Can I run RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 on my MacBook Pro?

Hi everyone!
RollerCoaster Tycoon was one of my favourite games when I was a PC user. Now I'm a Mac user I wanna play it on my MacBook Pro 13'' (early 2011).
After a little Google search I found out that Aspyr release a Intel version of RTC 3, and I was excited about it, but I noticed that on Aspyr page there's a note saying: "Intel integrated video chipsets are not supported" (here: http://www.aspyr.com/games/rollercoaster-tycoon-3-platinum). Does this means that I can't play RollerCoaster Tycoon on my MacBook Pro? If I search other sites, I see that people run RTC 3 on Intel HD 3000. I'm confused...
I really want to play this game my beloved Mac, but I'm not spending $49,99 for a game I can't even play! Please help me!
My MacBook Pro tech specs:
- Intel Core i7 2,7 GHz
- 4GB RAM
- Lion 10.7.4
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 384MB
Oh, and sorry for the bad english...

If you downgrade to Snow Leapard you can. It has X11 installed on it which allows you to run power PC applications. I only know this because I used to play that game until I upgraded to Lion
The good news is your machine is powerful enouph to run a VM with windows installed on it. Then just buy the game for Windows and play it on the VM.

Parallels is another solution, I hear its very user friendly
or do boot camp. The VM is better though

With only 2 GB of RAM, it might not work too well. Try it and if you have problems, add RAM.
The 2 places I’ve seen recommended most to buy reliable RAM are below. I have purchased RAM several times from Other World Computing and have always been very satisfied with the product and service. They have on-line instructions on how to replace the RAM. OWC has also tested RAM above what Apple states is the maximum. I now have 6GB installed on a early 2008 iMac supposedly limited to 4 GB and noticed an improvement.

  • Total noob Q: Can I run virtual machines on a MacBook Pro ?

My apologies for entering totally green, folks. My last Apple was the first Mac I bought in university, sold quickly, and preceded by a bunch of ]['s. Sadly, I have been living under a rock for 20 years, and just this year spent $200k at IBM for servers etc in a pro capacity ...
My problem is that I am not gonna buy one more piece of lame Lenovo garbage ever again, and I need a new notebook.
The time has come where I am considering the change. I'd enjoy it really, to crawl out of this shell.
Because I am a total noob, the answer to my question is probably so easy for you folks ...
I need to keep Windows for now. I need to run Linux. I need to VM a few Novell 6.5 servers as I transition them to SUSE, and I have precisely zero MacOS apps at the moment.
With this said, does it make sense to consider a fully optioned MacBook Pro to take the place of a highest-end Thinkpad, to do the above (and more), using a Virtual Machine technology ?
My first months with a Mac would probably be spent in virtual machines as I get with the program, but I really do want to get out of this situation that nobody makes a good PC anymore and the best Wintel box seems to a Mac.
I want to believe. Please help me.

  • Can I run sims 2 on my macbook pro 10.6.8?

    I would like to purcahse the sims 2 for a mac. I have a macbook pro OS X version 10. 6. 8.
Through researching it seems like sometimes there are problems and I'd like to make a good decision before buying something that won't work.
    Thanks!

Probably.  It's a PPC game, so it should run on 10.6.8.

  • Can I run duel OS on my macbook pro?

Due to some older software that hasn't upgraded yet, I am forced to use OS 10.6.8 on my macbook pro intel.   Can I put on Maveriks and still keep the old OS to go to when I want to use the older software?   If so, is it hard to do? If so, what steps should I take?  I remember back in the old OS 9 days I ran both 9 and X for a while.

You can repartition your internal drive adding a second partition large enough to hold what you want.
    Open Disk Utility
Select the drive's name (e.g. 251 Apple SSD SM251) not the Macintosh HD.
    Click the Partition tab.
Click the '+' to split the Macintosh HD into 2 equal partitions.
You can click and drag up or down in the middle to adjust the size of each partition.
Once you have what you want, click the Apply button. This will apply the changes.
You can now install whatever OS X version you want onto the 2nd partition.

  • Can I run two displays with my Macbook Pro?

I have the early 2011 Macbook Pro, with the 256mb ram on the graphics card, and what I think was the first generation "Thunderbolt" video output. I'm currently running a single 27"Cinema Display using a mini-display port adaptor out. I'm wondering if there's a way to drive two monitors with it - say a Thunderbolt display and the current Cinema Display? What configuration of displays, adaptors, and/or cables would I need to do this?
    Thanks!

    I suggest reviewing information here:

yes I just tried all those suggested solutions but they didn't work, actually I don't have that folder structure that they're saying... • Why can't I use my mid 2010 macbook pro with 8GB memoir and NVIDIA GEForce GT 330M 256MB to run 3D in photoshop CC?

Why can't I use my mid 2010 macbook pro with 8GB memoir and NVIDIA GEForce GT 330M 256MB to run 3D in photoshop CC?

    3-D is very memory intensive.
    System requirements | Photoshop
    Mac OS
Multicore Intel processor with 64-bit support
    Mac OS X v10.7, v10.8, or v10.9
2 GB of RAM (8 GB recommended)
3.2 GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (cannot install on a volume that uses a case-sensitive file system or on removable flash storage devices)
1024x768 display (1280x800 recommended) with 16-bit color and 512 MB of VRAM (1 GB recommended)**
    OpenGL 2.0–capable system
Internet connection and registration are necessary for required software activation, membership validation, and access to online services.*
** 3D features are disabled and some Mercury Graphics Engine enhanced features may not work with less than 512 MB VRAM. Read the Help article.
Bottom line, you don't have enough VRAM

  • HT1899 Can I install and run Windows XP on my MacBook Pro 13in. OS X 10.7.5?  If so, where can I buy it?

I'm planning to use my macbook pro to record music, but some of the programs I will be using are only compatible with Windows.  I was told that it was possible to install & run windows XP onto my macbook pro by using Bootcamp.  I just don't know how fullproof or problematic this might be, or if it has even been successfully attempted yet.  Please help!
    Thx, K

You can use XP with 10.7.x by installing XP when the Mac is operating from OS X 10.6.8. It can then be up graded to 10.7.x. Below I have reproduced the "Hatter " method instructions that I have used successfully. If your MBP cannot boot from and install 10.6.8 then it is a no go situation.
    Upgrade 10.6.8 to 10.7 or 10.8
Use a maintenance utility like Yasu or Cocktail to prepare existing internal Mac OSX  HDD.
Clone the internal Mac partition to an external HDD with SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner.
Restart from the cloned external HDD and select it as the startup volume via System Preferences / Startup Disk.
Install 10.7 or 10.8 on the cloned external HDD replacing 10.6.8 or 10.7.x.
Install 10.7.x or 10.8.x updates on the external HDD
Restart the updated 10.7.x or 10.8.x  external HDD and test and adjust the preferences if needed.
When satisfied, clone only  the 10.7.x or 10.8.x  external HDD back to the existing internal Mac HDD replacing 10.6.8 or 10.7.x  but don't include the recovery partition.
The Boot Camp partition will not be altered as to drive id which appeared to cause problems for a few people.
The recovery partition will be on the ext HDD and can be used for trouble shooting. A more convenient way to have the recovery/reinstallation environment is to create a Lion install USB thumb drive.
