Can I save all open windows, and reload them later?

Hi,
I work on different projects using different applications.
Say I am working on recording, and editing an audio. I have Quicktime open, finder(showing files) and GarageBand. Is there anyway I can save the current open windows, so at a later date I can just resume where I left off, rather then having to reopen the finder window, and the applications. It's almost liek I want a snapshot of what's open.
Is there a 3rd party program that does this?
Thanks.

Thanks for the answer, but I would really like to close the apps. I may not return to the project for weeks. That's why I would love if a program could save the current open apps, so when I return to my project. I run this program and boom all of my Finders, and applications are restored the way I left them. It saves me time.

  • Find all open windows and close them

    Hi,
    I'm writing an application that creates a new thread. This thread loads an other application from the filesystem and invokes the main method.
    When the thread loads an application that opens a frame, my application can stop the thread, but the frame stays open.
    Is there a way that my application can detect if the thread has opened a frame and if there are opened frames that it can close them?

    Well, tht's an idea, but my problem is, that my thread can start any aplication by invoking it's main-method.
    That means that even my Thread doesn't know which and how many frames it has opened or at least I don't know how I could get a list of all openened frames :-(
    A little bit code:
    /*Class classToRun is given to the Thread at it's initalisation and already loaded
    by a custom ClassLoader, that loads any .class file from a given location*/
    classToRun.getMethod("main", new Class[]{String[].class}).invoke(null, new String[]);

  • Is it possible to select multiple files on the W8.1U1's SEARCH RESULTS window page? For instance, if 10 CPP files are found by the seraching mechanism, can I select all 10 files and have them open in Visual Studio at once?

    TIA.

    Brandon, this forum member is known since a long time ago an arrogant (he thinks he knows more than every other) and stupid(*) (full of misconceptions). His first post is a very good example of what I just wrote. How does he dare to suggest to use File
    Explorer, if W8.1 already has a system built for doing just this search?  Do I have to open File Explorer in the folder (or somewhere near) the item I'm looking for? What about the other items in folders above it? This suggestion is stupid(*). He even
    asserts that I'm using Modern UI! I'm not! I'm using the desktop, but his misconceptions make him write such idiocies(*) with such arrogance: asserting what he doesn't know (arrogancy and stupidity). And more, this guy is no one to say he/he/he to me, because
    I know he is what you deleted from my posts, and more, he is often crying, moaning and snivelling like a spoiled child in this forum and messing up any thread posting stupid(*) images of programs imagined/designed/developed by others. All posts from him in
    this thread must be trashed (you should do it). He has nothing to contribute POSITIVELY in this thread, but just to MESS IT UP.
    (*) stupid, I can write, after all, you didn't delete this word from this ... poster.
    Now, look at the first reply: this forum member has no idea how much stupid is his 'work around'. And this 'work around' does not answer my question and even does address the environment I mentioned: W8.1 U1 search results window page, and not File Explorer!
    His second post just reassures me he has no idea what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. He even mentions Win-w(!) which proves he totally ignore what is the searching mechanism I'm talking about. A user like this one, must have many monitors to
    keep him busy looking at them, and having excuses for not read and learn technical documentation. It's ignorance about technical aspects of computer issues that makes him post bad bug report and a bad idea in Connect site:
    Using Get-Date -Format "CyM" to work around some bugs
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/884502/using-get-date-format-cym-to-work-around-some-bugs
    Only total ignorance about PowerShell makes someone post such bad 'bug' report. He got critics about his bad post, but I'm sure he doesn't understand.
    Column headers for alias should include DisplayName instead of just Name
    https://connect.microsoft.com/PowerShell/feedback/details/908152/column-headers-for-alias-should-include-displayname-instead-of-just-name
    In fact, the information displayed is already DisplayName, but this guy has no technical knowledge to understand what is happening.
    These 2 forum members just messed up a thread that should be free of negative contributions, besides off topic.

  • I need help identifying and removing annoying gadget that shows all open windows and applications when I mouse over a corner.

