Can i set my iPhone 4 as a new phone then use iCloud to get information from before restoring the phone? I've restored my iPhone 4 thru iTunes and now trying to set it up using iCloud but it says 'no back ups available'.
I was upgrading my OS system thru iTunes but the plug on my macbook came out and battery ran flat half way thru. This jammed my iPhone 4.
I think it's to do with the OS system. That if i take it to the previous OS system it might work. But since i'm in phone set up mode i can't get into general setting to change it back.
So can i set it up as a new phone and then use icloud to restore info? Or shld i set it up thru iTunes and then iCloud (but since it jammed half way thru upgrading and i've restored i don't think iTunes has any of my previous info)? Or is there something else i can do?

No. You can set up as a new device or restore from iCloud or iTunes. It looks like you backed up with iTunes, so you can't restore with iCloud. To backup your device in iCloud, go to Settings > iCloud and activate it

In addition to the very sound and useful information posted by Lawrence Finch, there is also a way to save the photos from the photo stream to the camera roll on the iPad so that even if the photo stream is turned off, the photos will remain on the iPad.
Launch the photos app and them open the Photo Stream album. Select every photo that you want to save by tapping on them, then tap in the action/sharing icon and select - Save to Camera Roll.
Having said that, the information that Lawrence shared with you is very important and the instructions in both articles are very useful. Make use of them.

But I will try to see if it works. The iPhone is supposedly factory unlocked btw. Anyways, when I put in my tmobile sim, it searches for the service, but it always ends up saying NO SERVICE. I checked that my network says that the "phone not allowed". So I don't have 3G on this phone I presume. I heard that you need 3G to have service is that correct? But how do I resolve it? The iPhone does know that my phone carrier is tmobile. It just says no service. And I've tried restoring it three times and turning it off and on and it won't work. If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. My iphone 3gs won't allow me to enter my email password. The acct is all greyed out in the settings menu and now I can't get email. I restored the phone through iTunes and did a hard reboot but nothing helped!!

I changed the password on my Yahoo mail account and now the phone will not let me enter the new password. The mail account is greyed out in the settings menu.

Try deleting the account and set up a new one. Also make sure to not sync the phone with old email settings.

The first message that AirPort Utility will display during the auto setup will be that the Express will be confgured to "extend" the network. When AirPort Utility analyzes the network further, and sees that the Express cannot "extend" the 3rd party network, the next message will indicate that the Express is being configured to "join" the wireless network.
Once the Express is configured, if you later go into AirPort Utility to check the settings under the Wireless tab, you will see that the Wireless Mode is indeed "Join a wireless network".

I can't help it but it sounds like you bought a stolen iPhone from "someone", which you shouldn't do in the first place.

Contacts should be configured to sync with an app on your computer. You set this up in iTunes on the Info tab with the iPhone connected. You will not lose any contacts if the app on your computer has at least one contact.
