Can I run CS5 twice?

I need to run 2 identical versions of CS5 this is so that one can run a batch in the background and yet still edit in the other.
Now I have been able to have 2 folders with CS5 on and they both work. However I get this prompt asking
"The application has been moved, and its path changed. To update the configuration, click update."
I can rename the application so that its say "alternative CS5" but I get the same prompt and updating only means that when I run "adobe photoshop CS5" I get the prompt again, constantly reupdating the configuration.
Is there any workaround to this to increase my productivity.

From what I can gather I am one person using Photoshop, who wants to run it twice and still be the user of both, another person cannot be at my computer while i am there.
So to make a post here on the adobe forum as a paying user of photoshop seams to me fair and legitimate. If it does become illegal use of the software then my question of a work around, in terms of droplet usage or by buying a second license would help speed up the process here a lot. Also having this second license would I still get the same problem?
So by posting here I am hoping for some useful tips and suggestions.

  • Can you run CS5 without Java under Lion?

    I know you need Java to install CS5 initially, but can apps in CS5 run without Java? Is it just features (AdobeConnect) that require Java, or will everythng grind to a halt without it?
    With all the security holes in Java, is would be nice to uninstall it.

    It sounds like it's necessary from this Adobe technote: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/known-issues-mac-os-10.html
    "If the Java Runtime isn't installed, the following issues can occur in Adobe applications:
    Features are missing or behave improperly
    The software doesn't start
    Prompts to install Java Runtime occur
    Applications hang or quit"

  • Kb981939 - kb981939.ps1 - Can I run it twice?

    Okej, here is the thing:
    1) In my Console.log of SBS 2008 server i found the exact same entry as listed under Symtom 2 on this site:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/981939
    2) So I followed the Resolution steps as suggested in the article.
    3) Before the intervention the database SBSMonitoring size was cca <1GB. After I ran the script, now, the size of  SBSMonitoring is cca >2GB.
    There is no error in Console.log any more (now for secoudn day).
    4) Question - can I run the script again? Or what do you suggest to do?

    I'd replace the database with an empty one.

  • Can I run CS5 on windows 8?

    I' m looking for a new computer and it will have windows 8 on it. My question is, runs my CS5 on this system?

    It will run, but there may be issues. Beyond that there is no point in asking for further details. CS5 comes from a time when Win 8 didn't exist and was never tested on it. Any problems you may encounter will have to be resolved as you go along, but at the same time you may not see any issues at all. Depends too much on the specific configuration of your hardware.

  • Can you run Photoshop CS3 and CS5 on the same system?

    I did this before on another system where I had both CS2 and CS3 installed and I could run either version when I wanted.  Back then I just never bothered to uninstall CS2.
    Now on this system I'm tunning CS3 and I have some plug ins I use regularly that aren't compatible with CS5 and I don't want to lay out the cash again for them.  So I'd like to be able to install CS5 and use it primarily but when I need to use the plug ins then just switch to CS3.
    I've noticed many programs these days won't run on top of another version.  So is there any reason I won't be able to run both?

    Absolutely.  All versions of Photoshop can coexist simultaneously, though you can only run one at a time.
    It's usual not to install the old version until you're sure the new one is working great.  If you have the space, never uninstall it.  It's handy to have it around for answering questions, here for example.

  • 12" 13" or 14" notebooks that can run CS5.5 half decently?

    Hello,
    I am buying a new laptop with the intention of doing some HD video editing. When seated at my desk I will use an external HD monitor, but I am looking for a fairly compact laptop so I can remain portable.
    Are there any models that are reccomended? Seems most 13" are without discrete graphics. If I was to have a dual core i7, what does this lack of discrete graphics mean in real terms? For example if I was editing HD AVCHD what sort of extra delays would I experience? Would the interface be unusable? Or just slower? By 20%? 50% 200%?
    I would prefer a 13" machine and have even been looking at the Lenevo x220 12.5" machine. If I get a 14" machine there tends to be more potential for discrete graphics - but since I'm not doing CS5 stuff day-in-day-out it isn't the only determiner of my purchase. Whatever I buy, it would be with a SSD.
    Any specific recomendations for 13 or 14" machines most appreciated.
    Thanks

