Can I run logic pro x on iMac 2.8Ghz core 2 duo, 4GB RAM?

I currently run Logic Pro 9 (9.1.8) on my iMac (early 2008 model as above) but really like the look of pro x features, will it run on my iMac?

Thanks for that info but my iMac (according to Crucial memory finder) is limited to 4GB

Hello all!
Congratulations to us on the release of the new Logic Pro!
I am still running Logic Pro 8 (and was waiting for X to come out since I knew it wasn't too far off) but am concerned over the loss of 32-bit plug-ins with Logic Pro X (the wrapping of my old VST plug-ins alone hurts!). I've heard that installing Logic Pro X doesn't in any way gimp Logic Pro 9's usage, but can someone confirm whether or not Logic Pro X and Logic Pro 8 can operate in harmony on the same Mac?
As a bonus, is there any reason to believe that Apple would disable earlier versions of Logic Pro (such as version 8) from running on Mavericks?

Can I run logic pro 8 on a mac in conjunction with a PC?

Im usig logic pro 8 on Mac but I want to use sounds from a synth that only runs on a PC.
Any suggestions what I can use to sync the programs together on both Pc and Mac?
I thought I had heard about a Steinberg program that could do that..

Steinberg makes a program called VST-Stack that allows up to 16 VST instruments loaded into a rack, each addressed by a separate MIDI channel. It ships with FX racks, compressors/reverbs...etc. Similar to Cubase without the sequencer part.
If you have a PC with a MIDI interface VST-Stack would work.
Caveat: It doesn't have MIDI clock sync so don't expect to get delay sync or other synth time based effects/sample&hold to sync to your tempo. As far as a basic synth rack, it works great. Don't know if it runs on Vista, it does run on XP.
There may be similar free programs but i don't know of any offhand.

i am looking into buying a macbook but not sure if i want a pro or an air, air would be ideal for travel and work purposes but assuming that it can run LPX while im at home in my studio. does anyone else with an Air know if it can be run with the memory space that it comes with or will i have to upgrade to the bigger storage, i am also going to buy the 1 or 2tb external to save most if not all of my work. thoughts?

it depends on what you are planning to do. in general, the pro offers a better display (better if you need much space on logic) and more power. for example, if you want to record 4 or more tracks simultaneously, i recommend the pro. also, the pro has two thunderbolt adapters, which is very helpful if you have a thunderbult interface (e.g. focusrite) and an external display.

One tip.. Once you have installed it.. remember to update LP to 9.1.8 as that is the most stable version under Lion....
I would recommend doing this before you run LP for the first time...

I am planning to purchase MacBook Air-11inch due to light weight. As MacBook air has turbo boost feature upto 2.6GHz.

I would recommend a different machine. I don't see how you will do anything in Xcode on an 11" display. I finally broke down and got a 2nd monitor for my 13".

Hi everyone, i use a 13'' macbook pro for work, and it has been flickering from time to time (a lot), everytime i go to the dock, especially when im using Pages 09. Also, from time to time, the macbook pro freezes, and it just sits there, i cant use the trackpad, keys, nothing... it doesnt even respond to closing and opening the lid, i always have to hard-restart/reset it.
It has already happened like 4 or 5 times since i got it (about 3 months).
Just wanted to add that up.

I'm running logic pro 8.0.2 on Leopard 10.5.8. I've recorded an evening of live music, the cut the recording into songs using one audio file folder. When working on an individual song, I can't access the sampler. I get the message "nothing to display"

When working on an individual song, I can't access the sampler. I get the message "nothing to display" or "no region or audio file selected" After much research on the web, I believe this is a permanent bug. Does anyone have a good work-around for this type of work. We record live 16T band rehearsals constantly and would love to be able to break individual songs out of the large file and be able to use the sampler. Thanks in advance for your ideas! Cheers.

Another thing - if I copy one of the tracks to another track, then the sample editor works on the copied track. I don't want to have to copy 16 tracks to new tracks to be able to use the sample editor on a project. Thanks again.

Well, how have to determined no signal is being recieved to your mac?
Have you got something that shows the actual signal? Or have you just been trying to control a VST? What software are you using by the way?
I personnally went with a AKAI MPK25, because it's made already mapped for logic & ableton etc, so it just makes things incredibly easy.
I would suggest you return it if you can as a dead unit & perhaps look at something else a bit easier?
Otherwise, if you just want to get this working we can have a look a bit deeper.
And driver? OS X driver?

Did you find out anything more in regard to this?
I have been using Pro Tools 8 with the MBox 2 connected to my iMac operating Leopard. It worked a treat for nearly four years.
However the hardrive has just been replaced on the iMac which now has Snowleopard. I don't want to have to update to Lion and then fork out £500 for Pro Tools 10.
I would be content to get Logic Pro 9 if I can attach the MBox 2 to it.
Your advice would be appreciated

You can't, I think. But you can open an old project where it was used, or if you know somebody else with logic, you can ask a copy of the presets and then manually drop them where they belong. What is missing exactly and how did you erase the presets?
