Can I set a default Reply-From email address on my iPad/iPhone?

In Mail for the Mac, there is an option under the Compose settings to set a default Reply-From email address for all your emails, so that, regardless of which account any email came from, you will always reply by default from one specific address. Is there a way to set a default Reply-From address on the iPad/iPhone?

[EDIT: Sorry, mis-read question. Ignore me.]

  • How to set one default "reply-to" email address for multiple accounts

I have an iPhone 3GS. I have my own domain name which I want to use as my primary "public" email address. It is forwarded from the hosting ISP to my ATT/Yahoo email address. I also have a Gmail account. I would like recipients to see that it comes from my domain ([email protected]), but since it is actually going through ATT/Yahoo, I can only see how to set the "From" field to either my ATT/Yahoo account or my Gmail account addresses. Is this even possible?
Essentially, I don't directly access "[email protected]", but that's where I want it to appear to come from, regardless of where it actually originated.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Mark

You get e-mails just fine, but do you have rights to log into the e-mail server at myfirstandlastname.com? If you can do that (check with your hosting ISP to find out if they will let you), then you can just set up the iPhone to use that e-mail server to send your mail. It's possible to set up an iPhone IMAP account to get mail from gmail, but use a separate non-gmail SMTP server to send outgoing mail, all within the same iPhone e-mail account.
If you can get this working, then you won't need to mess with reply-to headers. Your e-mail will not only look like it got sent from myfirstandlastname.com -- it actually WILL be sent from there and all replies will automatically go there and then be forwarded as usual to your ATT/Yahoo address. No one will know that ATT/Yahoo is involved, and both your sent and received e-mail will show up in the same single e-mail account on the iPhone.
I do this all the time with my e-mail. My account is really at gmail, but the e-mail address says it came from mycollege.edu. My old college offers me an alumni forwarding-for-life account. They only forward mail, though; they don't hold it. They do also run an SMTP server, though, and that's what I use to make my outgoing e-mail look as if it came from mycollege.edu.

How can I switch my apple I'd email address on my ipad to my gmail account that was associated to another device I own?

  • Can you set a default "Reply-To:" on a per account basis?

I have two accounts set up in Apple Mail. One is a work account, and the other is my personal iCloud account.
For my personal emails, I would prefer to have any replies directed to an "email-for-life" address. My college alumni association has a service, which is essentially an email forwarder. The beauty of this is that I am not tied to a particular ISP such as iCloud, mobileme, .mac, etc. If I change ISPs, I only have to update the infomation on the forwarding system rather that letting all my personal contacts know that my email address has changed. For them, my permanent email address is of the form "<firstname.lastname>@<college>.alumni.edu". As such, I cannot use that address as my "From" address, as mosts ISP requirethe From address for authentication. I suppose this helps prevent spoofing.
I have seen instructions for setting a Default "Reply-To:" address in Apple Mail by  setting the UserHeaders in Mail prefs via a Terminal window:
To set: Enter the following in a terminal window:
    defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To:"="[email protected]";}'
To review settings: Enter the following in a terminal window:
    defaults read com.apple.mail UserHeaders
To clear settings: Enter the following in a terminal window:
    defaults delete com.apple.mail UserHeaders
My problem is that this sets the default for all email accounts in Apple Mail. I only want to do this for my personal email account. I want emails sent from my work account to reply to the work email addresss.
Is there a setting on the defaults write ... command such that I can apply the UserHeaders to only one account?
    Regards,
    Tim

What you could do is first rename the record to be imported
    IMPORT SOURCE_TBL AS PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG;
    Then write a insert/select script from PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG to PS_SOURCE_TBL defaulting column EXCHANGE_RATE_OPTN
    Insert into PS_SOURCE_TBL (COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN, EXCHANGE_RATE_OPTN)
    select PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG (COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN,COLUMN, 'defaultvalue');
And then drop table PS_SOURCE_TBL_ORG to clean up your database.

  • Setting a default "reply from"

I am creating a new email address -- [email protected] I'm setting mydomain.com to forward all mail to my .Mac mail (for the convenience of accessing mail on my .Mac page). Then I read the email in Mail.app. But when I reply to a message that arrives in Mail.app, it will by default send the reply FROM the .Mac account, cuz that's where it saw it come from. I'd like to have it reply from my [email protected] account but I don't see a way in Mail.app to set a default reply account. And I don't want to have to manually change every reply manually for all eternity.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks very much.

    Hi Mitchell,
I believe you coud also add this new email account to your .mac page.
    From .Mac Help:
    Checking a second email account
You can use .Mac Mail on the web to check a separate POP email account in addition to your .Mac Mail account.
To receive mail from an external POP account:
    1. Go to www.mac.com and click Mail on the .Mac tab.
Tip: If you're already logged in, you can click the Mail button on the .Mac main page.
    2. Click the Preferences link.
    3. Below Other Options, select the checkbox next to "Check mail from an external POP account." Type the POP account name, POP mail server name, and the account user name and password in the text fields provided.
    4. Choose an option from the Destination Folder pop-up menu.
    5. Select the checkbox next to "Leave Messages on Server" if you want to leave the original messages on the POP host server so you can still read them when you access the account directly.
    6. Click Save.
After you have configured an external POP account, a link to check mail for this account will appear below your folders in the left pane of .Mac Mail. When you click this link, any new messages the account has received are delivered to the .Mac Mail destination folder you specified.
Also, you can set Mail to always send from the same account in Mail Preferences/Composing. In Addressing, select the account you want to send from.
    Hope that helps!

