Can I send 3D HDMI source over Thunderbolt port?

I have a 3D television sitting around in my home and I have some 3D Blu-ray movies, but sadly the sole BD-capable device in my home is my home server (in its own equipment compartment, running headless) so ripped the movie off the disk and now I want to play it back to my 3D TV. Is it possible for me to play it on my MacBook Pro (13-inch early 2011) and pipe the 3D feed to the TV?

I am looking to stream video from a hdmi source to minidisplayport/thunderbolt. I have a hdmi to minidisplayport adapter but I cant seem to get TDM to work.
It won't/can't work that way.

  • Can ASA send it's syslogs over it's own IPsec tunnel?

    I'd like to send syslogs etc sourced on an ASA to a destination that is connected via an IPsec tunnel on the ASA sourcing the traffic. Is this possible?
    I'd have to have a a no-nat matching the traffic and also "same-security-traffic permit intra-interface". But which interface would I put on my "logging host" statement?
    Appreciate any pointers

    * Yes, the ASA can source traffic which can be sent over an IPSec tunnel.
    * For a syslog, you will want to create a site-to-site VPN connection (as opposed to configuring the ASA as a VPN head-end).
    * You will not need the 'same-security-traffic permit intra-interface' command -- the syslog traffic is being source from the ASA itself -- the syslog traffic is not being sourced 'from an interface'.
    * You will not need the 'no-nat' command either. Once again the syslog traffic is not traversing from one interface to another interface; therefore, an xlate will not be created.
    * When configuring your site-to-site VPN tunnel, you must specify 'interesting' traffic which is to be encrypted. Traffic from the ASA to the Syslog server should be marked as interesting (by matching the ACL which defines interesting traffic).
    * you specific the interface off which the syslog server resides in the 'logging host' command.
    In other words:
    * say your syslog server has IP address 1.1.1.1 which resides on the Internet.
    * say your outside interface on your ASA has an ip address of 200.200.200.200
    * say your syslog server is located at a remote operations center which reside on the Internet. You will create a VPN tunnel from the remote operations center to your ASA (site-to-site tunnel). Create an ACL for interesting traffic that says to 'permit ip host 200.200.200.200 host 1.1.1.1' to mark traffic as interesting from the ASA to the syslog server.
    * you will specify the outside interface in your 'logging host' command.
    THINGS YOU DON'T NEED:
    Because the syslog traffic is not transitting from one interface to another interface:
    * you do not need to configure an ACL to permit syslog traffic to leave the ASA to go to the syslog server
    * you do not need to configure NAT. An xlate is not required.
    Let me know if this gets you going. I would be happy to set this up in a lab environment to provide you a sample configuration if you need it. I don't have a syslog server but could demonstrate this by running administrative traffic to and from the ASA via the VPN tunnel.

    Troy

  • Can i use a hdmi to mini display port cable to use my iMac as external monitor for a windows laptop?

    Does anyone know if a hdmi to mini display port cable can be used to link a  windows laptop with an 27 inch iMac to use the iMac as an external monitor. Or are there other options to connect my DELL latitude 6430?

    Is the 3.5mm-to-optical cable any better than using a standard 3.5mm?  I don't know too much about this stuff.  My thought process was that if the source of the connection is a 3.5mm jack, does it make a difference using a cable that starts as a 3.5 and converts to optical?
    Chances are excellent that if your receiver is less than 20 years old it has an optical input, this is a digital signal which will sound MUCH MUCH better than using an analog 3.5MM to 3.5MM connection. I recommend using the cable suggested or one with the same connections but of a different length if your needs warrant it.

  • New MacBook- Can't send email. I've changed ports and still the same thing

    Hello. I just got my MacBook and I can receive email fine, but I can't send emails. I read the forums and was advised to change my port from 25 to 587 or 143. I'm not sure how someone determines what port I'm suppose to be using? The error I receive is that port 587 or 143 has timed out.
    Please help. Thank you.

    how are you connected to the internet? try going straight into your modem, could be a port issue on a router
    does your smtp server need authentication? does it use ssl?
    port 587 usually does work if 25 doesn't but those are the 2 main ports used, if neither works verify what port your ISP is using

  • Can I connect multiple devices to one thunderbolt port?

    I have the need to connect an external monitor and a firewire cable to my Macbook Air, but with only one Thunderbolt port I am trying to determine if this is possible.  Is there such an adapter that would take my single Thunderbolt port and 'split' it into two?

    Also, if you use the Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display, it will have an additional Thunderbolt and Firewire ports on its back.

  • Can't send large mails (Anything over 1.5meg)

    I use mail.app (4.4) with a hosted exchange server (i use SHERWEB) but each time i try to send any mail over 1.5meg i get a window popping up saying not responding to server try another or try later.
    Is this a mail.app bug or my hosted exchange?

    Hi Guys,
    This is an issue with the exchange server. It's related to the Web Services of exchange and the mail server ignores the default attachment limit and uses one elsewhere in the system. I believe the latest patches from MS should correct it or else have a look at the following link. The issue occurs with Mail.app, Entourage 2008 (WS Edition) and Outlook 2011 (basically any app that uses the new MS Web Services to connect to the Exchange server rather than the older WebDAV method.

