Can i set my pc to print on my printer wirelessly?

I have an HP Photosmart C3180 printer hooked to my iMac.  If I am using a Windows laptop and connect to the iCloud through the internet, can I set it up to print on my iMac's printer?

If your printer is airprint enabled, it'll print natively.
iOS: Using AirPrint
explains it and has a link to a list of supported printers
If your printer isn't on that list, you still have options.  Your printer's manufacturer may have an app or accommodate things like google docs or the such. You'd need to research this on  your manufacturer's site.
Or there are third party printing apps. I've used print n share, but there are several others out there. You'd just need to research and find one that looks good to you.

    Hey Eugene!
Here is the website about AirPrint, if you scroll down it will say in details if your model is compatible with AirPrint.

  • How can I set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318

I can not set up the canon printer mf4380dn for macbook pro MD318 even thought I set up the printing driver already. The printer usually work good for printing via windows laptop.
I tried some way but error appear "unable to verify the printer on your network". I printing IP is available

Upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB's.  Your machine can support 6GB's, but upgrade to 4GB's first. Regardless of what Apple says, you need at least 4GB's to run Lion properly.

Is there a cd that came with the printer?
If so, put in the cd and that will help you set it up.
If not, I think macs come with a program that helps you set up printers.
Also make sure that the printer is connected to the same network.
Make sure the printer is on.

No, there is not setting for a default printer. The system scans for available airprint printers each time you print.

  • Can I set up my time machine to back up wirelessly WITHOUT hardwiring it directly to Ethernet?

Can I set up my time machine to back up wirelessly WITHOUT hardwiring it directly to Ethernet?

Indeed you can, but I don't recommend it unless you live miles from the closest neighbor with WiFi. Your mileage may vary. I live in a suburban neighborhood with 32 other wireless routers (at last count) visible from my desktop. I've never encountered an error with networked Time Machine backups while using a wired Ethernet connection both from computer to router and router to Network-Attached-Storage hard drive. (USB and FireWire-connected drives also perform flawlessly. Can't speak to Thunderbolt because I don't own a Thunderbolt drive yet.)
When I attempted to use wireless Ethernet Time Machine backup FROM the same computers (a mid 2007 MacBook OS X 10.6.8, and a mid-2011 iMac OS X 10.8, 10,9, 10.10) TO the same NAS hard drive (a 2GB Lenovo/IomegaEZ), I'd get notices every few weeks that after the backup verification, Time Machine needed to begin a fresh backup. When this happens, it deletes all the old Time Machine backups. So I never had a backup more than a couple of weeks old. With my wired connection, my oldest Time Machine backup is now about a year old, from when I first acquired the NAS drive and attached it with wired Ethernet.

  • Can I set up custom default printer profiles for different printers in mountain lion?

I have 2 printers connected to my Mac. An officejet and an Eltron label printer. I constantly need to manually change the default label printer size to print to the label printer or officejet. Is there a way to set it where all print jobs going to the label printer is 4x6? Sometimes, I forget and waste some labels to the eltron or send a job to my office jet and it prints a 4x6 image of the document on letter paper. Obviously its a bit of a hassle. If anyone has a trick for this or even third party software, please advise.

    Andrew,
If i am clear with your requirement then You can achieve this by setting the value manually in PR.

  • I can't get my iMac to print wirelessly...

I have a 2009 intel-based iMac and a g5 IMac that connect to the internet via a wireless N+ Belkin router. I have two HP printers (a 2605 color laserjet and an 6500 officejet) connected with an ethernet cable to the router.
The g5 machine quickly identified both printers as "Internet printers" so I added them and was able to print wirelessly to both printers.
The newer iMac g5 prints wirelessly to the officejet, but does not "see" the laserjet as an internet printer (only as a "bonjour shared" type printer). I have tried everything, including setting up the printer manually by entering its IP address, and I can add the printer this way but I won't print.
If I select and add the laserjet printer under "Bonjour Shared" kind, it is unable to print (I either get a message that says "connecting to printer", which can last for hours, or I get a message indicating "Job accepted" but still nothing prints).
Before I switched Internet providers, both Macs could print wirelessly to both printers (I recently switched from a DSL provider to a cable provider, and then back to my old DSL provider).
Any help would be appreciated - very flustering!!

