Can I select and drop multiple photos onto the video timeline in the order that I select them?

can I select multiple photos and drop them onto the video time line in the order I select them in?
Why do I loose the link to my files in the organiser?
I have edited and saved several projects, now I want to combine them as one movie how do I do that?

There is often confusion, as to what the Project File, PREL, is and what's in it, plus how to use it.
The PREL, or Project File, is an XML code database, with instructions, and links to one's media files. It has no media files inside it, just links to where they were located on the system, when the user Imported the media files into the Project. For more detail, please see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3392837#3392837
When one does a Save, Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy, it is ONLY the PREL file that is written. That article goes into detail on the various types of Save, and their uses.
If one wishes to "save" a Project as media, they need to Export/Share/Publish that Project's Timeline to a media file. This file, will then display in Organizer, or any other cataloging utility program (with a few exceptions, but those are related to the specs. chosen in the Export/Share/Publish operation).
I hope that sorts out the confusion and good luck,
Hunt

    Try this general troubleshooting procedure:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Why can I drag and drop from Photos to Pages, but not to Microsoft Word 2011

I'm unable, under OS X 10.10.3, to drag and drop pictures from Photo into Word for Mac 2011.  I can paste from Photos into Pages.  How can I add Word to the list of programs that can take pasted photos pasted from Photos

Drag and Drop support is done programmatically as part of the application design. There is no user settable configuration, or list of programs that you can add Word too. Apple has supported drag and drop in Pages for a long time, and from iPhoto or Aperture picture libraries. Microsoft chose another path.
I don't have Office for Mac 2011, but I can state that Word 15.8.1 in Office for Mac 2015 Preview does not accept drag/drop of images from Photos either. It compensates by offering Insert ▸ Pictures ▸ Photo Browser… and when selected, displays an image panel not unlike Pages offers when clicking images from its Toolbar. At the top of this Word Preview panel is the Photos logo. It is from this Photos browser panel, that Word Preview accepts drag/drop of images. It may be that way in Word in Office for Mac 2011 too.

  • Can't drag and drop Multiple pictures

I can no longer drag and drop multiple iPhoto pictures to the Desktop. Drag and drop a single picture works OK but multiple pictures just doesn't work. I was able to do this in the past. I'm using version 9.4.2. Repairing Disk Utilities and restarting has not helped.
Can anyone help? Your help is appreciated.

Try this: make a temporary, backup copy of the library if you don't already have one (Control-click on the library and select Duplicate from the contextual menu) and try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    2 - Select and run Option #1.

  • Can I drag and drop single photos into Events?

Hi guys. I've very recently ordered a new Mac that will have iLife 08 on it. Before I get started with it I've got a question about Events. I've been using iPhoto for the last several years, organizing my photos into albums. I've cleaned up my images to around 1,000 photos, and I plan to only use events for organization. (I don't want to use Events AND albums, don't see the point, I'm going to try using ONLY Events.) But I've got a few scenerios that I'd like to throw by you all, to see if they would work, as I'm hoping that they will...
I don't shoot photos into pre-defined "Events", I shoot photos by what I feel like shooting. "Hey, my dog is doing something funny" - There's 3 pictures, or "Wow that's a big spider!" - 1 picture, or "My little neice is doing something cute" - There's 4 pictures. I do not want 450 events, each containing 1 - 5 pictures.
Can I drag and drop single pictures into different events? For example, have an Event called "Friends" with pictures of my friends in it, that I put there? Or an event called "Concerts" with photos taken throughout the years?
I hope I've made it clear what I'm looking to get out of Events!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Exactly - I think he will want to matain his existing structure -- people are making too much of the name change from rolls to events.
I have events with one photo and events with as many as 2000 photos -- I like this better than rolls but albums, folders and keywords are still the key to granular organization - events are ust the library to hold my photos
To me it is a small step forward that makes organization much easier (and it was not that hard before)

PS - now if I could just get all of my edits to save - where are TD and OT to solve that one for me?

    Hello iMuppet2,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It appears that your PC is not recognizing your iPhone 4s as a camera when you connect it.
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the "Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8" section of this article helpful with getting your PC to recognize the iPhone:

  • I can't drag and drop some photos to desktop

    HI all,
I need your help. I am trying to drag and drop photos from iPhoto to my desktop. Some photos will drag and drop (as always) and now all of a sudden some photos will not. When I drag one of these photos, a "no entry' sign appears with the photo as it crosses the boundary from iPhoto to the folder/desktop. I am unable to export some photos in any way. What gives? This has never happened before and I am stumped.  I have never written the forums before so I hope you can help!
    Thanks in advance!

now i cant seem to insert anything on to an existing report, i am very new to crystal and have searched a couple of forums, i will keep searching the forums, but if someone has a link or any advice that would be great, maybe its a setting i unknowingly have checked?

If you selected Read only option for the report. Change the option using :
File->Report options-> (un check "Read only")
If you are not able to drag fields on only sections. then go to section expert and if a particular section is selected as read only, then remove the read only option there.
I hope this may help you.

