Can I run InDesign on a tablet?

I love my laptop but it is just too bulky to carry to client meetings. Has InDesign been developed to run on tablets yet and if so, which tablet would be best to work on?

Can I install CS6 and use my current license/serial on a Surface Pro 3?

  • Can you run labview on Windows Tablet PC Edition?

Can you run labview on Windows Tablet PC Edition?...or does LabVIEW executable and Run-time engine operate with this OS?

LabVIEW 7.x will run without any problems on a Windows Tablet PC with SP1. There have been documented issues with Windows XP SP2 and LabVIEW subsequently not exiting properly--LabVIEW's window closes but somehow it is still present in the task manager.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can i run InDesign CC on two computers simultaneously?

As the subject says: Can i run InDesign CC on two computers simultaneously? We run CC for Teams.

    Hi PerGronroos,
You  can run InDesign or any Adobe products from the Creative Cloud as long as they are running under two different Adobe ID.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
    Thanks.

  • Can you run indesign cs4 on a laptop without internet connection

I believe that Indesign CS4 checks over the internet before opening. If that is the case can you run it on a laptop without an internet connection?
    Thanks

From an earlier post by Nicolas Mertens:
"here's what I got from Customer Services about this problem:
[Help] files are located in the following location:
    C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_us/InDesign/6.0. Also
from that location, you can launch the file 'index.html' and this
should direct you to *the online help that you would access through
    the program itself.*"
I found that the files are not at that location, but at C:/Program
Files/Common Files/Adobe/Help/en_GB/InDesign/6.0 (this is in Windows
    Vista, by the way). "
Yours would presumably be at [the German equivalent of
..]/de-DE/InDesign6.0, or whatever your locale is (AT, CH...)

  • Can we run InDesign CS6 on a citrix environment?

We are now working with InDesign CS4 on a Citrix environment and we would like to upgrade to InDesign CS6. Will this work? What version of Citrix is best used?

Yes is the quick answer to the question.  This is pretty common in large organizations for design departments or knowledge workers that need access to Creative Suite applications.  Although most of the links and documents is on CS5, I have not heard about problems in CS6. InDesign does not require OpenGL hardware acceleration.
Here are some links on the Adobe web site:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/indesign/documentation.html#citrix
    http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/indesign/pdfs/indesign_cs5_citrix_support _document.pdf
(unfortunate typo in Adobe's document title)
The Citrix Ready Community Verified site also has customer comments on how to run InDesign on XenApp 6.x.
    http://forums.citrix.com/thread.jspa?threadID=303877
Judging from the number of votes (11) on http://community.citrix.com/citrixready/product/adobe+indesign+cs4+v6+0, there are numerous companies doing this, both on XenApp and XenDesktop, however it is hard to track who does what in our installed base.
    Hope this helps.

  • My OSX10.6.8 can't run InDesign CC

I was told I needed OSX10.6 to run the latest InDesign CC - But I have 10.6.8 installed on my machine and it will not run. Adobe says that I have to upgrade. Any idea why my current 10.6.8 doesn't work?

You don't have to migrate from 10.6 to 10.9 (Mavericks). You can buy upgrade DVD from the Apple Store for $19.99 to go to Lion (10.7):
                                      Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

  • Can I run InDesign . . .

i want to buy/install indesign for use on my mac mini which has an intel core 2 duo processor.  the system rec for cs5 suite says multi-core processor, but i wasn't sure if that rec applied to all the suite products or just certain ones.
    will this fly?
    thanks!

Should be acceptable depending upon how much RAM you have.

  • Cannot run InDesign!

I can't run InDesign trial version on my computer. There is a crash when I try to do it. I can only see a main menu for about one second, then it turn off and come back to desktop.
    Important technical parametres:
    Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    Lenovo Z580
I would be grateful for any help.

OK, that means the problem is either in the ID installation, or your system configuration, but I'm not quite sure how to proceed form here with the trial becasue I don't know if rmoving and reinstalling is posible for CC trials.
    Anyone?

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

  • Clickonce application can't run on Linx 10 Windows tablet for full screen

My C# Clickonce application can sucessfully installed and run on a Linx 10 Windows tablet. My working station is set as 1280*800 resolution and the tablet is also been set as 1280*800. The form size is therefore set to 1280*800. My Clickonce application
can properly display on my working station (full screen), the problem is when it runs on this windows tablet, it can't be properly displayed for full screen. Is any one can tell me why? What I need is let my software to run in full screen on this windows tablet.
I don't want to set the windows forms to 'maximum'. This will make the buttons on the form looks mess.

    Hello Mingxu,
Maybe you mean your project is a windows form application, and you deployed it with ClickOnce and get that installed, right?
    >>My Clickonce application can properly display on my working station (full screen), the problem is when it runs on this windows tablet, it can't be properly displayed for full screen.
Which form has this issue, the one when you installing that application or the form you are running the application?
I will based on the result to get the proper forum to help you, and if that is an issue about the form of your windows form application, then this is the right forum for your issue.

  • Can I run the indesign on my stationary desktop and my lap-top? or do I have to buy two licens ?

    one or two licens ?
can i run the same licens on my statonary computer and my lap-top?