    Thanks for the replies!
    What minimum CPU would you advise for running CS5.5?
    As far as screen size goes - any laptop that I look to get would be capable of displaying 1920x1080 on an external monitor. Likely 95% of any CS5 work that I do would be using an external monitor so I am far less bothered about the screen resolution of the laptop itself. While I'd like at least 900 vertical pixels on a 13/14 inch machine (there are a few!) its not a total deal breaker for me because of the external monitor.
    I was thinking about these all with an ssd:
    Lenovo x220 - Intel Core i7-2640M Processor (2.8GHz, 4MB L3, 1333MHz FSB), 8gb ram, intel 3000 integrated graphics, 12.5"
    Dell e6320 or e6420 (13/14" respectively - Same processor, or a quad i7 is available for the 14", 8gb ram, integrated graphics or discrete option on the 14" of NVIDIA NVS 4200M
    How is that Nvidia NVS 4200M for CS5.5? Is anyone able to give some time based example difference in performance between the 4200m and the non-discrete intel integrated 3000 graphics?
    I'm guess my current position is that I will not be buying a 15" or larger laptop at the current time - so while the smaller ones might not be perfect, I'd rather buy something that will let me do the odd bit or work when needed (albeit more slowly than I'd like). Perhaps I should be more accuratley looking for the 'least bad' 12-14" machines
    Thanks!

    ACR 7.4 is the one that will read T5i raw files and it is CS6 specific. You can upgrade for $200 Standard or $400 Extended in you need 3D support.
    You can also see if converting your T5i files to .dng format will do just as well.

  • Can I run CS6 on Desktop and CS5 on Laptop at the same time?

    First off, let me start by saying I am a small business owner. I am at work between 10 to 16 hours per day, every day. I have very little time in my life that I am not sitting at my main desktop macintosh, unless I am sleeping.
    All of my my work files are on my desktop computer in CS5. I plan to keep using CS5 for all working files for now. I only purchased CS6 to backsave.
    But I want to LEARN CS6, and slowly work into it before I make a sudden, or dramatic, change.
    I want to do turtorials and go through the CS6 learning curve on my laptop. It sits peacfully at my side, all day every day. Any downtime I can be playing, learning and experimenting. Without fear of doing any damage to my CS5 files or my main production mac.
    If I try to run CS5 on the desktop and CS6 on the laptop, at the same time -- will they CALL HOME, STOP, FREEZE, LOCK UP, or and send me, in any form, to ADOBE JAIL or ABUSE CENTER?
    Does anyone have an answer for this?

    Thank you both -- you have made my entire day. I thought I could, but was worried that something terrible would happen. Which I am worried about to begin with. It will be great to be able to learn all of the componets of the full Desging and Web upgrade, at my own pace, in my down time.

  • ID CS5 on Mac 10.5.8 can't run java scripts from User folder

    I seem to have a problem with my java scripts in ID on my Mac. I store them in my user scripts folder, but while I can run any applescripts in the folder, doubleclicking on any of the java scripts gets me exactly nothing. If I open the scripts in Extend Script Toolkit and run them from there, they will work, but I can't run them from within ID. The scripts in the Sample Script folder work. I've tried changing the script extentions, I've opened them in the toolkit and resaved them. Still no response at all when I doubleclick on them in the scripts panel. Any idea what could be wrong? I can run the same scripts from within ID on my Windows laptop, so I don't think the scripts themselves are at fault. In fact, I just moved them into the Sample scripts folder, and they run with no problem. Does the User script folder just not work?

    Not sure what a screenshot will tell you, but here you go.
    Well, I was hoping that the icon next to the scripts would be instructive.
    Apparently not, though!
    You said the same scripts work fine if you move them into the Application Scripts folder, specifically the Sample Scripts folder. I assume, then, that the sample scripts also break if moved to the User Scripts folder?
    Is your User Scripts folder (and thus your home directory) on a non-local (network) filesystem? Are the permissions on it wacky? If you Reveal In Finder it, and Get Info, do you see anything out of the ordinary?
    What if you delete it (err, move it aside) and recreate it?
    This seems pretty strange...

  • Can't run multiple instances on same page!

