Hi. I have an HP Laptop from 2008. I had to replace the battery last year. Stupidly, I kept the Laptop plugged into A/C. The battery started losing power a week or so ago, losing 2-3 % daily. Today it is at 45%. Problem is-I cannot remove the battery-the mechanism allowing access to battery is now jammed. Is there anything I can do to preserve my Notebook? I should add I am somewhat new to technology (as of 2008) and middle-aged. Thanks in advance!

Yes you can, the risk is w/o battery when having main (AC) problem specially losing power suddenly data on HDD may be corrupted.

The G3 beige now starts and runs without making the breaking glass sound.
Using TechTool Deluxe 2.5.4 on the simple test all systems pass, fpu, ram, (even my over clocked) processor, drive.
Tried TechTool again standard test, Ram only, system froze following the Vram test. Mouse moves cursor, clock stops.
Tried TechTool again using the os on the tech Tool disk (9.0.4), passed ram including vram. Mouse moves cursor, clock stops.

Sorry, but officially Apple does not allow redownloads of purchased items other than iPhone/iPod touch applications and iBooks. It's your responsibility to make backup copies (as iTunes itself advises) in case something goes wrong with your system, as unfortunately it apparently did in your case, and you lose all the information on your hard drive. The official statement of their policy can be found here, among other places.
For apps, look here for instructions on redownloading. For songs, movies, and videos, if you don't have a backup of your purchased items, either on external media or another computer and don't have them on an iOS device (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad), you're probably out of luck and will need to repurchase your content.
If you have your content on an iOS device, post back and someone here can help you get them restored. Otherwise you can try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service (select the "Music Purchases" or "Video Purchases" category, as appropriate, then "Lost or Missing Items". As Mike indicated , " you can use MAX to simulate some (not all) DAQmx devices. There's a NI-USB-9233 device that you can probably use. Open MAX, then expand "My System", the expand "Devices and Interfaces", then right-click on "NI-DAQmx Devices" and select "Create New NI-DAQmx Device -> NI-DAQmx Simulated Device". Select the device from the list. See the online help for MAX for further help.
If you don't see "NI-DAQmx Devices" in MAX you need to install NI-DAQmx. You can download it from NI here. "

for production environments you must run Forms and Reports through Oracle Application Server as there no longer is a client-server runtime. For development puposes tehre is a HTTP server in Oracle Developer Suite that is used to run both servers.

Can't run Skype on laptop - Why?

I'm new to this community and can't find a solution to my problem so I need help. - My technucal knowledge is also very basic so I need simple explanations.
I have 2 laptops and 1 Androuid Tablet. One laptop runs Windows 7 Home Premium and the other Windows 8.1 I have Skype installed on all 3 devices and previously it worked perfectly.
Because of a home move my devices nwere all left switrched off for several weeks.
I now find that Skype still works on my tablet and also on my Windows 8.1 laptop. However, it no longer works on my Windos 7 laptop.
When I run the programme I get the sign in screen. I sign it but get a message saying 'cannot connect.' I click on 'can't access my account and I am sent a message by email giving me an account access code to use. When I use the code I am 'signed in' but only given access to a page providinbg details of calls made and credit available, etc. - I do not use this credit facility so it is no use to me. There is no way to get from this page to my usual page showing my contacts and allowing me to communicate wity them. Nor can I find a way to correspond with Skype Support to ask them for help.
Anyone got a suggestion please?

Can I open up my laptop without voiding the warranty?

I have a T520, and I bought the extended warranty for it. Still ~700 days to go on that.
My CMOS battery is acting up, and I know how to fix it, and I have step by step instructions, and I can do it myself for free in a single night. This is an infinitely better option than leaving it with some support team, even if I could do it today, AND labor was free, neither of which sound likely at all. With the way things are looking, the soonest I could get it to someone who can fix it would be next Friday.
So, back to my question. Am I allowed to fix it myself, or will that void the warranty?

well there is NO warranty void sticker that prevents you from taking off the palmrest/keyboard bezel and do self service on it, although this is not recommended. But if you damage anything as the result of the self service, it is not covered by Lenovo.

I have it working on a Win 98 system.
I "think" X-Windows loads the display drivers ? Not sure though.
I've an old ATI All-in-Wonder video capture card, and think I have to
upgrade from X Windows 11 Release 6, to a newer version to use the
new Linux Graphics drivers for my card under the Gatos project in www.Sourceforge.net.... ( For video-in capture, not necessarily video display )

Yes, you can. However, you must have the Mac OS 9 System Folder installed on your hard drive.

Since I installed yosemite I get a window to install legacy JAVA SE 6 RUNTIME and can't run ADOBE Illustrator Cs6 without it .

So anything LEGACY means it is probably not supported and chocked full of security issues.
what JAVA flavor do I need to install?
WHat do I do ?
I have a lot of work to do...

Try this:
Download Java for Mac OS X 2014-001 from http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572.
Install the Java update using the downloaded .dmg file.
When installation is complete, a Software Update dialog box appears. The dialog box asserts that Java SE 6 Runtime is required to run Adobe Illustrator CS6.
In the Software Update dialog box, click Install.
Launch Illustrator.
In Adobe Illustrator CS6 some plug-ins has dependency on Java, therefore Java is required for them to function properly.