  • Can't drag and drop mp3s to trekstor i.beat, keeps disconnecting the device

Hi, am using snow leopard. In the past was perfectly able to use non ipod mp3 players. Now all of a sudden can't transfer mp3 via drag and drop to my new Trekstor i.beat. Yesterday tried an Archos, also did not work. What happens:
when I drag and drop mp3 from desktop to player, the window copy to trekstor opens and starts to tell me how much time it will need for copying and then nothing happens for a while and then I get the message: "hard disk was not correctly disconnected" and the device is being disconnected. I then get the message: finder could not ...because data could not be read or written" (mistake: - 36)
Sometimes I can drag and drop jpgs, but never mp3s. They are normal mp3s, not protected.
Can anyone help? And no, I don't want to buy an iPod. Thanx
    iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

they are normal mp3 players and don't need to be compatible with apple. They can function as USB devices and normally be loaded with mp3s. I've tried this with other macs and it works fine. It used to work on my mac, too, but for some reason does not work anymore. There is something wrong with my software or settings and I would be very grateful if somebody could help me solve this problem.

  • Can't drag-and-drop from CD to Desktop

I can't drag-and-drop a photo from an Iphoto CD to the Desktop. I was able to do this on my old 17"IMAC. But the new 20" won't allow me to this anymore. Once I drag it past the Iphoto window the cursor has a circle with a bar across. The MAC person at CompUSA couldn't help. Can you? His suggestion was to drag it to the Iphoto library and then drag it out of the library to the Desktop. Huh?

In Iphoto, I select the albums I want to copy. I then hit burn CD. It then determines the amount of space needed. Then I hit burn CD again. Its begins burning the CD, then it verifies the CD, then ejects the CD when completed.
When the CD is re-inserted, Iphoto displays it as a regular album. I select the album, then a file, and attempt to drag-and-drop that file to the desktop. The cursor appears as a circle with a bar and it won't allow a one-step drag-and drop as with the old 17" IMAC.

  • Can't drag and drop music to iphone5

I updated to the latest Itunes, plugged my new Iphone5 in and "restore from previous Iphone back up"  It did it fine, then i went to manage music manually and  checked the boxes for all the artists I wanted on my new phone. Sync it to my phone and all seemed ok.  Prior to this I downloaded 250 songs off the cloud so I had some music while I updated my computer so I could run Itunes for Iphone5.  When I sync everything it doubled up the 250 songs that were on there.  then some worked and some just skipped over and went to the next song.  I want to delete the doubles off my phone and re-enstall the music which i can't do from Itunes and when i do it from my phone its gone on the phone but still on the "on this phone" in itunes.  I can't drag and drop any music onto my phone and when i go to "music" on my phone from itunes it says i have to erase all content and sync with this computer.  this is the only computer and only account it has ever seen.

Tried that, I can get almost all my music except one album (the album I want).  I deleted it off my phone by swiping then hitting delete.  It does not show up on my phone but it does say that it is on my phone when i plug into itunes.  I can't drag and drop it, I checked the box for that album and it didn't transfer.  No idea what to do.  How can I even just use Itunes to delete music off my phone?  Used to be able to highlight and then right click and then delete, not anymore.

  • Can't drag and drop or copy multiple photos from iPhoto 9.4.2

I am trying to export multiple edited (not originals) photo files from iPhoto to finder (actually to place in my Dropbox folder to share with friends/family). This used to be (in previous versions of iPhoto?) an easy case of dragging and dropping a selection of photos, or even a whole event, to the desired location in Finder. However, this no longer seems to work. It seems like it will as when you select and drag the photos, the 'green plus' symbol appears and remains when I move to drop the selection into finder, but then nothing happens. The photos dont transfer.
I can still drag and drop a SINGLE photo effectively and it saves in the edited form. I also tried selecting the desired photos, chosing copy and then paste in the desired location in finder. But when I chose 'paste' (right click, paste; or edit, paste) in the desired location, it only pastes a limited selection of the photos which I chose to copy. Not all the photos copy across.
I cant understand why this is no longer possible as it used to be one of the classic examples of intuitive file actions that I love Apple for. The only way I can find now is to chose to export the selection or event (file, export) but this is much less easy and requires various decisions about the file quality etc. Using this option with various compression options, I have not been able to replicated the "original" file size which is displayed under 'info' for each photo in iPhoto.
    Any ideas please?
    Tom

Thanks LarryHN thats helpful. I've just tried that and the export 'current' option does indeed re-create the edited photo file with exactly the same file size at that shown in iPhoto. I did consider the 'current' option but was put off by the loss of the metadata with this option. But maybe the old drag and drop approach was the same?
It's curious that the resulting file size from 'export, current' is different (larger in the example I just tried) in comparison to that resulting from 'export, jpeg' (with either the medium or high option selected).
OK there seems to be a couple of reasonable options available although neither is as nice as the simple 'drag and drop' which used to be available!!! Why would they remove that option?? (and yet not for single files?).
    Thanks
    Tom

  • Can't drag and drop photos from iphoto to desktop or anywhere!

I used to be able to drag and drop photos out of iPhoto, it would usually show me a green plus. But now, when I tried to drag and drop my photos out of iPhoto, it would not allow me to and give me a white circle with a slash in it. I am a photographer, so I really need to do this desperately. I was going to copy it onto a new folder on my desktop then transfer it into my hard drive. I can't even get it to go on the folder on my desktop. I did a little research and found out that the white slash is telling me I have no permission to do that, but why? How can I make myself have permission like before?
    Please help!
    Thanks!

Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?
    Regards

  • Can not drag and drop photos in Lightroom 4 map module

In Lightroom4 map module, I can not drag and drop photos onto the map from the filmstrip? I select the photos, and then try and grabbing them to drop them on the map and when I click on one of the pictures to grab, it deselects the others I've selected and only hightlights the one photo,  ironically, I can not even drop the one photo onto the map.

Thank you Victoria.  I thought I was grabbing it on the thumbnail, but I must not have been, I must have been as you said on the border.  Sorry.
Thank you again for the help.