    Hi,
    Since I got no response on the shadowbox forums after 2 weeks, I thought it's worth to post it here and hope someone can help me out.
    Note: This is also related on non-joomla pages. I've tested it on plain html as well (by Dreamweaver) and get the same issue.
    The following issue was posted by me on the shadowbox forums:
    I was wondering if the following is possible.
    I've tried almost everything where I can think of, but no luck.
    Searched many forums and googled a lot, but without success.
    I got feeling that I'm so close and missing some simple solution.
    So I'm stuck here, I'm not able to figure it out.
    This is what I want to achieve:
    My website is running on Joomla 1.5. And I'm using a Shadowbox extension.
    In an article I've put multiple SWF movies, like previews acting like buttons.
    So when clicking on a SWF button/movie, Shadowbox opens and plays a related FLV movie.
    To achieve this part I've followed the instructions at this site under FAQ > first paragraph.
    So far so good...
    Now the ugly thing is when putting multiple swf buttons on a single page, after clicking a random button Shadowbox always displays the same flv movie. I did some altering with ID's and such but had no luck.
    Even try to alter with the Shadowbox options and variables, flashVars and such (at this site under Options and Usage) but that worked out for me.
    The strange thing is when placing the buttons, let's say in an article belonging to a section and category and make the articles paginated, after clicking the swf button the related flv plays. Browsing to the next page and clicking the button, the related flv will play also. This is the way it should be. Unfortunately it doesn't work when multiple buttons are displayed on the frontpage or an single article regardless whether they belong to sections and categories or not.
    Even when a single code is placed in a single article and display 2 or more articles containg a different swf and a different related flv link only the last added flv plays with every random swf button/movie.
    This the code I'm using for each swf (actionscript behavior):
    FIRST INSTANCE SWF=====================================
    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:openShadowbox
    ('http://test.cquence-multimedia.nl/images/cqmm_test.flv','flv','title')");
    SECOND INSTANCE SWF=====================================
    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:openShadowbox
    ('http://test.cquence-multimedia.nl/images/WizardFinal_1.flv','flv','title')");
    ================================================
    This is the code I'm using in the article (2 instances on a single page):

    Sorry...I still don't get it. What is it about Windows FUS that keeps iTunes from running running the process twice? It can run many other non-Apple windows apps in multiple user sessions (commercial apps, open source apps, audio/video apps, networked apps). I can even run two different virtual machines at the same time under two different user sessions.
    Why can iTunesHelper.exe run twice but iTunes.exe cannot? Why can I run Safari at the same time? Quicktime Player runs fine under multiple user sessions.
    Blaming it on Windows and/or FUS sounds like FUD. Can anyone give a valid technical reason? Semaphores? Mutexes? An admission (and explanation) that the Windows version is purposely crippled?

  • How can i run a jar file?

    hi there
    how can i run a far file on my pc. i have installed JRE 1.3.1, and set the classpath to C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1_02\bin for the user variables, what else do i need to do to run it?

    Hi everyone.. i had a funny problem. Microsoft removed from registry and system the vm and i got the problem of java.dll and the registry problem when compiling.
    How did i resolve that?
    too easy:
    1. go to the registry and search the key "JavaSoft"
    2. add a Key with the name "Java Runtime Environment"
    3. select the new key and add a alfa-numeric Value with the name "CurrentVersion"
    4. set the value c:\jdk1.4 //the place of your jdk-version
    5. insert a new Key with the name "1.4"
    6. go to the new key and add an alfanumeric value with the name "JavaHome" and put the value c:\jdk1.4\jre\lib
    do this where you find the key Javasoft (in my registry was twice)
    i did it and got no problems

  • MacBook Air Hard Drive too small - can I run applications from an external drive or is there a better solution?

    I just got a MacBook Air 11" 10.7.2 2GB/64GB.  I love it, but the internal drive is sooo small.  Occasionally I need to take projects home from work or travel with my computer.  Is there any way to run apps (Final Cut Studio, CS5, Office 10, etc) from an external drive?  I am trying to convert over from my Macbook Pro (running Snow Leopard) and I can't seem to find a solution.
    Thanks for your time!
    Samantha

    Samantha,
    It's best to keep your applications on the internal drive and consider external storeage for your data.
    Your choices are direct attached storeage to the USB port (external portable USB drives), storeage on your home or work network, or cloud-based storeage, like DropBox.
    You can also look at slimming down your OSX installation on your MBA by removing unwanted fonts and printer drivers.
    Btw, you will struggle to run CS5 and Final Cut Studio on a MBA with 2GB RAM. Only install the applications you really need on your MBA.
    Can I ask which model MacBook Pro you are migrating from?

However, you may not run the software simultaneously on both the primary and secondary computers.
    so the answer must be Yes :-)
