Can I run these two display resolutions simultaneously?

My early 2009 Mac Mini (MB463LL/A) is currently driving a 24" Dell display through the Mini DVI port at a resolution of 1920 X 1200. I plan to extend the desktop with a 20" display running at its optimal resolution of 1600 X 1200.
I'm a little confused by the specs, however, which state that the Mac Mini "simultaneously supports up to 1920 by 1200 pixels on a DVI or VGA display… and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on a dual-link DVI display using MiniDisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter…"
I understand about the adapters. What's unclear to me is whether these specifications refer to the total resolution split between two displays or the max resolution per display.
In other words, I'd like to run my 24" display at 1920 X 1200 and 20" display at 1600 X 1200 simultaneously. Can I?
Thanks.

Yes. The specs are for each physical port individually.

You should be able to start both databases if you did the cloning correctly.
EM use RMAN duplicate to clone database. It's basically created a AUXILIARY database and duplicate target database into it.
You must enter destination global name and instance name before proceed. What's instance name you entered?
set your ORACLE_SID to that instance name and login.

When you say that there is an issue creating the channels, are you getting a specific error message when running your code? Also are you referencing the same set of channels for the two DAQ task you are configuring?

Not that I know. S&T pricing only applies to verified institutions. Could well be that you may need to fill out a paper with whatever governmental authority is responsible on the planet you live, but otherwise you're just a private business like any other and would most likely deduct the expenses from your tax bill...

  • New 2015 MacBook Pro 13 Iris 6100 - can it run single 5k display?

Hello.  I'm thinking about buying the new 2015 MacBook Pro 13-in with Retina Display with the new Intel Iris 6100 and pairing it with a Dell UP2715K 5k monitor to run 2560x1440 in retina mode.
The specs on the Apple.com website for the new MacBook say the following:
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 3840 by 2160 pixels on up to two external displays, both at millions of colors.
Although there's no mention of 5120 by 2880 support it can successfully run two 4k monitors simultaneously, which I would think is more demanding than a single 5k monitor.
    Can anyone offer any insight?
    Thank you.

Allright, it took me some time to figure out why the write and read speeds were lagging compared to numerous speed tests of rMBP 13" of same year and build.
During the setup process, when starting up your new rMBP the first time, you'll be asked whether you want to activate FileVault. I activated it.
As soon as you turn off FileVault and restart your mac and do the speedtest again, it should give better results. As shown in the screenshot you can see that my write and read speeds are now on par with the other speedtests on the internet. Both 1080p50 and 1080p59.94 formats at 12 Bit RGB are now checked.
Turning off FileVault solved this issue.
P.S. the whole thing about the NVMExpress only applies to the early 2015 12" MacBook. http://www.macrumors.com/2015/04/11/nvme-mac-os-x/

  • Can I run Radeon 4870 + GeForce 120 simultaneously

What seems like a pretty obvious question is one I can't find answered on the web.
I just ordered a Mac Pro with GeForce 120 as standard, and I also ordered a Radeon 4870 to install in it.
I'll put the radeon in the main slot and move the geforce into the 2nd slot.
Can I do this? Will both cards operate and allow desktop spanning etc?
Also, will the colour reproduction be the same across both screens? I will be running 2 x 24" LED displays.
    Thanks in advance.
    Scott

Wouldn't it be better to connect one to each card, therefore giving 512MB of RAM to each screen, rather than splitting the 512MB of one card amongst two screens?
The VRAM may be better utilized with two cards and two displays, but unlike Crossfire or SLI, you will not get the combined processing power of the two cards.
Many applications won't benefit at all from two layers of VRAM.
You will, in fact, be rendering all graphics with one card, with that card then passing the information onto the second card.
The VRAM on the primary card, as well as the GPU, are still going to be working as if two displays were connected to it.
What would cause a hit in performance?
    In all practicality, Yes.
What all this means, in reality, is higher latency on the PCI bus while passing graphics from one card to the other, without any gains in processing from the second card.
In a dual display/dual card setup, this means one may actually lose performance as opposed to two monitors on a single card.
In a three monitor setup, well, these issues become moot out of necessity for additional display ports.
And to reiterate what Malcolm said, some applications may actually have trouble with dual card setups.
FCP is one known to have issues.