  • Can't send email with large (over 1MB) attachment

    Win 7 64-bit, Thunderbird 31.2.0, eSet antivirus (but disabling it for email doesn't help), godaddy email server (works fine from godaddy web mail), port 80 (been using this port for years; 25 doesn't work)
    Sending email with a 974KB attachment works. Email with a 1.4MB (and larger) attachment doesn't work. The error message appears pretty quickly (5 seconds at the most).
    The message is "the connection to SMTP server smtpout.secureserver.net timed out".
    This problem seem to appear at random, then go away and all is well (for a while).

    No. The modem is an Arris obtained from Comcast on 6/9/2014 after the prior one failed.

  • Can't send and receive on the same port

    Hello,
    I have a socket client which send a message to serverSocket then it should wait for a response.
    The problem I have is that the client send the message but when it tries to open a connection as socketserver on the same port it can't , a have this ERROR CannotGetConnectToTheHost
    this is the code of my client :
    try {
    echoSocket = new Socket("localhost", 3001);
    out = new PrintWriter(echoSocket.getOutputStream(), true);
    out.println(hdr + testContent );
    echoSocket.getInputStream()));
    } catch (UnknownHostException e) {
              System.err.println("Don't know about host: localhost.");
              System.exit(1);
    } catch (IOException e) {
         System.err.println(
              "Couldn't get I/O for "
         + "the connection to: USE host : "
              + e.toString());
              System.exit(1);
         out.close();
         echoSocket.close();
    int compteur = 0;
    try {
    ServerSocket oreille = new ServerSocket(4001);
    Socket socket = (Socket)null;
    System.out.println("Ready to accept connections");
    while (true) {
         socket = oreille.accept();
         System.out.println("\n Nouveau message rceptionn :\n");
         InputStream entree = socket.getInputStream();
         int c;
         String msgAdh = "";
         while ((c = entree.read()) != -1) {
         msgAdh += (char) c; //lecture byte par byte
         compteur++;
         System.out.println("Ready to accept Another Message ");
         entree.close();
         socket.close();
         oreille.close();
    } catch (IOException e) {
    System.out.println("CannotGetConnectToTheHost");
    thinks in advance

    When printing out an exception, print the exception object too, e.g.System.out.println("..whatever...:" + e); It almost always contains useful information. For extra credit, print out the stack trace too.
    If I understand correctly what the program does:
        while (true) {
            socket = oreille.accept();
            oreille.close();
        }That can't be right: after the first loop, you close the socket, and then try to use it again on the second loop. If you want to keep using a socket, keep it open.

  • Can we play music from spotify over air port express from a pc.It works with an ipad!

    any ideas on spotify?

    To stream audio from other than iTunes on a PC to an AirPort Express Base Station (AX), you would need a third-party solution, like Rogue Amoeba's Airfoil.

  • Exchange 2013 - Can receive, but can't send.

    Emails aren't sending locally either so I doubt it is the firewall.
    Logs are in the event viewer and there are specific exchange sections.

    I can receive emails from other domains and elsewhere however I can't send emails locally or over the internet.
    Mail flow receiver and sender connectors seem to be configured correctly.
    Any ideas?

  • Mail can't send now and still no sound.

    As well as no new mail sound , now I can not send mail, it asks over and over for the outgoing server password.
    I am using Leopard 10.5.5 and Mail 3.5 on my Mac Mini G4
    Mail is just getting worse, why do we have to use other email programs, when we pay for Leopard ? I'm getting so sick of this.

    Rodney,
    Who is the provider of the SMTP you are using? Some ISP (notably Comcast) have recently changed how they handle even the SMTP they provide.

  • Can't send with Entourage or Mail on Mac OSX

    Friends,
    Was minding my own business a few days ago, and noticed I can receive on both programs, but can't send....already changed port to 587 to see if there was a change there....deleted account and re-set it up, but still says can't connect to server...
    any ideas? Appreciate any help...Happy Holidays from Cancun, Mexico !!!
    Andy

    Using smtp.mail.me.com - also tried smtp.me.com
    SSL yes
    port 587
    SMTP Authentification Yes
    Security SLS/TLS - also tried STARTTLS
    User full **@me.com email address - also tried user name without @me.com
    I have spoken to apple support this afternoon and we tried the variations shown above.
    Support told me to wait for a day and try again!
    After the iCloud authentication problem last night I changed all my passwords I wonder if there is an SMTP problem at me.com perhaps not reading the updated passwords?
    I'll try and use the old passwords later.

    Amazing lack of information in post = equaly amazing lack of help. Please be specfic, remember we cannot see your computer or look over your shoulder. Please post what is occuring and what troubleshootinng steps you have taken. I am assuming you have a 2011 or late 2012 iMac, the only two iMacs with Thunderbolt ports. If we know what you are connecting, what cables you are using and what problems you are encountering we may be able to help.

  • Thunderbolt port is also Mini Displayport port?

    Can Mini Displayport adapters be plugged into Thunderbolt port on my 2011 MBA?

    Have you tried it? I have a 2011 Mac Mini with a MDP to DP cable going into an HP ZR24w display port monitor and I can't get a signal. Anyone actually having success? The specs on paper say it's possible but I haven't heard anyone actually confirm it and frankly it's not working for me.
