Can I run a Soundblaster under Real-DOS (MS-DOS 6.

I have a problem:?I want to run a soundblaster li've from the year 999 under a real MS-DOS PC-System. But?I can't find any driver at the homepage of Creative. It is possible, that this soundcard doesn?t run under DOS? When no, where can I get the drivers for? Many thanks!?NiciPapa

Hello. Before you go to the trouble of trying to operate a sound card under MS-DOS, have you considered DOSbox which runs in Windows and provides support sound support for older games??Here is a link if that will work for you. I would encourage you to donate to them if you decide to use the software. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/news.php?show_news=?If you must operate under DOS, you will have to try a web search on Google or another search engine to find someone that might have them posted. drbug

  • Can't run programs installed under Administrator

Our user DLU's run at the User level, so we install any extra software that isn't on our image using the local Administrator account. Sometimes users are prompted to enter the Administrator password just to run such software, but it seems to depend on the program.
Virtual Apps are not always possible so I'm trying to understand the mechanics of why Users can run something installed under Administrator.

If you want them to be able to install software, make them part of the
    administrators or power users group.
Of course, what's gonna happen to them WHEN they install improper software
(not IF, it is a WHEN).
What software are you trying to install?
You should probably look up the app @ the website www.appdeploy.com
While not specific to ZCM, it has an incredible wealth of info on specific
applications and how to deploy/package them

Most users are trying to install simple .exe files for browser addons
and they are nearly attacking me for the rights to do this. There has
got to be an easier way than trying to make a bundle each time some
    small install issue comes up.
I just want my users to be able to install whatever they want. If they
blow up their machine we can reimage it.

  • Can't run java or javac from dos prompt

I just installed j2sdk1.4.1 on win98SE. I have a problem where I can't seem to be able to compile or run an application from the dos prompt. I can do both in Visualage for Java or in JGrasp but not at the DOS Prompt. I have set the PATH statement to PATH=c:\j2dsk1.4.1\bin and the classpath=c:\j2sdk1.4.1\lib. The following is a typical error message:
    javac RunApplet.java
    RunApplet.java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class MyApplet
    location: class RunApplet
    MyApplet myApplet = new MyApplet():
    RunApplet..java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class MyApplet
    location: class RunApplet
    MyApplet myApplet = new MyApplet()
    2 errors
    java RunApplet.class
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: RunApplet/class
It seems like the system can't locate the class files?
Also is there away to use more than the standard 8.3 charecter set in the DOS prompt window?
    TIA

    javac RunApplet.java
    RunApplet.java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class MyApplet
    location: class RunApplet
    MyApplet myApplet = new MyApplet():
    RunApplet..java:8: cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class MyApplet
    location: class RunApplet
    MyApplet myApplet = new MyApplet()
2 errorsMost likely a Classpath problem. I suggest changing your classpath to:
    classpath=.;c:\j2sdk1.4.1\lib
    java RunApplet.class
    Exception in thread "main"
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: RunApplet/class2 problems. As ChuckBing says, the command needs to be "java RunApplet" with no .class. The argument to the java command is the class name, not a file name. The second problem - if you do not have a successful compilation, there won't be any .class file to run.

  • How can I run Windows XP under 10.10.2?

While I seldom use XP, there are times I need a Windows OS.  I run OX 10.10.2 on my late 2012 iMac, and until I updated to Yosemite, I was running under Parallels.  I deleted Parallels as I wished to upgrade it, and have lost my Windows OS ability.  Any help out there?

When you deleted Parallels, did you also delete the XP virtual machine you'd run using Parallels? If not, Kurt Lang's advice to reinstall Parallels will solve your problem. Or, you can install VMware Fusion, which can also use your VM.

  • Can't run PowerPC apps under Snow Leopard. Why?

I just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my main hard drive. I also installed Snow Leopard on an external drive to run some older PowerPC apps I have that Lion and Mountain Lion don't support. Snow Leopard is supposed to run PowerPC applications just fine. So I installed those apps on the same drive as SL, but when I start up from that drive, the apps won't open? The system starts up just fine from the external drive, but when I try to open the apps, they just bounce in the dock at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds (like they're starting up). Then they go away and don't start up. No error warnings, no crashes. Nothing. I've restarted after the installs, checked to make sure folders weren't locked, etc. I can think of no reason why the apps won't run under SL on an external drive. Anyone have a guess?

Obviously you are unaware of the advice I give on this forum: You're preaching to the choir!
Try this patch for Freehand MX use in Snow Leopard:

Let me know how this works out for you.
Here is how I run Freehand MX on my Lion Macs:

  • Can I run windows vista under lion boot camp?

I have an older install disk for windows vista that I need to install on my mac mini running lion.  I tried to do it under the bootcamp install but it froze most of the way through it.  Will this work? or does it have to be W7 only?  Lastly, is there a work around without spending money?

  • How can I run C programs under a Java GUI?

    Hi
I'm looking for some info on how to run a command line program written in another language behind a Java GUI, any advice greatly appreciated, particularly in how to transfer data between the two.

    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(...)
Transfering info is more complicated. Maybe write and read status from disk?

Use attached archive, extract all files to bootable USB stick,
then boot from it to pure DOS, when you see A:\ or C:\, type:
    flash [ENTER]
    Thank you its worked.