  • [SOLVED] Can't set X server display resolution

    Hello all,
I'm trying to set X Server display resolution to my monitor native 1366x768. I'm running Arch in a VMWare virtual machine. I have installed xf86-video-vmware drivers.
Here's the contents of my 10-monitor.conf file
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    DisplaySize 410 230
    EndSection
    Section "Device"

    EndSection
And here's the log file where the resolutions get rejected:

Ok. Finally it's working. This is why I love Arch. It forces me to learn.
    The solution:
    Step 1.
I followed the instructions in X.Org Wiki about obtaining modelines. Sadly, the log file didn't produce anything (probably because I was using the vesa vbe driver). But I followed the next option and got the modeline from Windows tool, Powerstrip.
    "1366x768" 85.476 1366 1436 1579 1792 768 771 774 798 -hsync +vsync
    Step 2.
Went to the web and fetched all the technical information about this monitor (a Acer X193HQ, that I use as my third monitor). I wanted hsync and vsync ranges, and display size in mm.
    Step 3.
Edited my configuration file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-monitor.conf) making sure to comment out the last part of the modeline, since I was going to manually add the hsync and vsync ranges.
    Section "Monitor"
    Identifier "Monitor0"
    DisplaySize 410 230
    HorizSync 30-80
    VertRefresh 55-60
    ModelName "X193HQ"
    Option "DPMS"
    VendorName "Acer"
    ModeLine "1366x768" 85.476 1366 1436 1579 1792 768 771 774 798 # -hsync +vsync
    EndSection
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Device0"
    Driver "vesa"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Device0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    DefaultDepth 16
    SubSection "Display"
    Depth 16
    Modes "1366x768"
    EndSubSection
    EndSection
    Step 4.
Success! X is started in 1366x768 with the vesa drivers with a 60Hz refresh rate.
    Final thoughts
    - With the vmware display drivers (xf86-driver-vmware) I don't get ideal results. For some reason it starts in 1368x768 (yes, 1368!). However xrandr reveals it supports 1366x768, and once I xrandr --size into it, all is fine. Dunno why this happens.
    - It only works in 16 bit depth. 24 or 32 corrupt the screen. I don't know exactly why either. But for the use I plan to give the X server, 16 bit is fine.

  • Can I run an external display off the new LaCie 2Big Thunderbolt.

I currently run FCP 7 on a brand new MacBook Pro. I use the Thunderbolt port into a Thunderbolt to VGA adapter (third party) to run an external Asis 27" display. It all works quite well. But...
Right now I use a LaCie d2 Firewire 800 external HD as my scratch but would like to upgrade to the new LaCie 2Big Thunderbolt. I want to then run my external display (still using the adapter) off the second Thunderbolt port on the 2Big. Is this possible? My local Apple authorized store was very sceptical although they had never tested it, in fact, they haven't even sold a 2Big yet.
Has anyone done this? Am I going in the right direction. I don't want to pop for the 2Big (+$500) and find out the setup can't be done.
    Thanks

Yes, I've demo'd this a lot.  Thunderbolt out of a computer, to the drive, looped to a monitor.  AND!!  Thunderbolt to an AJA IoXT for broadcast monitoring, back out to the drive, then the drive to a computer display.
Boggles the mind, but it works

  • Demantra - can it run with two Data Models in parallel?

    Hello,
we face the following situation: we have items that have to planned on a daily basis; many other items, however, only need weekly planning.
Demantra only allows one base time unit in its data model. If we choose "daily" for all products, the system size will increase enormously.
If we choose "weekly" for all products, we can not plan our daily products for specific days in the week.
The idea is now to set up a Demantra System with two data models in parallel. Is this possible? Would they reside in different databases or database users?
The Business Modeller allows to create new models, but can they run in parallel? If they can, how would the user access the different data models?
Thanks for any hints on this!

Can you please elaborate on this issue?
    Thanks

    Hello,

    On the back of the docking station  there is of a VGA and a DVI  connection;
When I connect two monitors to the docking, it displays the same screen. The laptop is not recognizing the second screen, so I can extend it in order to receive two different screens.  Can anyone advise?

download the Omega Catalyst ATI driver, it should allow you to control the display setting a bit better. You should able to use the software to control the extended display property.
