No with the built in app. However, there are lots of mail apps in the App Store. Depending on who your email provider is, one of them may meet your needs.

@gsheppard I can understand how it can be frustrating not to send out email. The error message that you are receiving indicates that the out going server settings are incorrect. The in coming server setting are correct that is why you can receive and out going server settings are wrong which is why you can not send out. The best way to get this resolved would be to contact your email provider and get the correct outgoing server settings. Hope this helps. Thanks.

I am not sure I understand you question, but if you are attempting to set up an iCloud email account, you can start in System Preferences > iCloud > Account Details. Establishing the details of your iCloud (a.k.a. Apple) ID there automatically creates the account in Mail

Go to Mail Preferences, use the drop-down "new mail sounds". The very last option is ADD/REMOVE. You can choose a sound that will be copied to your own User Library.
To find how many sounds you already have on the computer (TONS if you have any games) just to a search the computer for aiff or aif. Copy the file you like to the desktop so you can find it easily, and add it using the above instructions.
The sound gets copied to your library, so you can delete the desktop file when you're done.

You need the first Internet connection in order to share another connection with the other devices. If you use the Mac and Internet Sharing, then the connection is only going to be as fast as that connection and maybe a little slower since you are all sharing that connection.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear as the saying goes, you cannot speed up the connection by any magical means.
You should be able to use the personal hotspot feature on the phone if the carriers there support it.

You might want to look into a MIFI hotspot as well but once again, you would need some sort of plan for it in New Zealand.

You need to make your own ringtones in iTunes then sync them to your phone. Follow the directions here:

New Mail on top or on bottom?

My new mail coming into my inbox used to be on the bottom of all of the current mail. Now all the new mail shows up on the top. I can change it, but when I reopen it, it goes back to new ones on top. this just started recently, (after Snow Leopard?).

you can change the sorting order by clicking on the "date received" column. if the setting does not stick when you quit Mail your mail preference file is corrupt. you can recreate it but it will mean re-enetering all your account data.
quit Mail, delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist and start Mail. you'll have to recreate your email accounts. once you do they'll recognize their existing mailboxes.

I am familiar with using rules to filter email.
From my Mac at home I acces iCloud.com and have no problems.
I went away for the long weekend, and brought only my iPad.
I started receiving spam from a new source and wanted to filter it out.
From safari, when I go to iCloud I only have three choices, none of them useful.
I have tried to use different URLs but always get redirected to /ipad_welcome/
Is there a way to do this?
Or does the post-PC device still need a PC?

I think there is not a good solution for it (yet). The best solution is to check if you mailserver provides a spam filter solution. I use Gmail and it provides a filter on the serverside. This means the mail is filtered befor I receive it on my iPad (and iPhone). You can also set up a gmail account as a exchange and push all the filtered folders.

Weird problem-w/ aol mail,i can recieve and reply,but can not send new mail

everything is set up, i read the instructions on that site to help me set it up, im recieving mail, and i can even reply, but when i try to send new mail it rejects the smtp. outgoing mail server...any suggestions?

Deleting an SMTP server requires selecting Edit Server List from the SMTP server selection pop-up menu.
ISP is short for Internet Service Provider. Are you using AOL as your ISP for connecting to the internet?
Unless AOL is used as your ISP, your ISP may have made recent changes regarding the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network. Most, if not all ISPs have restrictions regarding the use of SMTP servers outside of their network on Port 25. Using Port 587 usually resolves any such restrictions but some ISPs block the use of all SMTP servers outside of their network regardless. These restriction are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent or reduce spam eminating from the ISP's domain.
Since you have switched back and forth between every option available, I suggest deleting and recreating AOL's SMTP server first (if you haven't already done so) and if this didn't work, deleting and recreating this AOL account in Mail.
If neither works and AOL is not your ISP used for connecting to the internet and you are accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP, try selecting/using your ISP's SMTP server to send mail with your AOL account.
If this works, I would contact your ISP's technical support to inquire about any recent changes implemented regarding the use of SMTP servers outside of their network or put in another way, using an SMTP server that is not provided by your ISP.
The last resort is targeting the Mail.app preference file which stores all account information and general Mail.app preferences.
I try to avoid saying never in regards to computers but I doubt your hard drive replacement has anything to do with this.

E72 and Gmail problem (I can't receive new mail)

I hava Gmail account set up in my Nokia E72. I can send mail and I can receive mail which is dated till 23.02.2010. Mail that came in my inbox after that date and new mail I can not receive on E72. What could be a problem?

You could try re-sync-ing your Nokia Messaging account to see if that works. I forgot the exact term though but it's somewhere in the options...or settings... It will basically remove all the email data in your phone and re-sync to your connected mailboxes fresh.
You will not be able to download a separate Mail for Exchange application to install in your Nokia E72 because the MFE functionality is integrated (built-in) with the Nokia Email Client that is part of your phone OS.
In other words, your Nokia E72 came pre-loaded with the ability to use MFE. When you set up an email account, there should have been an option for you to select "MFE" which will work, if your email account provider has an Exchange server for you to connect to.
Sometimes, with generic email addresses which is by default a POP3 type connection for example, you may have to manually set up the MFE connection. So the way I do it is to trick the phone into thinking my email address is non-standard by typing [email protected]... This will prompt the phone to ask me for an email type.
The only way to "update" your MFE is if the latest software update for your phone has improvements to the email client software.
As for third party mail software, it will vary because phones don't have the same operating system. There's no universal compatibility with one software. Every mobile software developed must be tweaked to work with different models and brands.
It's not an easy thing to do and consumes time & money. So most developers will focus on the devices that are the most popular among consumers... If Nokia E72 isn't listed as a compatible device, then you will not be able to use free mail software. You can email the software company that develops the mail software you are interested in to see if they have plans to include E72 as part of their compatible devices

Can't get new mail nor view last 2 years of mail

I am running OSX 10.6.8 with Mail 4.6 using a POP connection to pull emails from Gmail. While Mail updates Apple RSS feeds, it does not get new mail. Also I can't view any mail I have received since 2012. Since Mail 4.6 was only copyrighted until 2012 is that what is going on? I regularly update software so I presumed my mail software was being kept up to date. Also I have 12K piece of mail , could that be an issue? Could I be receiving the mail and its hidden? Please advise. Thanks

Although no one responded I am posting because this is a cautionary tale. The key problem was that I was synching my mail account to Gmail through POP whereas gmail switched to IMAP two years ago. Because I was unaware of this switch (let's not talk about that) three things were happening. My mail could not get new mail as it was looking for a non-existent i.e. retired connection protocol. So 1) couldn't read new mail, 2) could delete or clean up mail and 3) which was by far the worst part was that the synching I had set up between address book and gmail contacts was going crazy metastisizing contacts and that was putting a strain on my CPU where often 90 % of the CPU use was going to trying something it could not due. Which meant my computer was running very very slowly to the point where I was ready to junk it.