I connected a small photo printer to the router's USB cable and somehow this allowed for the iMac to once more see the HP Colorlaserjet as an IP printer. I happily tried adding it however, I get an error message indicating that the software is currently unavailable.
I still have the installation CD that came with the Colorlaserjet printer and I re-installed it last week so am unclear as to why this happens. I also tried downloading it from the Apple website but not luck either. I tried uninstalling the software (maybe this is the problem), but I can't seem to find the files in Finder (the manual recommends finding and deleting all PPD files, but must admit don't know how to search for these)
So I'm closer but still unable to print... hence my nickname...

  • How can I set up a Canon printer on iMac with cd? (iMac has no cd/dvd drive?)

Purchased the latest iMac with no dvd drive; also purchased a Canon printer with dvd set-up; how can I install printer on iMac?

Macs do not usually need to download anything from the CDs that come w/printers.  Read the user manual that came w/the printer and/or contact Canon Support.
Or purchase an external burner.  Do not purchase Apple's usb burner.  3rd party burners are 110% better.

  • Can't set up Vista Network Printer

My HP printer is currently on a Vista Network. My three Windows based computers all print off of it. I want to add to my new iMac. I have enabled all sharing boxes in the "sharing program" I have tried to add with the "appletalk" dropdown and the "windows" dropdown. When I click on "more Printers" the word "workgroup" (the name of my vista network) shows. I click on that and "bruce-pc" (the name of the network the printer is on) appears but not the printer. It appears the iMac is seeing my network but not the printer. Can anyone help? Thanks

    I found I could never connect to a Vista shared printer using SMB. But I did get it working using LPR/LPD. Here's some steps;
    1. Navigate to the Windows Vista Control Panel
    2. Go to the "Programs and Features" pane
    3. Click on "Turn Windows Features on or off"
    4. Expand Print Services and enable LPD print service
    5. Still in Control Panel, open Printers and right click the printer to share. Select Sharing.
    6. Enable the Sharing button and enter a share name without spaces
    7. On the Mac OS X system, open Printer Setup Utility (located in Applications/Utilities)
    8. Click Add and while holding down the "Option" key, click "More Printers"
    9. From the top menu select "Advanced"
    10. From the "Device" field select "LPD/LPR Host or Printer"
    11. In the "Device URI:" field, lpd://(name of your Windows Vista computer)/(share name of your printer), e.g. lpd://VistaHome/CanonBJ
    12. Browse to the Brand and Model of printer. For a number of printers you will have to use the Gutenprint driver, as a number of vendor drivers do not support cross-platform network printing.
    13. Click the "Add" button

  • How can you set up 2 p2011w printers on the same wireless network?

Ii tried renaming one, but that didn't work. We had one, it works great, my boss loved it and bought another. Now we're all printing in his office because the one he got for us doesn't work. Any ideas?

Do a factory reset on your TC.
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec.
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
Plug the LAN port of the BT router to the WAN port of the TC.
Start the airport utility in a computer and allow it to complete..
It should choose the right setup without intervention.. but you can then make sure of it.
So go to the edit tab by clicking on the TC in airport utility.
Then check the network tab shows off (bridge mode).
Go to the wireless tab and set a useful and simple and short wireless name.
You could even then click on the wireless options on that page and set a different name for 5ghz wireless.

  • How can I fax using my rendezvous printer, wirelessly via Airport Extreme?

I am trying to fax a files from my G4 PowerBook, using my printer, which is setup as a rendezvous printer, via my Airport Extreme Base Station. However, I can't get the fax program to find the printer, when it scans. It only allows me to use the Internal Modem or Bluetooth. How can I send a file to the printer and then use the printer to fax?
    Thanks. Wade

Got it - the problem is setting up and or using the modem inside the printer. The Canon website specs for that printer does say OS X compatible, but if Canon support is telling you it won't work I imagine that part of the driver that runs the dialog box and dialer isn't implemented in the Mac version. Just guessing here.
They cost $49 but you could get this USB modem from Apple and fax directly from your Mac without printing but that would be a shame having another modem in your printer.
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore?productLearnMore=MA0 34Z/A
I guess you could ask Canon if that's the reason it won't work, and if so when they plan to update the Mac driver to use the modem. You might get an unsatisfactory answer, though!