    It seemed like a good idea at the time. Some time ago I installed a gadget (doesn't seem to be an item in my Applications folder) which, when I mouse-over the lower-left corner of my screen, brings up a screen showing reduced-size versions of all open application windows and Finder windows. I've tried to identify what it is, and where it is located, so I can remove it, but to no avail.
    I'd really appreciate any help getting rid of this thing. Thanks!

  • Can't save-All-relative files and don't see check_cs5.css under tab index.html

    after closing check_cs5.css in the second tutorial I was suppose to get two tabs (source and check_cs5.css) which I could click on (underneath the index.html document tab). I don't see these. I can't get both the Design window AND the check_CS5.css code window. I only get the code for index.html and the design window. For some reason when I was suppose to save "all-relative-files" ... that was grayed out so I "saved ALL". I don't know why that was but it probably had something to do with the problem I just mentioned. This occurred near the end of tutorial 2 of the beginner tutorial.

  • When closing session, how to save all open windows , so will re-open next time logon ?

    In the older version of Firefox at the point I was closing my browsing session , I had aPopup Window say "You are about to close eg. 10 Windows , do you wish to save and re-open next session ? "I was able to have that option saving my last browsing session - to open next occasion ... in Firefox 4 - How can I have that same option ??

    Firefox 4 saves the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
    You can use "Firefox > History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
    There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:
    * [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Menu_differences Firefox (Tools) > Options] > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts": "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Why, suddenly, does Firefox decline to save all open windows before quitting?

    One of the best aspects of Firefox is that you can close your browser and Firefox will--or used to--remember all open tabs. Now my only option is open, or close and lose all tabs. Why?

    I agree with mrpoizun. I liked everything about Firefox before 4.
    This automatic saving of sessions has one big flaw! When opening FF, it shows a blank screen (simply because my innitial preference is to start on blank). If I should change my mind or accidentaly close this, the blank is saved, or rather the previous session is deleted. The Restore option is disabled.
    I request that "Save & Quit" be restored!
    Hm. Wonder if there is anything in my browsing habbits that requires FF4? If not, then I'll just try to find an earlier installation file.

  • Q: How do you sync all open windows and tabs?

    How do you sync all windows and tabs? And if this is not possible, how do you nominate which Windows' tabs are sync'd?
    Sincerely,
    Adam

    You don't have a hot-corner for that anymore.
    You use a gesture for that now. You can either 4-finger swipe down, or place the tips of your fingers in the center of your track pad.  Your fingers should be bunched up and touching each other.  To show all windows, expand your fingers, as if you were showing someone "5" on your fingers.

  • Solution: Saving All The Tabs And Reloading Them Anywhere (From Archived Thread)

    Hi,
    My problem "was" that I was working on Firefox at my home and at my office. As computers are fast these days, I am in habit of opening large number of tabs in firefox. And I always wanted to open the same tabs at my office which I was opening at my home and vice versa. I further wanted to clean the browsing history after leaving the computer at my work as well as home.
    While searching through the forums, I reached to this thread:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/960096
    And to my satisfaction, the exact answer was not there.
    Anyways, doing a little more search, I found why I will never stop loving Firefox and its because of its wonderful "addons".
    So here I re-write the problem,
    '''I want to save the addresses of different tabs opened in my Firefox and save them to a file that can be re-opened by Firefox on the same computer or on a different computer with the option to clean the browser history after leaving the computer.'''
    Solution: "Session Manager Addon" of firefox.
    Steps to the solution:
    1. Download and install a firefox addon called "session manager".
    URL: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/session-manager/
    2. After installing this addon, go to Firefox -> Sesion Manager -> Session Manager -> Session Manager Options. (or to Tools -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Session Manager Options)
    Go to "Advanced" tab.
    Now change the default location for saving the session. Say you name it to your desktop.
    Now, you have "Session Manager" addon installed, the default location of saving the session file is known to you (say your desktop).
    3. Now go to, "Firefox -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Save Session" and give your session a name under the option "Save the current session as". (or to "Tools -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Save Session")
    4. Suppose you give your session a name called "New Session". In your default location of saving the session (say your desktop), you will get a file named "New Session.session"
    5. Now this file is the key. It's a small file and you can simply email it to yourself or carry it to your work with you.
    6. Just place this file at same location on the different computer and repeat Steps 1 and 2.
    7. Now Session Manager is installed and configured on the other computer and the file has been copied to the desktop of this other computer.
    8. Go to Firefox -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Load Session (or to Tools -> Session Manager -> Session Manager -> Load Session) and the saved session will be loaded to the different computer by Firefox.
    Now, how this addon can help someone?
    1. It is extremely useful for people like me who are addicted to opening many many tabs at once and want to resume working from the same set of tabs whether they are at home, office or some other place.
    2. Suppose, you are surfing some personal sites that you do not want other people to know and you can't bookmark those sites. You are on a different computer, say at your office and want to clean the browsing history too.
    The best option in such cases is to save the session completely and re-load it on a different computer.
    I personally found "Session Manager" addon better than "copy urls expert".
    '''The only improvement I would like to see is that Firefox itself should allow multiple tabs to saved to a file that can be opened by Firefox just like we open a saved HTML page.'''
    And thanks to '''Michael Kraft''' for creating this wonderful addon... Really liked and I hope my post help others.
    thanks

