Can I save my library content? Such as ratings, song plays, dates, etc...

I need to un- then reinstall iTunes because I keep getting an error message when trying to update. The error message says something along the lines of "A program did not run as part of the setup. Contact support..." So following, the sites run-thru I'm gonna try to un- and reinstall but I wanna keep all my info that I've built up over the years such as song plays, the dates added, all my ratings and playlists and all that. Any thoughts?

becuz I have all my music files, I just do not want to lose my song statistics. does that make sense?
Also, I cant just move the folder becuz i have to start completely fresh, no old files, im trying to update it, but the installer errors and can not complete it

Hard drive packed up, but had Time Machine backup. I installed new ssd and upgraded to Mountain Lion, but I can't find iPhoto library and photos or iTunes songs? Is there an answer to this?  A backup run did not install either photos or songs. Graham

Thanks so much but none of that helped.  It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive.  I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!
Thank you for your help and replying to this.  Guess I made my own issue!

I can see the itunes library on apple tv but songs will not play, this happens after 2 songs play

Finally achieved my fix by changing channels on my Billlion router to 11, and not letting the ATV sleep.  Give it a try, I spent a good four frustrating weeks until I did this.

I just recently got a MacBook and I'd like to transfer my iTunes library as well as the playlists and song plays over to this computer and i was wondering how i should go about doing so.
I've found a few tutorials on how to edit the .xml files but I haven't really succeeded in doing so.

  • Can't save iTunes library file

    hi
all of a sudden i've started continuously getting an error message in iTunes 7.6.2.9 saying 'the itunes library file cannot be saved. you do not have enough access priviledges for this operation.'
i haven't changed anything on itunes or my computer settings recently.
    please can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Zoe

My main computer is a WinXP Home machine, and I had the same problem. iTunes wouldn't update play count, or save the changes I made to album art or genre. I solved it by uninstalling MediaMonkey. I think MediaMonkey was interfering with iTunes updating my files. Perhaps you have a program that tries to monitor changes to your library and prevents any other program from making changes to files within that library. Hope it helps. Good luck

  • I'm trying to add pictures to my ripped movies in my library but it keeps telling me it can't save the library because there's not enough memory. There is plenty on my hard drive, is there a setting that lets you increase the amount of memory?

I get a window popping up that says "The library iTunes file cannot be saved. There is not enough memory available.".  I have 980GB free, I don't understand how to change a setting or what ever is causing it.

    Hello Wyodor,
thanks for your reply on my question.
You are wright the index file is 308 KB.
And offcourse that I delete my files and documents is not an Iweb problem, but because my English is not that good, that I thougt I try to tell the whole story, and hope people can read trough the lines.
Why I didn't use Iweb to upload to the server is because the server company recommanded to use file zilla. And I am a nobody with this kind of things, so I did exactly what they tell me to do.
No, i did not make a backup of Iweb and the domain file, but reading other messages on this forum showed me that I can maybe try to make empty the cashfile (?)
and otherwise I have bad luck and have to make my website again. Offcourse I have a lot of examples from all the pages (copied from the local map to my USB stick) and my website is aprox. 15 Mb, (not so big) so it will cost me a few nigths.
But I'm still hoping on a miracle :-)
    greetings Lasource

  • Can't save iTunes library error (-50) (Windows 7)

    Hello, everyone!
I need to transfer my iTunes library from PC to Mac, unfortunately i can't copy&paste folders from iTunesMedia because my music allocates in different folders on my drive. I tried " File -> Library -> Organise Library -> Consolidate files ", it had copied only half of my music when error (-50) appeared. I checked .TMP files in Downloads, but there is no any and all downloads complete (Store->Check for available downloads). Firewalls, browsers and antivirus are closed.
Can anyone suggest the way to fix "error(-50)" problem, please? or different way to transfer my library to Mac...
    Thank you for looking.

I don't have an solution for you, but thought I'd tell you that a -54 is a permissions error.

  • Can't save swatch library in ID 5.5

    Hi,
I've just spent a half hour creating a new swatch palette of our company colors. I want to save them all out as a swatch library file. But, the "save as" pulldown choice is grayed out. Why? I know I've used this function before.
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi again,
I've just tested it, and found that once you save your swatches from InDesign, you need to move the resulting ASE file to the Illustrator>Presets>Swatches folder, and then open Illustrator. Once there, go to Swatches Panel, and in the options pull-down, you'll now see your custom library in the list, without having to search for it. It doesn't behave quite the same as a swatch book file, but you'll easy access to it from the pull-down menu.
    Cheers!
    Mikey
Just checked again. And it indeed DOES open automatically, but you have to restart Illustrator first. If this works, then just check this message as solved.
    Cheers again!

  • Message:  can't save ipod library you don't have access

When I synch, I often get a message saying I don't have access privileges to save the iTunes library.
Why? and what does it mean?  How do I get rid of it?

Or it could be that the form was shared to you initially and the author removed you from the sharing list. I'm saying that because the author of the form is someone from your company but not under your name.

  • How can I force a library update without re-importing songs?

I have thousands of MP3s that are already imported into iTunes (v5.0.1.4). Unfortunately my ID tags are far from complete and I use another software package to modify them on a regular basis. The problem is that iTunes does not recognize these changes (since I suppose it has already stored the info about the MP3 in its library during the initial import). I know I can remove the MP3 from the library and re-import it, but I really don't want to do so. Is there any other way of forcing a library update?

OK. I just want it to read the info from my iTunes folder
(Edit>Preferences>Advanced>iTunes Music Folder Location) and use that to update the *itl file. My current itl file is a backup from last week, but the iTunes music folder had several additions during the last few days
    However, after renaming and running:
    Script: C:\update.js
    Line: 11
    Char: 2
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
    Code: 800A01B6

  • Can't save library files

iTunes is giving me an error message that reads something like: "Can't save iTunes library file. An unknown error has occurred: -48."
What does this mean? What should I do? I had backed up my iTunes files this morning--copied them over to a portable HD; but I didn't change, move or alter the files.

I'm having this problem too. Did you ever get a solution?