    Hi NilsHartmann,
You can run InDesign on your Desktop and your lap-top for your personal use with one license.
As per EULA you can install and activate the software on two machines, however you should not use it on both the machines at the same time.

  • Running InDesign on Tablets

I'm imagining what it would be like to work outside of the office and home on a highly portable tablet system. I've not owned an ipad or tablet in the past and must first ask whether it would be possible to run InDesign on either of these? I would prefer not to continue with laptops. Laptops space keyboard and screen uncomfortably close ergonomically, in my opinion, and it I suspect it might be nice to work in between a tablet with external keyboard on the go, and return home to the higher-end system with color correct monitor.
Are we years away from such tablets or is it possible to do right now, in some capacity? A dozen searches have produced answers only in the form of using InDesign for creating content viewable on tablets, not creating with InDesign on tablets.
The newest Samsung Galaxy 10 appears in a couple weeks, a formidable tablet, but whether it is capable of running InDesign is still question for me, with perhaps obvious answers for those who use tablets.

The only advantage is that it's a tablet and contrary to some of the hate out there, it's really pretty nice. I don't own one yet but with DPS support coming with Win 8.1 I will get one.
I don't disagree Bob. I suppose my no-advantage assertion was in the context of the OP's orginal statement:

  • I'm running Indesign CS5 & it appears my Adobe PDF presesets have stopped working. Can you help?

I'm running Indesign CS5 & it appears my Adobe PDF presesets have stopped working. Can you help?

It's under utilities in the window menu.
If the simple PDF works, that may indicate a problem with the file after all, but one way to to force the export to the foreground is to create a new Book (File > New > Book), then add the file that's giving you trouble to that book. (a Book is just a container format used to combine multiple .indd files into a single output)
From the Book panel flyout menu you can export to PDF and see what that does. Failure indicates a file problem, success a background task problem.
It's a little odd that you aren't getting an error message....
Anyway, if the problem is the file, try export in two halves. If both halves export, it's a system resources problem and not much you can do other than attempt to see what is using all the memory (probably some large complex vector object, or many vector objects) or just do the export in chunks that work and combine them in Acrobat Pro. If one half fails, try exporting half  fo the failing half at a time. Keep dividing the failing half until you isolate a page with the problem.

  • Can i convert indesign document to web page in dreamweaver

Can I convert indesign 6 document to dreamweaver web page

As SnakEyes suggests, the short answer is, "no." The long answer is more complicated.
InDesign is a tool that provides you with desktop publishing, not web publishing. DTP tools let you choose fonts, precisely place graphics and photos, create columns with text that flows from one to the next and so on.
A website is completely different. Web browsers do not have access to unlimited typefaces and, while your digital font license does allow you to send typefaces to a printer, it typically does not allow you to send it to all web browsers accessing your website on the internet. And also not all browsers work with all types of fonts hosted on a server.
Text in browsers is rendered at screen resolution, which is typically 72 DPI. When you are setting up for a printer, you can access printers with 1200 and 2400 DPI, which is very high resolution. So your use of typefaces will, of necessity, be different for a website than it will be for print. We typically print for publications using serif typefaces for running text, as it helps the eye to flow to the next character and the next word. But since screen resolution is so low, we use sans-serif type for running text on a website because it will be more easily read than serif type on a low-resolution screen.
Layout options for print tend to be very precise. One may simply drag and drop an image and have text flow around it in a DTP application. There is no design application for website building that allows you to do that which also gives you clean HTML and CSS code. So, if you want anything near like the precision for a website that you are used to in the DTP environment, you're going to need to learn HTML and CSS.
Dreamweaver is a code-writing engine that has a display aspect that will let you see your design as you write the code. It also automates the production of a very limited amount of code, manages your links and will allow you to put your finished web pages on a server.
Microsoft allows you to export Excel and Word documents "as web pages" and the result is horrific. It can actually take more time to clean up the code produced by these Microsoft applications than it would be to simply create a website from scratch in Dreamweaver.
With In Design, the built-in HTML export is designed to extract content, not geometry. The end result of an export to HTML bears no resemblance to the original layout. The HTML exporter does allow the designer to attach external CSS and JavaScript files, but this assumes the designer is comfortable with code and has time to re-conceive the layout from scratch.
Now, you can use the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite to do the export. This ranges from about $400.00 to $100,000 plus usage fees. This price may be good for the New York Times, but not cost-effective for a single designer or a small shop. The output of the DPS is limited. It only outputs to tablet devices and the iPhone. It won't output to desktops or Android phones. Everyone who wants to see your publication has to sign up for an Adobe.com account, then they have to send you their email address associated with the account. You then have to add their email to a distribution list, tell them to download the Adobe Content Viewer to their tablet, and then look at your publication through the ACV. Or you can create an app that is a stand-in for the Adobe Content Viewer, like the New York Times did and then you have to pay Apple the iOS Developer fee.
Or, you can simply make a website that sticks to modern HTML and CSS standards.
I'm looking forward to Ken Binney's comments after he sees the code structure exported from InDesign.