    Hi vipinkr3,
    Thank you for contacting support. I am happy to hear that you have enjoyed the add on Session Manager. I highly recommend leaving a review on the add on page for this add on.
    Thank you, we appreciate your feedback.

  • HELP:script that iterates through all opened documents and rezise them to match the biggest one.

    Hi,
    I'm making a batch processing action and I really need a script that iterates through all open documents, finds the one with the biggest image size and then iterates one more time to change the rest of the documents to the same image size dimensions. At the end all documents must share identical image size.  I'll really  appreciate if someone can put a quick script for doing this. Thank you !

    I think should do…
    #target photoshop
    if (documents.length > 1) {
         var smallest = 1000000; // Set beyond any size you may be expecting this should do?
         for (var a = 0; a < documents.length; a++) {
              smallest = Math.min(smallest,documents[a].width.as('px'));
         for (var b = 0; b < documents.length; b++) {
              if (documents[b].width.as('px') != smallest) {
                   app.activeDocument = documents[b];
                   var newWidth = new UnitValue(smallest, 'px');
                   documents[b].resizeImage(newWidth,undefined,undefined,ResampleMethod.BICUBICSMOOTHER);
    }else{
         alert("NOT enough docs to resize?");

  • Need help: How to key in input array, save in a buffer, and extract them later?

    Hi, I need help. I have several groups of data for input, and need to use them later in the same or different code. When I key in the input data, the code will ask the number of data group first, then in each group, there will be 6 data to key in, each has a specific variable name. The number of group and the data for each group will vary at each time running the code. The data group needs to be numbered sequently. After having all groups of data, these data will be sent to another sub VI to read. This sub VI needs to know each group number and each data of a group.
    I think I should create a 2-D array to read these data in a do loop, but I can't let my do loop read data in each time. Then when I sent the data out, the next sub VI was confused by the sequence of the data group and the sequence of data in each group. Can someone help me or give me some example how to do it? Thank you very much for your help.

    From what I understand of your explanation, an event structure might be
    the way to go (LV 6+ I think).  Events could be based off of
    keypresses in a particular control (a 2D array like you mentioned), and
    once input in that particular field is complete, the user presses say
    the 'enter' key, and you can use the "VKey" of the event data node to
    determine which key is pressed (i.e. VKey = enter?).  From there,
    you would continue to the next portion of data entry or processing of
    entered information.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I save a named filter and sorting for later use?

    I regularly do several different complex filtering and sorting on large tables. I did not find a way to save them for later one-click reuse. So I always have to do it again, which is time-consuming and error-prone. Hoped to get a solution by AppleScript, but filter and sort is not accessible by scripting.
    Is there a way or does Apple have it on it´s agenda for future versions of Numbers?

    Hi Jan,
    filter and sort is not accessible by scripting.
    There is some support for sort (and less for filter) in Numbers 3.
    Table has a filtered property.
    And you can sort.
    A sort example can be found at https://iworkautomation.com/numbers/table-sort.html.
    Not sure if this will be sufficient to handle your needs, but just wanted to point out there is some scripting support.
