned to it by the router was within the specified range. This machine is getting on for three whole years old, has begun to self-destruct and so it's gone for repair under the last gasp of its AppleCare warranty extension.
The Intel Mac mini can also "see"/print to a Bonjour wireless printer. This may also answer your question about the possibility there being two networks here rather than one. On the other hand, I guess that the ability to print to the Bonjour device does not involve any bridging between the wireless and wired parts of the network, so this may not be relevant.
If the concept of different networks does not make
sense - open up the Network Utility application and
post the results of your "Display routing table
    information" from the netstat section...
Finally, here's what Network Utility, Netstat comes up with:

  • Can I run Photoshop CS4 and CS1 on the same Mac?

I've been building pages for a website on my old Mac with Photoshop CS1 then slicing and optimising them in ImageReady before uploading to the site I'm building in Dreamweaver where I put in the body text.
Recently I upgraded to a newer Mac running Snow Leopard and CS4 where I discovered that ImageReady is now considered a thing of the past. I read that Fireworks and Dreamweaver are now the most sophisticated way to go but after a month perservering with fireworks I'm finding it a very clunky, complicated way to operate. I don't like using it and I hate the prospect of starting over to re-build my existing site.
So... will my CS1 version of Photoshop and Imageready run successfully on Snow Leopard and, if so, can I have two versions of one program loaded on my Mac at once? The aim is to be able to use CS1 for Imageready and revert to CS4 for my usual work.

  • Can I run OS X 10.6 on the latest Mac Mini?

I am in the middle of a Digidesign Protools ver. 8.05 audio project running on a  Mac Mini (2007 vintage) and it has become less than reliable (Combo drive has died, sometimes no 'chimes' and just grey screen... doesn't boot).
I am looking to replace it with another Mac Mini (to fit in present work space) and have been trying to find a mid-2010 version (last Mini with Super Drive).
Failing that... I need a Mini that runs OSX 10.6x so that my version of Protools will run.
My question is:  The latest Mini's come with OSX 10.7 (Lion)... will they run OSX 10.68???
    Thanks for any assistance.

Can Imac be used as a monitor for a Macbook air?

Yes, but on the imac you have to push command + F2 to enter it into the Target Display Mode.
You only can connect an iMac via thunderbolt to MacBook Air only possible when both have a thnderbolt ports
or iMac via MiniDisplayPort to MacBook Air only possible when both have MiniDisplay ports.

  • Can I copy mail prefs and mail folder from one mac to another?

    Hi everyone,
My mac book pro's mail is corrupted... I've tried with a new .plist file and other than losing my settings it fixes the problem ! Instead of recreating my settings could I just replace the .plist file and the mac folder in my library from the imac (essentially the same on both computers) and be good to go without the setup hassle?
Or is this a very very very bad idea?
    Thanks for the info,
    Philly

Yes, that should work just fine, if the same version of Mail.
For safety drag, your old mail folder and plist to the desktop, until you're sure all is well.

  • How can I transfer Elements 10 from my Mac Mini to my new iMac?

    Hi all!
I recently purchased Elements 10 and installed it on my Mac Mini only because my old iMac was dying.  I now have a new iMac and I would like to have Elements 10 on the iMac and remove it from my Mac Mini.  I want to do this because the Mac Mini is used as a music server.  The iMac desktop is my main computer and is a much better place to have Elements 10.
Can I do this?  What do I need to do?
    Thanks in advance!
    Dave

On the mini, go to Editor>Help Deactivate. Then install PSE on the imac. You can actually have it on two computers, but if you don't want it on the mini anymore you might as well free up that activation for future use.
Don't try to copy PSE to the new computer. It installs stuff in many places, not just the applications folder, unless you have the app store version, in which case you would just go to app store>purchases on the imac to add it there. The app store version can be installed on all the macs that use the same app store/itunes ID, no matter how many that may be,

  • Can i run two monitors on a mac mini?

I'm wondering if I can run a 5 year old cinema display and a cheap flat screen monitor on a mac mini. Someone at Apple said yes but someone at a Mac store said no.

OK, I am a musician also and I just purchased a Mac Mini (late 2010 version).  So I can tell you with out a doubt that it has support for 2 monitors of any kind.  If your cinema display has the Apple ADC connector it is going to be tough. Some people use the displayport to dvi adaptor connected to a DVI to ADC adaptor and plug and claim to have it working. I have NO IDEA how it would.
The MINI comes with this adaptor:

  • Save as png in different size and file name suffix.

Maybe someone can help me on this Photoshop script. I am working on a psd file with few layers in Photoshop CS6. I would like to save it to the png format.
    Below is my workflow.
    1) Drag and drop 01.psd into Photoshop from A folder.
    2) Save 01.psd to 01.png into the A folder with different sizes and suffixes as shown below:
        - name: 01-xhires.png, size: 180x180
        - name: 01-hires.png, size: 90x90
        - name: 01.png, size: 45x45
    3) With png options: (I have no idea of some options below, but at least you know what I am lookng for. )
        - Compression: Smallest/Slow
        - Interlace: None
        - Transparency: True
        - Blur: 0:0
        - includeProfile = false
        - optimized = true
        - quality = 100
        - PNG8 = false
    4) Use lower case extension.
    5) Other options should be in default setting.
The script should be able to:
    1) Overwrite the png files whenever the psd file has been updated and saved multiple times without prompting.
    2) Save the png files into the same folder as the source file without creating any subfolder.
    3) Not close the psd file, but still keeping it opens in the Photoshop without any changes.
Please help, thank you very much.

Goto Russell Browns web site download the Image Processor Pro script install it and use it to do what you want. However  the script will not overwrite files.   Overwriting file in an automated process is dangerous you could easily wipe out all you image if you make a mistake.  If you want to replace files create the new files in a new temp location then when you see the files are what you want. Move(cut) the files to the location you want replacing any files with the same name.
    Menu File>Automate>Image Processor Pro...
source folder you psd files or open document which should stay open.  If you want the script to overwrite the output files you need to edit the script and remove the code that generate new name when output files exists. You may also need to change some save options.  I  would think you would want the profile you convert the image into stored in the png file,  Most of the otions you want can be set like same location no subfolders, 16bit  not interlace etc.

Not sure if that same Application is designed for Mac Os x, Search for Applications on App Store instead of iTunes on your Macbook Pro, as Applications available on iTunes Store on a Macbook is designed to work only on iOS Device like iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch and whatever is available on App Store on Mac is designed for Mac Os x.

  • Can we change font size and font type in reports

    Hi All Technical/Functional Masters,
We are developing some transactional reports in ISU. this report has 20 columns to be printed. On screen, display is not a problem but client has a requirement to download this report in PDF format and wants to print on A4-paper in Landscape. Although we have managed to accommodate all the columns on A4 paper but have to compromise with font size that are very small and not visible. If we download the report in excel format we are able to maintain the font size 8 and accommodate all columns after little format but same in PDF is a problem.
Can anyone tell whether we can increase the font size and change font type(from SAP standard to 'Arial') before sending the output in PDF ? Is there any property or utility that can be changed or used for this purpose.
