Hi,
Can i save a vector with gradient mesh as isolated .PNG?
It has some effects, so if i'm taking it out from the blue background it becomes darker.
Any advice? I need it isolated png for using it in an iOS app.

I am using Illustrator CS6, on Mac.
I can't copy and paste the "cloud" into a new document to save it, because it looses the effect of those filters (since the background is no longer behind it).
Sorry if im not explaining it right, i'm a beginner in illustrator. Can i group both the "cloud" and the blue background, to get just one shape: the realistic white cloud?
P.S: i can make a link with the .esp file of the clouds, if it helps.

Let's say I am controlling a Logic instrument with MIDI and CC data sent from MaxMSP. I have created a composition and would now like to make another one, with new assignments of controllers, in a new project. Is it possible to save the first piece's c.a. with it's project, so that I can switch between projects and have the controller assignments switch accordingly? Is that something that's become possible in Logic X with Smart Control or another workaround?

With standard instruments you can cable transformers before the objects translating incoming cc's to "fader" events.
With the new plug-ins they've hacked into Logic (ultrabeat, sculpture) this isn't possible, so your stuck with the "controller assignments" window which to me seems to be aimed at dedicated control surfaces and autoloads. My experiences with the controller assignments window aren't good, as i've found it drops incoming messages quite often.
Knowing how to do this(controller assignments per song) would give me a reason to open the controller assignments window again..Pretty useless to me otherwise.

Yes, it started with a new file. Support gave me the solution to save it to my desktop which worked. When I put it back in the original folder and opened/save it would not save to that folder. Created a new folder and was able to open & save to the new folder. That seems to be a workable solution. How a folder can become corrupt is a bit scarey.
In experimenting with solutions I received another error "failure in background task alert" and discovered CS5 problems with background task.
However the solutions for CS5 did not work in my incidence.
I sure would like to prevent this from happening again. If you have any insights please share them. Otherwise I will just accept the experience as another computer workaround and be thankful that I have it.

Need help with Gradient Mesh

So I am trying to make a gradient mesh of the shape shown here...
But when I apply gradient mesh to it, I get a very unworkable result (as shown below) ...any suggestions on how I can make this?

This is a rectangle converted to a 2-row, 2-column gradient mesh and reshaped. Only nine points to deal with.

Reflectivity with Gradient Mesh ?

I want to know how to create glass using the gradient mesh tool. I want glass that is reflective with transparency, I don't want the transparency to show the object below or that would kill the effect, gradients work but I want quasi-realism unless gradients are my only option in that case, I know my answer

Transparency, by definition, shows the object below.
Are you just saying you want to draw a scene that contains a glass object which appears to be transparent in the scene, but that doesn't actually use any AI "transparency" feature--in the sense that you can convincingly paint a wine glass using opaque oil paints?

Drawing glass is like drawing anything else: just draw what you see. When you look at a glass, you don't see glass; you just see highlights, shadows, reflections, and distortions (if the glass is curved) and perhaps a slight tinting of whatever is behind the glass. So just draw the highlights, shadows, reflections, distortions, and tints that you see.
Which tool you use is mostly immaterial, but Mesh Grads are in general unwieldy and tedious. Glass reflections and highlights are very often sharp-edged along at least one side. You can accomplish sharp edges with Mesh Grads, but their claim to fame is primarily multi-directional grads, which regular linear and radial grads can't do.

I want to save a Folder with pictures in it, that I created from the iPhone.. these photos (and videos) are available only in this folder and I don't want to loose them at all!
Whatever, how can I save this folders on my mac? and/or PC? And I don't mean the camera roll folder! Just this folder that I created on the iPhone.

Not supported by Apple. The only photos that can be imported from an iPhone are photos in the camera roll.

[SOLVED]Can't save a file with tex extension using vim

Hello there people,i decided to learn LATEX but vi won't let me save my files with the tex extension.It says:
"test.tex" E212: Can't open file for writing
Does anyone know why vim is denying to save it with this extension?Please help!

I just noticed that when i'm in /home/sepuku i'm able to save the files normally.But i created a directory specially for latex!
So when i cd /home/sepuku/latexprojects i can't save anything.I think that this has something to do with the permissions maybe?And how to i make my user able to copy/paste/remove /edit/create files and dirs? :S
ls -al test.tex returns:

Can you save print settings with a PDF?

I have an 8.5"x14" PDF. Is there anyway to save default print settings with this PDF so if a user opens it on their machine it defaults to printing to 8.5"x14" paper? Right now it always defaults to the standard 8.5"x11". I'm not sure this can be done because it seems like more of a specific users machine thing. I don't think you can save print settings with a PDF can you?

The "auto-formatting" of a hardcopy print format is generally the realm of the output device, in this case the printer. Printer software gereally includes an auto-format feature that selects the proper bin. For those who only have a "letter" tray, it usually asks to feed the right format manually, or switch trays. This is not a PDF feature but an output device feature.

I need a vector smart logo that is on a PSD layer as a vector file in illustrator so I can plot cut on a vinyl cutter. How can I make sure the logo transfers as .ai at the exact size showen in the Photoshop document? I remember doiing this a few years ago but forgot the proceedure. It's probably a very easy step and once I have the answer I'll say "oh that's right I remember now" The export path to Ilustrator only gives me the saved paths in this document.

Smooth Curves with Gradient Mesh???

Hi everyone! For a school project I was to render an everyday object and I chose a pepper. I created the pepper with the mesh tool and also rendered it with the gradient mesh, now my instructor says that I need to have really smoothe curves but I have way too many anchor points so I don't know how to fix the curves. He said I might have to restart but please someone help me. I don't want to redo the whole thing.

You don't actually need to redo it in order to reduce the number of grid lines. With the gradient mesh tool it's possible to delete them.
Although I wouldn't consider this "way" too many. But you've got a problem with the dark spots in the upper right corner. It's too small to see the details there, but it looks like the grid lines overlap each other. try and fix that and then check if the points at the border are colored euqally.

In addition to what Monika said, you can use Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S/Cmd+option+Shift+S to Save for Web, notice the Transparency option for PNG and GIF and the Art/Text Optimize option in the Image Size window.
And the artwork is just as usable when created in the trial version.

Send the .muse file. If you've made a large number of unsaved changes, please send both the .muse file (if any) and the Recovery folder found in
Mac: "~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.3/Local Store" (copy and paste into the Go > Go To Folder dialog in the Finder)
Windows: "%appdata%/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.3/Local Store" (copy and paste into a file explorer window)
In both cases above, include everything between the quotes (including the tilde ~ on the Mac) in the copy/paste, but not the quotes themselves.

When I try to right click "Save As" on photos in my yahoo email, I only get the option of saving as a secure download firefox document. How can I save the photo as it is intended (jpeg, png) ?

If someone includes a photo in the email body message (I use yahoo), if I right click on the image to save it to my computer, I only get the option to save it as a firefox document - secure download. If I save it as such and then click on the link, it takes me to a page full of weird code.

If Firefox doesn't saves the image with a valid image file extension like .jpg or .png then you need to add that file extensions yourself. You can rename already saved images and change the file extension to get working images. Add quotes around the name while renaming ("image.jpg") if Windows hides the current file extension or refuses to change the name (i.e you get image.jpg.html).
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

* Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
