Can I scale text horizontally such as in Photoshop?

In Photoshop, you are given the option to scale text horizontally. This option is of particular importance to me because the text within my company logo is horizontally scaled to 50%. I have found the option for adjusting the leading of a text, but nothing so far on adjusting the horizontal scale of the text. Was this feature really left out or overlooked? When I use Photoshop to adjust the horizontal scale, then save the image and place it in Adobe Muse, the text becomes highly pixelated. I also don't understand this, because the image in Photoshop is at 300 ppi.

Open the text window and highlight the text you want to change.
Then use the tracking box to increase or decrease

  • I can't paste text from external sources into Photoshop CC 2014.

    Hello everyone,
Since a few days I'm not able to paste texts from external sources into Photoshop CC 2014.
I never have problems with Photoshop CC before.
I have the new iOS Yosemite installed in my macbook.
It's really frustrating, can someone help please?

I have basically the same setup, except on a Mac Mini. I am unable to reproduce your problem. Double check that you are copying the original text in the first place, and then make sure you are pasting into a text layer as you cannot paste into a regular Photoshop layer -- nothing will happen. Create a text layer by clicking on a regular layer with the text tool, the T in the tool box. The new layer will show up in the layers panel identified by the first line of the text.

  • Can't scale effects with image resize in Photoshop CC, why?

I'm trying to resize an image, size it down from the 600ppi I work in
to a preview 300ppi size. But I can't get any option to resize the layer
effects to work. In that little cog, in the top right, there is a menu
item Scale Effects, but it is always greyed out and unselectable.
I've tried just scaling it in different ways, percentages, the actual
size rather then the ppi. No luck. Anyone know why?
I'm desperate to get this file (which has a tonne of layer comps in it) to print.
    Thanks!

Adobe hid the option in its new dialog making it inconvenient you have no idea of how it is currently set till you click on the gear to see the status of the check-mark.

  • Can you add text to pictures using adobe photoshop touch?

    Hi Kelsey98,
It is possible to create text over an image but Arial is not one of the fonts included with the app.

Cellular data is a feature from your phone carrier.  Have you contacted them to resolve your issue.

  • I have deleted everything off of my apple id account and i still can't get text on my droid device.

I got rid of my Iphone and got a new s4.  Now that ios7 came out I can not get any texts from someone with ios7.  I have deleted the phone from the apple id and changed my email.  Still no texts.  I had my friends delete my info, but still nothing.  Their phones always try to send as imessage.  The only time I can get a text from them is if they decide to turn off imessage.  It is not possible to tell everyone to turn off imessage, so how do I fix my account to ios7 phones don't think i still have an iphone.
I know this has been a big problem and apple has been not fixed this known issue on a large scale, but i need to fix it for me and people i know.

Once you update your device to iOS7 it will not work with the older version of iTunes so it will not connect.
Is your contacts backed up to icloud? If so you can reset the phone and erase all content and restore information from icloud..

  • Can't find text in distilled file, using some fonts

The products I have are Mac OS 10.6.8, Acrobat X and 9, and Word 2011 and Apple Pages for Mac; Acrobat 9 and Word 2007 for Windows XP.
There are numerous ways to create PDFs on both platforms, whether through save as or creating a PostScript file and distilling it. The problem is that with docs I have using Calibri, Cambria, and Candara, if I distill a PostScript file made from Mac Word or Pages, neither Acrobat nor Apple Preview can find text in the resulting PDF, whether the file distilled with Mac or Windows Distiller. (Meaning a "find" for a string comes up as not found.)  All other combinations are okay, even writing a PS file in Windows Word and distilling with Mac Distiller.
I mention the fonts specifically because most of the time I use OTF faces, which always work. I even tried using the Windows TTF versions in the Mac operating system -- same failure.
And even if I force these fonts to be embedded in the Distiller job options, still no joy. If I take so much as a comma and set it to an OTF, I can find the comma. Also, Acrobat *can* find Arial text in a Visio flowchart placed in the Word doc. I don't know how the author placed it there, but it's probably copy from Visio, paste into Word.
The reason why I care about this is because the distilled PFDs are just a tiny bit better looking on the screen than other options, such as "Save as PDF" from the Mac OS Print dialogue. The only other one that looks as good is the Create PDF button in Windows Word, but I would rather not have to use Windows just to get a better-looking PDF.
    So to summarize:
Mac app > write PS file > Mac Distiller = fail
Mac app > write PS file > Win Distiller  = fail
Win app > write PS file > Mac Distiller  = okay
Win app > write PS file > Win Distiller  = okay
Mac app > save as PDF directly > okay
This might not be a problem with Distiller per se; it could be the Mac OS engine that creates the PS files. You see, I had heard that Apple used their own internally developed engine for the options to save PDF files directly, but was using Adobe code when one used the option to write a PostScript file, so that's why I'm so surprised and disappointed it fails.