  • How to run I.E. under admin acct in WS2012 R2?

    Hello Community
        On WS2012 R2 I have I.E.11
The problem is that when I try to run it, it says
I can't run I.E. under the admin account.  So I run it
    as a different user.
        Why can't I run I.E.11 in WS2012 R2 under my admin
    account in WS2012 R2?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hi Shabeaut,
Did you mean the Built-in Administrator account?
Built-in Administrator account does not have a split token and Metro apps cannot run under full administrator token. Thus Metro apps cannot be activated with the Built-in Administrator account. Please refer to following similar thread and check if
    help you.
    internet
explorer can't be opened using built-in admistrator account. sign in with different account
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • Can't run JDK 1.5.0 plug-in on Mozilla 1.7.3 (Windows)

    Hi!
I've just downloaded and installed NetBeans IDE + JDK 5.0 for Windows and can't run any java under Mozilla (v1.7.3).
    What should I do?
Doesn't this JDK come with the Mozilla plug-in? If so, how do I make it work?
Should I download and install JRE 1.5.0 also?
    Thanks!
    Gustavo F. Caetano

On windows, at the end of the installation procedure, you should get a dialog asking you if you want to associate the Java plugin with certain browsers. If you missed this the first time around, you might want to uninstall and reinstall Java. I did this yesterday on Windows XP professional, and can run 1.5.0 -compiled applets under Mozilla 1.7.2.

  • Hi, I activated my CS6 in 2012 under my student licence and still using it. I've heard that you can't run CS6 on multiple computers. How do I transfer it from one computer to another as I am switching computers?

    Hi,
first, I'm not Adobe's "slave" as you might to accuse me. Most of the posters here are users like me.
I only can repeat that what I found in Adobe's help sites, as I wrote above. You are free to figure out the "real" truth and - the best would be - you may contact Adobe directly, here are - I'm sure you know them -  the links I would use: http://helpx.adobe.com/support.html  and http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html.

  • Requirement is to run CMD.EXE under the Local System Account. So that we can map a network drive to be used by a windows service, which will be created by command: - net use z: \\servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes

    Environment:
    OS:  Windows 7 32/64 bit, Windows 2008 Server 64
    bit/ Windows 2012 Server 64 bit
    Priority:
    - Critical
    Requirement: - Since
the Windows Service is running under the Local System Account, we would like to emulate this same behaviour.
Basically, we would like to run CMD.EXE under the Local System Account. So that we can map a network drive to be used by a service using following
    command
    net use z: \\servername\sharedfolder /persistent:yes.
    Already Attempt:
We tried to launch the CMD.exe using the DOS Task Scheduler AT command.  Here’s a sample command:
    AT 10:36 /interactive cmd.exe
But I received a warning that “due
to security enhancements, this task will run at the time excepted but not interactively.”
It turns out that this approach will work for XP, 2000 and Server 2003 but due to session isolation
Interactive services no longer work on Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and above.
      2.  We
tried to create a secondary Windows Service via the Service Control (sc.exe) which merely launches CMD.exe.
    <Drive>:\sc create RunCMDAsLSA binpath= "cmd" type=own type=interact <Drive>:\sc
    start RunCMDAsLSA
In this case the service fails to start and results it the following error message:
FAILED 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
      3. One
suggestion, we found to launch CMD.exe via a Scheduled Task, but
it is not giving any option to launch CMD.exe in interactive mode; so that I can map network drive using net command.
      4. I read an article, which
demonstrates the use of PSTools from SysInternals. I launched the command line and executed following command
    psexec -i -s cmd.exe
PSTools worked fine, but It seems that in scope of Sysinternals Software License
Terms. You may not "use the software for commercial software hosting services."
Application will deploy on client, which will be like commercial,
so we are not able to use PSTools.
Kindly assist us for achieving the requirement. We have tried all the ways, but nothing is working for us. Kindly suggest.
    I will be really thankful.

    Hi Sir,
Nothing worked from above for us. You can see our remarks on posted query.
That’s why, we posted on forum.
And there will not be any vulnerability, because, if we will use "net
    use ..."
    in network domain; definitely,
we will provide username and password of mapped drive system.
And, that system, itself is given by client; so that, there must not be any vulnerability; they are ready to provide user name and password.
We need a way; by which we can complete the requirement. Kindly assist.
    Regards,
    S. P. Singh

You run Windows in Parallels or Fusion. Then in Windows you install the program.

  • I am unable to view google ads running alongside and under videos on YouTube. This is only a problem when I use Firefox. If I use another browser, I can see the ads. I do not have adlock as it does not appear in my plug-ins/add ons. Please help..

I have been using Firefox for about two years. For about a month now I have been unable to view any Google advertisements that run on YouTube pages alongside and under videos. This is important for my business. I would like to stay with Firefox, but this is only a problem when I use Firefox and is not a problem with Internet Explorer or Google Chrome as I checked. I tried uninstalling Firefox and all plugs ins and add ons and then reinstalling it. This did not work. Firefox seems to be blocking the Google codes that enable the ads to run on the pages. I look forward to your help. Thank you.

CS2 is very old and reached its "end of life" a while back.  So probably won't run on modern operating systems.  If you can still run it, you'll need to uninstall what you have and re-install with the download link below to activate it.
