Can I set current location in Safari?

Safari always passes a zip code to web sites that is 50-80 miles away from me. My Wi-Fi is connected to a Dual Wan router attached to two DSL modems. I live in the middle of 52 acres so my Wi-Fi signal is not in range of anything other than my house. I have location services on and have Wi-Fi on. Yet when I search for a site or service, like a store or service in my location, it shows up on the other side of the DFW metroplex. (usually Ft Worth, and I am on the east side of Plano). Can I just edit file and set my zip code so Safari just reads that?

Hello Jeff Herbst,
I have located an article that will walk you through a series of troubleshooting steps. It may help you with your location services issue:

  • Where can i set the location of the LogonTicket cookies in the visual admin

    hello:
where can i set the location of the LogonTicket cookies in the visual administrator?
    thanks!!

    Hi,
When the SAP LOGON ticket Expired or if we need to update the dates, it is generally done at the Visual Administration Level. SAP Logon Ticket is represented as cookie in the Browser which will help us for SSO.
In Visual Admin under keystore admin where our Old Portal certificate exists.
We will need to delete the old portal certificate, then we need to generate new ceritificate and a pop box will appear.. where we need to provide our System details like SID, Client. After these details are given we can get a new certificate in which validity period dates are automatically generated. And also we can import teh same into Portal at Sys Admin->sys config->key store admin for it to be available as .PSE or .DER file for SSO.

check the above for EP security guide which might help you in the same.

  • Can I set child lock for safari on iPad?

Can I set child lock for safari on my iPad? Is this possible?
    I have an ipad mini

Sorry, no. What you can do is enable restrictions, which you can use to lock out all access to safari (just dont' forget the passcode you use to enable this) and then unrestrict when you want to use Safari.

  • Maps: Manually Set Current Location?

    Hi
In V2 iPod Touch Software, can a Current Location be set (in Maps) if Location services can't locate me?
I'm away from the US ... and it would be nice for Maps to know where I was now, rather that constantly thinking I'm in Connecticut USA!
    Thanks

  • How can i set the location of my pictures in photos app for mac osx?

Not every photo I import into my MacBook have all the metadata in them. iPhoto allowed for setting the location, but in Photos I cannot manage to do so. Is there another way to do it or perhaps it's coming with an update?
    Thanks
    MacBook Mid-2010
    OSX Yosemite 10.10.3
    Photos 1.0

Adding location data is not yet supported in Photos.
And we do not know, if future updates will  support this feature. It might help, if you send back feedback to Apple with a feature request. You can use this form:  Apple - Photos - Feedback
As a work-around, use third party apps to add location data before you import the photos to Photos.
You could, for example, first import to iPhoto, add the locations, batch change the titles and captions, do all the things that are not yet supported in the new Photos, then export the photos from iPhoto and import them to Photos.
Or use the free exiftool, if you like the Terminal.

    To install exiftool: http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/%7Ephil/exiftool/install.html
Other convenient apps are Jetphoto Studio, Geotagalog, there are many more ..
I use Jetphoto Studio, but it is not free.

  • Can you set a homepage in Safari?

Is it possible to set a homepage for Safari on the iPad?

The easy way is to just go to your main home page and exit. When you start up Safari again, you are where you left off.
You can have multiple browsers on in the browser stack. Click the stack button to see all webpages activated. Keep one for your homepage and use that when you exit each time.

  • Can't Set Default Homepage in Safari

I have tried repeatedly to set my Safari homepage.  I open the page I want, go to preferences, click the tab that says set current page.  Then if I leave that page and go to a different site, close out of Safari and then reopen Safari it opens to the last site I was visiting.  I don't get it.

It rememebers your last seesion, you have to fiddle with the preferences to avoid that.
Quit, reboot and relaunch Safari. Click your home button, do you go to your home page you have set in your preferences?
Does your home page preference stay in Safari preferences upon relaunching of the program?
If the answer to the above is no, then you have a corrupt Safari preferences file.
Use the Finder > Go To Folder and type
    /Library/Preferences
    and press Go.
A window appears, scroll down and find the
    com.apple.safari.plist
    file and Trash it
Reboot and relaunch Safari, the file will be recreated in place blank, so set your Safari preferences again.

You can only do it if a particular app allows that. The Maps app does not.

  • How can I set service preferences with Safari 5.0.5 and os 10.6.8?  Was working fine until combined update install.

My service preferences won't set after installing combined update earlier this week and the security 2012-4 update that caused so much problem with mail. Is there a list of changes that was  made in safari with this latest update, because the bookmarking isn't working the same and the readling list page is  gone?

because the bookmarking isn't working and the same and the reading list page is gone?
Your profile indicates you have v10.7.2 installed yet your topic refers to v10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
    Try this...
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Safari then reselect it.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync your bookmarks and reading list.
Safari 5.0.5 is an outdated version. You need to update Safari.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update...
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.

  • How can I set the location of iChat dialogue box on my desktop?

When I use iChat it always opens a chat box in the upper left corner of my screen. I then drag it down to the lower right, where I want it, but it doesn't remember that position when I close it and open a new box.
Is there a way to get iChat to always open the chat box in the same location where I want it?
    Thanks for any help.
    Greg

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
This is a yes and no answer.
iChat will remember the place for Outgoing call whether they are Audio, Video or Text chats.
This is always the place the last outgoing chats was when it was Closed and Ended
Incoming Invite to be accepted are always in Standard places and cannot changed.
Text Chats are Top Left of the Screen.
Slightly lower are Audio Only chats.
Video Chat Invites are always Top Centre. (Based on the External iSight being mounted top and centre and Internal iSights being in a similar position - so that it looks like you are looking somewhat towards the camera when watching your Buddy)
Second invites when old invites are present or Chats in the case of Text chats are present will cause a sort of overlapping step effect to the left and downwards (much like any other app opening multiple windows).
If you have Developers Tools Installed you get Property List Editor
This can be used to Edit .plists
I have had little success with trying to alter the positions of windows in iChat.

  • Why does my google keep asking if can use my current location  every time i use it, even if i say yes every time?

N.B. This is also happening on my iphone 4.

OK -Here's what worked for me.
    For iPhone:
On your iPhone or iPod, in your preferred browser, go to www.google.com, and sign in to your account (if you aren't already logged in).
Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and select "Settings"
Under "Precise Location", select "Do not allow"
    Scroll to bottom, and "Save"
    For iPad:
On your iPad, in your preferred browser, go to www.google.com, and sign in to your account (if you aren't already logged in).
Click the "Settings" cog in the upper right corner, and choose "Search settings"
Select "Location" from the left sidebar
Under "Precise Location", select "No. Do not use..."
Select "Save" to save your preference.
When you do search for a specific location in google, it will use your general location, but there will be an option above it to "Use Specific Location" during that search, specifically. No need to leave it on all of the time!
This will eliminate the popups - at least it did for me! I have Private Browsing enabled, and no issues so far. Next time you log in to your settings, it will default back to allowing precise location, so keep an eye on that!