Hmmm. In what way are Distilled PDFs "a tiny bit better looking on screen" than those made by OS X?
You are viewing both in the same app and platform?
And you're referring to font display?
What settings are you using in Distiller which you think might have some bearing on this?

OS X's native graphics drawing environment, Quartz, is essentially a "Display PDF", so creating a PDF file is a very simple procedure.
Writing PostScript for printing uses Apple's own cgpdftops CUPS filter. I doubt there is any "Adobe code" as such, and I dispute the implication that "Apple code == bad; Adobe code == good", which you seem to suggest.
The specifications for PDF and PostScript are clearly documented, and it should be easy for anyone to follow them.
However, the fact remains that when Apple converts these MS fonts to PS, something goes wrong. It may be a bug in Apple's code; or it may be that Apple it strictly interpreting font data which MS is playing fast and loose with. Windows' own PS export would no doubt be designed to work with the looser implementation in MS's fonts. This is just hypothetical of course, though is in keeping with tradition.
What you could do is use a decent text editor like TextWrangler (free from BareBones software) to compare the PostScript code from Windows and OS X.
You could also look a the Properties tab in Acrobat of the PDFs, and compare the font encoding.
You could also test running out PostScript from any other app on OS X that you have using those fonts.
However, I think it is unlikely that you will see resolution unless MS releases a new version of their fonts, or some new version of OS X makes an amendment to fix the bug or cater for the MS issue. Perhaps Lion will do this; perhaps it won't.
Are you using the versions of these fonts that came with Office 2011 for Mac? What happens if you use the Windows versions of the fonts on OS X?

  • Column Headers - Can't Change Text Orientation

In Excel I am able to change the column header row text orientation so that I can have long text headers for both my rows and columns. With pages, my text can only be horizontal, which make a spread sheet with long column names very wide, even though the data in each cel is perhaps one or two digits.
The only solution I have found is placing a text box over the top of the column header cel for each column, but doing this makes it impossible to use the text from the column header in a calculation or in an export or merge of any kind.
If there is something I am missing, please let me know. Otherwise, please consider this a feature request. It seems like a very obvious oversight on the features in Numbers.

This feature is not available in Numbers. If you'd like to request this feature to Apple then from Numbers' Main Menu select "Provide Numbers Feedback."

How can i highlight text in the Adobe Difital Editions?

You have to remember that Digital Editions was never designed to have 'text
editor' capabilities.  BTW: Bluefire and Overdrive also have such
limitations.  Put in another frame of reference, DE presents you with the
ebook, as you would be presented with a physical printed book.

Does anybody know what cause the problem and how to fix it? The current walkaround is to convert the pdf into image, then load the image into acrobat and perform OCR. But this is tedious and some information may be lost. I'm wondering if there is a better solution.

  • Link in a DVD menu to link to text files such as Word, Adobe PDF's ect

    Hello All
Is there anyway to put a link in a DVD menu to link to text files such as Word, Adobe PDF's etc that are burned into the DVD?
Hope someone can help me out.

Is there anyway to put a link in a DVD menu to link
to text files such as Word, Adobe PDF's etc that are
    burned into the DVD?
Actually, you CAN'T with iDVD. You CAN put a variety of content into the DVD-ROM area, but that isn't accessable from any menu in an iDVD created DVD.
If you use DVD Studio Pro, you have some ability to add the kind of links you ask about.

  • Does anyone know how I can create a text field in a pdf document that will multiply a total in another box?

does anyone know how I can create a text field in a pdf document that will multiply a total in another box? I’m making an interactive pdf for an order form (attached), and I need to find a way for the “total quantity” number to multiply by 9 and total in the “Amount Due” box.

    Hey Gary,
Have a look at this post: Re: horizontal scrolling similar to excel
Andy's reply will show you how to make a table scroll horizontally, but it will be tough to accomplish it in some sort of easily replicable way. I am working on a JQuery extension that will help accomplish this, but I have had my time invested in another project at the moment.
    Good Luck,
