Can i run autocad 3d, 3ds max and autodesk inventor on imac?

Hello you all!
I'm ready to buy an i-Mac for my work, but first I need to be 100% sure that it runs AutoCAD 3d. I would really need Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Inventor as well, but I can live without.
Please let me know if anyone knows, and aslo (as I never had anything to do with mac computers) I'd like to ask if I'll be able to keep updating these softwares whenever needed.
Last, does anyone know specifically what specs should I focus on among operating systems or other things when deciding which i-Mac to buy?

Very simple to find out, look at the system requirements for the apps and then compare to the iMac you are interested in. As far as updating the apps that isn't a question to ask here, you need to contact the developers or even better just visit their website periodically to see if updates for their products are released. If the app's are available from Apple's App Store then updates would be released from teh App Store. If you are not familiar with the App Store please click:

BTW if you don't feel comfortable with this answer then i'd recommend contacting Autodesk and asking what hardware specifications they recommend for an iMac and also visiting your local Apple Store.

Can't run the webcam with MAX and LV12

Hi,
I would like to configure and run a webcam via Measurement & Automation Explorer and Labview 2012.
I am working in windows 7 Ultimate (64bits).
Labview: 2012 (32bits) V 12.0f3
MAX: V5.3.3f2
Vision Acquisition Software: 2011
I installed Labview 2012 without issue. Then i installed Vision Acquisition Sofware 2011 to have the library neccesary for the webcam. But, before the end of the installation. I got this error screen ( see bellow Windows_Firewall_Might_Be_Enabled.jpeg): WARNING: Windows Firewall Might Be Enabled. So, i tried to turn OFF, turn ON my Windows Firewall. I have still had the same error screen even if I tried to reinstall Vision.
Any ideas about this issue?
Then I ran Measurement & Automation Explorer, go to Devices and Interfaces and NI-IMAQdx Devices. I can see my webcam ( Logitech HD Webcam C270). Double click on it. And i have the first error screen :cwimaq Errors loading control. The default settings for the control will be used. Then this error message: cwimaq Error creating default control. And i have a Unexpected Error (see picture bellow). I tried couple times to restart the computer. But It is still the same issue. So, I really don't know why it is doing that. Any ideas?
And when I run Labview and try to go in propreties of Vision Acquisition Express: Labview displayed : Unable to view properties.So I can't use my webcam with Labview for the moment. Furthermore, I downloaded ni_imaq_usb_installer_86 to get the good library for the usb.

So, I am thinking this is probably my issue. Because I installed Labview 2012 but my VDM is 2011.
Anybody has already installed VDM 2011 on Labview 2012, and it is or not working?

3DS Max and After Effects.

Hello, I just figured this would be one of the best places to stop by to look for an answer. Recently I've made an avi in 3DS max and tried importing it into AE. Here's the problem: Prior to importing it, the video looks amazing. It's crisp and unpixelated and just looks plain good. After importing it however... well it looks like crap to be honest. It's utterly pixelated and it just destroys the video quality. The aspect ratio is the same and the size of the composition is the same... I just can't figure out what the problem is at all.

Need a little more detail. What codec? What size? What PAR? If your footage is interpreted as non square pixels and you have Toggle Pixel Aspect Ratio checked in the Composition window you'll see interpolated pixels there. If your comp window isn't set to 100% magnification you're not seeing every pixel. If the Composition window is set to fit and the magnification is something like 63% then your preview is going to look bad. You may improve the look by going through the Previews section of preferences and setting the Zoom Quality to More Accurate.

I have an Intel iMac running OSX 10.6.8. I would like to use Final Cut Pro 10.1. I know I need OSX 10.9 for this. Can I run both 10.6.8 and 10.9 on the iMac ? I do not want to convert completely to 10.9 because of my existing software. Thanks for any help

It would depend on how old your IMac is, how mush memory you have, it it can be upgraded by OWC, etc. I have a 2006 Macbook Pro and would NOT put Mavericks on it or espeacially FCP 10.1.1 on it because the most memory it can have is 4 GB. You need at least 8 GB to work with Final Cut Pro 10.1.1. IMHO.
I would try to find a copy of Final Cut Express perhaps.

iPhone - should be all right. Mac with 10.6.8 - no - 10.7.2 is required for iCloud. If you migrate from MobileMe but don't have 10.7.2 you will lose access to email, and calendar, contacts and bookmarks syncing: Keychain and other data syncing will stop. You will be able to access email, calendar and contacts on the iCloud website at http://icloud.com provided you have been able to complete the migration successfully. You will no longer be able to access these facilities on MobileMe after you have migrated, though the iDisk, Gallery and website hosting will continue until next June.
You can access your email by entering the server settings manually into the Mail application or other email client. Some people have been able to set up calendar syncing by using the method detailed here - this is an unsupported hack and may not be reliable, and may stop working at some future point.

When I go to connect my MBP, it says I have the wrong user name and/or password; however the names and password are the same on both computers.
The MBP connects smoothly to the internet, just not the TC.

There is no login name required to get internet unless you are running a vpn or pppoe client.
The wireless uses a security key.. but that is fixed in the wireless setup.. so no user login should be required at any time.
It sounds to me like you have the wrong setup.
Please do a screen shot and post it of the imac setup that works.. show us the airport network with its ip address and where you are putting in the login.
Please also do a snapshot of the TC and how it is setup.
What broadband do you have?
Is the TC a router or bridged?