  • Can i generically change the "send from" email address in mavericks 10.9.2?

I have my regular email address and another that I'd prefer to be sending from. That one doesn't have password as it's a simple forwarding email. Can I send from it? Can't see how without setting it up as full email address.

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Try to send a message and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

  • How Can I set up Thunderbird for multiple email addresses

I am using Eudora 7 to handle 6 email accounts on a Windows XP SP3 machine. I want to install Thunderbird on the same machine and import the email addresses. I have Eudora setup to store the data files for each email address in a different data directory. This allows me to have a different icon on the desktop for each email account. Clicking on an icon starts Eudora with the email address data stored in a specific directory.
What I don't know is how to have Thunderbird import the different email addresses from Eudora to Thunderbird and how to keep the individual email address data separate in Thunderbird.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I never used Eudora, so I can't tell much about it. In any case, I believe it's dead.
Wrt multiple accounts in Thunderbird, there isn't much you can do wrong. Simply run the new account wizard and set-up the accounts you want (one at a time).

If any of your accounts are POP ones, make sure not to enable Global Inbox to keep them separate.

  • Default reply-to email address using XML Publisher Enterprise

I'm currently just testing out XML Publisher. I've noticed that when I use the web interface to email a report (with either the send button or scheduling the report to run at a specific time), the SENDER is always set to "[email protected]". How do I go about changing this default email address.
I've seen samples on how to do this with a control file when trying to create reports using java API, but nothing on how to setup a default email address when users are using the out of the box configuration (the sample reports in this case).

After more searching, I found this for anyone who is interested:
Re: how to personalize from address in xml publisher
I did as instructed and copied the file from the installation CD, modified the file and it worked like a charm.

  • How can I get the host name from Email address?

    hi
When I using socket to develope an email-sending servlet,I don't know how to get the host name from emial address.can you help me,thanks

Stripping off the user name will give you the domain of from field in the message. This is not the same as the host. Take a look at:
    http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html
Theres a pretty good discussion about email headers and how to use the information. You probably want to check the information here against the RFC.

  • How can I change the default "from" email account on my iPad/iPhone in IOS 8.2?

I currently use my phone & pad for business and personal use.  My emails should come from my business account but they're coming from my Yahoo account.  How can I change it without having to manually change each email?  I've checked online but I don't see settings/mail,contacts,calendars/default account in this new revision of software.
    Thanks!

    Hi bschmidt0726,
Go to "Setting"; scroll down to the 4th box for "iCloud"; You need to turn on you "Mail" option in the "iCloud" settings.
    Then,
Go into "Settings", scroll down to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"; on the left panel, scroll down to the 4th box; there you'll find the "Default Account" settings.

I apologize if this has already been asked, but in setting up Mail, i keep getting an error while trying to set up my yahoo account. Will the mail program work with web based email? if this has been asked before, please direct me.
    Thanks!

    Hi Ryan
Mail will not work with Yahoo's free email service, but will work if you have the paid Yahoo service. This is because the free service does not allow mail access by POP mail clients.

  • How to set up Verizon.net email on the Apple iPad/ iPhone & iPod

After two hours on hold I finally got a soul to talk to but just to find out that nobody knew how to set up Verizon email account on the new iPad. It took me a few minutes but I figure it out by myself and I will be glad to share it with anyone by just calling me {edited for privacy} ( Verizon Wireless by the way - lol ).
    {edited for privacy}

Why not search for iPhone setup instructions on these forums?   I have posted exact step by step instructions or configuration summaries at least three times in the past 6 months on this topic.
    Here's one ....
    http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-net-Email/Itouch-is-connected-but-can-t-get-email-to-work-from-...
The above one specifically deals with Verizon mail via the Yahoo portal.   For Verizon regular mail you would modify as follows:
    POP Account Information
       Name: Joe User
       Address:  [email protected]
       Description: Verizon
    Incoming Mail Server
       Host Name:  incoming.verizon.net
       User Name:  [email protected]
       Password: ******
    Outgoing Mail Server
       SMTP outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net    ->
          Primary Server  ->
             Host Name: outgoing.verizon.net
             User Name: [email protected]
             Password: ******
             Use SSL:  Off
             Authentication:  Password
             Server Port:  587
    Advanced
       Deleted Message
          Remove: After One Week
       Incoming Settings
          Use SSL:  Off
          Authentication: Password
          Delete from server: Never
          Server Port: 110

  • Default 'from' email address

    Hi,
I use (and prefer) my +dot mac+ email address over the later +dot me+ one. My default email address from my computers when using Apple Mail app or Mobile Me via a web browser is set to my +dot mac+ address.
But from my iPhone, the default +sent from+ email address is the +dot me+ version. Friends and family are asking me which is my 'real' one - and I am concerned that spam filters etc. that are set to allow my +dot mac+ address will block emails sent from my iPhone.
Thus I want my iPhone mail to be seen as sent from my +dot mac+ address. But I can't find any way of altering the iPhone's settings.
    Can anyone help please.
    Thank you in advance

That's done it - thank you
I was nervous about deleting my account from my iPhone, but following your advice, I did so and re-activated as you described.
It re-synched without problem and now shows my preferred email address to recipients.
    Many thanks

  • How can I change the default setting for downloading photos from email?

How can I change the default setting for downloading photos from emails I receive?  It shows the default as Photoshop Elements 4.0 and is not supported by this system.  That was my last computer!!

That has nothing to do with styles nor Pages, it is a System/Printer Driver setting.
You can experiment to see if the Printer Settings stick with your document, but in the past this has not worked.
