Can I save MS Office documents on iCloud?

Can I save MS Office documents on iCloud?  If so, how?

What is your Mac OS X version?  If you have Yosemite on all Macs and iOS 8.1.2 on all mobile devices and upgraded to iCloud Drive,  you can store any type of document in iCloud on iCloud Drive and keep it up to date on all devices.  Simply create a folder for your MS documents on iCloud Drive and drag the documents over.  See:  iCloud Drive FAQ
With Mac OS X 10.9 or earlier, try Winston Churchill's User Tip:

You can't directly, as Microsoft don't include iCloud support in their apps.
You'd have to open your Word file in Apple's Pages and save it to iCloud from there.

  • Microsoft Office Documents in iCloud CAN Be Done...

    Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience as I've seen threads saying it can't be done and a lot of people confused as to, why not? Here's my method of working so hopefully everyone can enjoy this feature like I am. The image below IS a Word document but it's for my solicitor so has personal info on it.
    Just list a few specs I'm using as the system layout might be different to yours;
    OS X Mavericks 10.9.3
    Microsoft Office 2008 for Mac
    MacBook Pro Mid 2009 model
    Step 1: Test Document
Go to Applications and open up 'TextEdit' and click the bottom left hand corner which states 'New Document' and type whatever you want, maybe 'test text'. Go to save and choose a name to save the document under BUT in the field where it says 'Where' choose iCloud... There's a method to my working.
Step 2: Finding the 'Hidden' Library folder in Finder and Mobile Documents
Click 'Finder' and at the top menu bar find 'Go' and click that, with your finger on the options key simultaneously (my keyboard states 'alt' and has the squiggle for Options) then you should see Library pop up, click that. A whole new 'screen' should pop up and scroll down until you find 'Mobile Documents'. Open it up and this is where ALL the iCloud content is saved so don't try and delete or change too much in here if you can help it. Go to the 'com~apple~TextEdit' folder and you should see your STEP 1 test document in there... So, we know it works now? Keep this open for the time being so you don't have to route through again...
Step 3: Putting Microsoft Office Documents in iCloud
Choose what WORD (Pages), EXCEL (Numbers) or POWERPOINT (Keynote) document you want to save in iCloud and open that document up as normal (so in Microsoft Office). Click SAVE AS and here's a pictured example below, save the document as .docx and save. You'll now have TWO of the same documents I have one which is compatible with Mac & Windows but the second is JUST for Mac (I believe) and this .docx is the one you'll need for iCloud.
Step 4: Putting the Word or Document into iCloud
Go back to your Finder window which has the Mobile Documents but then go to File > New Finder Window (So you have them side by side like the picture) > Locate your .docx Saved document and all you need to do is drag that file to the area you want it to go. So, if it's a 'Word' document you'll want to go to Pages as its equivalent. Open up the com~apple~Pages folder and you'll get two other folders and open the one on the left and drag the file into there.
Step 5: Check it's actually in iCloud...
    Go to, www.icloud.com
Sign in with your ID etc. and it'll be in there... If you have Pages etc. on your iPhone or iPad... i believe it'll be in there but I haven't got these on my iPhone or iPad. let me know how you do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can share some word documents with pages on your iOS devices.
If you want to upload documents that aren't for use with iOS devices this User Tip might be of interest.

how can i store ms office files in iCloud?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
To store Office files on iCloud, you need Numbers, Keynote or Pages, depending of the files you want to upload (Word, PowerPoint or Excel).
First, if you haven't done it, open App Store and purchase Keynote, Numbers and/or Pages. Then, if you have OS X Mountain Lion, when you open the app, you will see an iCloud window where you can drag your Office documents to be uploaded to iCloud.
If you don't have OS X Mountain Lion, open http://www.icloud.com, login with your Apple ID, select iWork and drag your Office documents

i have just downloaded the latest update for Pages on my iPad and now it can no longer open up documents in iCloud and then just shuts down. What The.

Before the reset quit Pages like this:
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app.