The only negative to not having the original drive will be the work needed to reinstall all the apps and reconfigure to your liking. You will also have to decide whether to stay on Lion (which you should update to 10.7.4, BTW) or bite the bullet and take a leap of faith on Mountain Lion.
In either case, to simplify matters you would do well to concoct a Lion or ML bootable installer on a USB stick. In either case, you need to get the corresponding installer downloaded onto the hard drive and, instead of running it to execute the install, extract the coveted InstallESD.dmg image from which you construct the bootable installer. I know this will sound a bit odd but their is a business case for asking this. Can you run APEX via the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway and the Oracle HTTP Server at the same time? Would their be any security/stability/etc issues I'd need to worry about? I know that I'll need to run them on different ports.

I think I've done this in the past. Theres no technical reason why you can't do this as far as I know.
I can't remember if I used different ports or same port.

So I just bought an iMac, 21.5 inch with 3.6 intel core i5, 8 GB ram and the ATI Radeon HD 5670. I have a few questions, some for curiosity's sake and some for how to move forward.
Essentially all the questions revolve around the need to use autocad and 3dsmax on my computer, and as of right now, in windows form. I understand that there is parallels, fusion, and boot camp, but I have heard conflicting information from the sales rep at the store and thought to ask before going forward.
Does windows in Bootcamp give me access to standard file types saved from Mac OS, ie. can I listen to my mp3s while in windows? Can i pull up a jpg or a pdf if the file was saved from mac?
Can the new Fusion or Parallels handle heavy programs like Max or Autocad or Photoshop?
In fusion, if I set the amount of cores and ram for windows to use, does that mean that Mac OS cannot use that, and if so, even when Fusion is shut down and windows turned off?

Yes to both. The Apple BootCamp Windows drivers allow read-access to the OSX partition from BootCamp Windows. For write access a third-party tool named MacDrive is needed.

I don't have/use neither Mac nor Autocad, so I really can't say.

As long as Fusion is running assigned cores and RAM cannot be used by OSX. When you shutdown Fusion the used cores and RAM are avaiable for OSX.

At best use BootCamp which allows Windows to use all avaiable hardware resources.
With Fusion you have to find the balance between your Windows useage and your OSX useage.

To my knowledge the Fusion package includes an uninstaller app to remove Fusion completely.
Before uninstalling Fusion you should use Fusion to delete/remove your Windows Virtual Machines.
Such Virtual Machines usually consists or merely two files which reside on your OSX partition and, in case of need, can even be deleted using the OSX Finder.

Like said, I don't use Max or AutoCad, but the Mac you have should be really good for both.
Although, there always will be a computer faster than the one you currently have.

I have a Power Mac G5 - How can I run Matrox MX02 mini max

I have a Power Mac G5 Running Mac OSX 10.5.8 I recently got the MX02 Mini Max by Matrox to run my Final Cut Studio application version 6.6 and Im having problems with the pci board that comes with the matrox unit ( it does not fit in the mother board) how would i be able to use this with out connecting the pci board into my mother board on my Mac.?

IF (big if) the card is PPC Mac compatible, only Late 2005 G5 machines have PCIe. All other G5s are PCI.

Running Firefox 4.0 on Mac OSX 10.6.6, using ATT mail, when I create a new email I get a browser message saying, "This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32-bit mode," and I have to restart Firefox in 32-bit mode. Is there any way around this?

I am assuming the plugin that the Firefox message is referring to is for attaching a file to the email. I say this because at the bottom of a new email it has a link that says "Attach files more easily" which, when you click it, takes you to a setup process where you download an att updater. I ran that and it did seem to change anything. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make Firefox handle this page without having to restart in 32-bit mode every time.

That means that you need to run Firefox in 32 bit mode if you want to use that plugin.

# Right click or control-click the Firefox.app icon
# Select "Get Info"

Can't run (Media Encoder or Encore) and Premiere Pro

I finished a sequence, started up Media Encoder, then began editing a new sequence with Premierer.
The result was that after a while, Media Encoder "Not Responding".
I started Media Encoder again and this time I left the room to watch TV.
Media Encoder built the AVI file correctly.
Also Encore died when I tried to use Premiere at the same time.
Is that the rule with CS4 applications?

In EN once I click on the Build button to begin building a DVD it will take more than 30 minutes before the DVD comes out.
In the mean time I would like to fire up PR to start editing some other project.
If that is not something I can do then I can use my KVM switch to go to my old PC and produce artwork for the DVD case.
On another topic, I am in the process of making a BluRay DVD with Encore and when I clicked on the Preview button, instead of getting the neat little window that allows me to run a simulation of the DVD menu, I got a huge version of that menu that I could not manuver to get to the controller buttons.

Might work; might not. Legacy apps (CS2, 3, 4) that weren't built to run on modern operating systems may have trouble with Mavericks. I think you'll be OK with CS5, 6 and CC.

I had an issue like you describe before. Everything was updated with my machine and phone, usb debugging , allow installation of non market apps... but i was not able to manually install my own apk's on my device.
If i were to put the .apk on my server or just drag it to the phone via USB i could not install it. it was "untitled" or "unknown" i forget.
The only way it would work was on export "install application on the connected android device".
However If i took anyone else's .apk made from flash, i could install it from my server or via usb drag/drop.
Even at one point someone on the forum posted an apk and the source .fla

Export the same .fla myself with no changes = FAIL to install (unless launching directly from flash).
I was using windows xp, I happen to be upgrading my cpu last month so i installed windows 7 and re-installed flash, and now it works fine. I never figured it out. I was somehow producing non-viable .apks . However it works now and I have done nothing different (besides going from xp to win7 and reinstalling flash).

If you haven't tried yet, i could email you a .fla and .apk, see if you can install that from your ftp. Then re-export if yourself and see if it fails again?