  • HT2693 how can i save my pages document as a PDF file or jpeg now?

    Hi...
How can i save my pages document as a PDF file or Jpeg file now that the share is NA.

In Pages, go to File > Export > Word, so the document will be saved in .doc to be able to use it in Word

  • How can I save iTunes videos in my icloud?

Hi how can i Save iTunes videos in my icloud?

You can't save your iTunes films and/or TV programmes in the cloud, whether they will show in the cloud for redownloading in the Purchased tab in the iTunes app depends upon what country that you are in (they can't be redownloaded in all countries) and whether they remain in your country's store (rights-holders occasionally remove their items).
You can copy your iTunes downloads to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases so that you can take a backup copy of them, and not have to rely on being able to redownload them from the store.

  • How can you save a pages document so it can be opened in Microsoft Word

How can I save a pages document so it can be opened in a Windows (Word) program?

Word can't read .pages documents. You have to export the Pages  document to a Word document. File > export or share > Word
Download the Pages User Guide from your Pages Help menu to learn more about how Pages works.

  • How can I load my Microsoft Office documents to iCloud?

I just migrated from Mobile Me to iCloud.  How can I get the doucments I had on iDisk into iCloud.  They were mostly Microsoft Office docs.
Also in the future, if I create an Office doc, how do I get it on iCloud?

You can load some types of office documents to the iWork section at Icloud.com, however you will need the iOS versions of the iWork apps in order to do this.
I guess however that you are intending using iCloud as general storage as you would have done on your iDisk. Unfortunately iCloud offers no alternative to MobileMe's iDisk, you should consider a third-party alternative such as dropbox or sugarsync.
I also note that your profile states you are using OS X 10.6.2, if that is correct are you aware that you need lion (10.7.2 or better) in order to use iCloud .

  • How can I save a pages document with a new name

I often make changes to pages and numbers documents and save them with a new name. This seems to be impossible under LION. To remove the save as command is very shortsited. The only way I found to get around that is to save the changed document as a templete, remove the changes I made to the original document, Open a new document using the templete I just created, saving that document under the name I would have created using the save as command if it was still there, and then delete the templete. How in the **** is this better? Lion has disrupted almost everything I used to do in Snow Leopard.
The only thing that syncs with mobile me is email. Everything else quit working. I reported the mobile me issue to Apple and am waiting for them to contact me.

I think the issue is easy:
1.- Try to go to the File Menu
2.- Then hold down the Option Key
3.- You will see in the File Menu (while you press the option key) the "save as" option.
4.- Choose the "save as" option.
5.- Choose the file where you want to save your document (you can choose any folder or sub foler in your mac or even iCloud). If you want to, you can even rename the open document where you are working in.
    I hope this would help

  • How can I save a scanned document in pages app on my ipad? Thanks

ALso would anyone know how to rename a document in iCloud?

    Hello Yvonne.
Specialized OCR software may be needed in order to save files directly to Microsoft Word format.  Our software does not have this capability.
If you are attempting to scan a basic, text-only document.  You can use our IJ Scan Utility to scan and make adjustments.
     1.  Start, point to (All) Programs, Canon Utilities and then open the Canon IJ Scan Utility.
     2.  Click 'Settings' on the lower right corner.
     3.  Click 'Document Scan' on the left.
     4.  Under 'Application Settings' on the right, select 'Start (OCR)' and choose 'Canon My Image Garden' in the menu.
     5.  Click OK.
     6.  In the IJ Scan Utility, click 'Document'.
When scanning is completed, Notepad will open and you will be able to edit and save your document.

  • How can we move our existing documents into iCloud?

So far I've been presented with the option to save files into iCloud (textedit and the like). How can we take our existing documents (Word, Excel, TXT, PDF, etc) and store them in iCloud as well? Short of individually opening each one and saving in iCloud...

iCloud is not intended for general file storage. (It is not iDisk.) It's also not organized the same way. Each application is responsible for interfacing with its own documents in iCloud; Word and Excel do not have the function encoded.
