  • Airport Express - How to set proxy settings?

    Hello all
    I have an AirPort Express in for testing at work.
    The internet access at work requires going through a proxy. This proxy gets set on domain clients via gpo.
    We have some devices we dont want to put on the domain (wont get the gpo) but we need them to have internet access.
    We could set the proxy on these devices manauly but theres a lot of them.
    I have been trying to find where in the Airports settings you can set proxy settings but cant find anything.
    Can you set proxy settings manualy in the device and if so, where abouts?
    I'm using windows for accessing the Airports settings.
    Thanks for any help someone can offer.

    unfortunately i have to use 1.4 which makes this a bit more tricky.
    my other idea was to use system.setProperties to set the 2 proxy fields and then afterwards set them back to what they were -- however in the case they were null I get an NPE when I try and set them back, so I'd need a workaround for that as well.

    '''Did you backup whatever bookmarks you did have on the computer ? '''
    Remember any restoring of bookmarks overwrites whatever he current set is, and you may not want to loose them.
    Even if up until now you have not made any backups of Desktop bookmarks Firefox will have backed up some of them into sets of daily bookmark backups. Once you have backed up your current set you could look at what it has by restoring those bookmarks, you may find one of those sets is fairly complete.
    By the way if you look at the profile files and folders that you should now have on the desktop you should see it contains a bookmarks backup folder, the size of the files within should indicate whether they contain anything.
    You need to go into the bookmarks library and try the restore option. Backup each set that you look at if it has anything of use in it, before trying the next set. With look one of those will be a fairly complete set of bookmarks.
    * USE '''Show All Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Restore '''
    ** see [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer#w_restoring-from-backups]]_restoring-from-backups
    I do not use Firefox on mobiles, but before you try anything further you do need to backup the desktop bookmarks and learn what existing backups you have. Unless you master that you are in continual danger of overwriting and loosing bookmarks.
    Presumably you have already found this listing of help articles for mobiles

  • How can I set a password for firefox so that everyone have to enter the password before executing firefox

    My younger sister executed my firefox just at this afternoon(she originally use IE), and she saw something that can't be seen. How can I set a password for firefox so that everyone have to enter the password before executing firefox?

    Also see this for an English version of Profile Password:
    *Profile Password: http://nic-nac-project.de/~kaosmos/profilepassword-en.html#PPF
    It is an extension to protect the profile with a password, but being an extension that protection can easily be bypassed by starting Firefox in [[Safe mode]].<br />
    So do not rely on it.<br />
    If you want to protect content then you have to use methods supported by the OS like a separate user account with a password or an encrypted file system.

  • How can I have proxy settings stay for multiple users on an educational network?

    Hi,
    I want to be able to have mutlple users log onto machines and haave proxy settings already set in preferences. I have tried by copying the Mozilla folder in to the All users location and does not help.
    Each user logs onto a computer with a mandatory or Roaming account depending on account security. Settings for firefox are picked up from their Documents and settings folder when they log on (It is created when they log on for the first time)
    Is there a way to pull across proxy settings for a new user? Ussually it would be a case of just sticking it in All Users.
    Thanks

    A possibility is to create a file user.js and place that file in the default template location (defaults\pref) in the Firefox program folder.
    If you don't want users to change the proxy (connection) settings then you can also lock the prefs or set a different default value.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
    You can use these calls in mozilla.cfg to set or lock a pref:
    defaultPref(); // set new default value
    pref(); // set pref, but allow changes
    lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes

  • Locking proxy settings in Firefox 6? doesn't seem to work the same as 5?

    Trying to lock down the proxy settings so users can't disable the proxy. Did this in 5 by editing the firefox.js file in omni.jar then creating a mozzila.cfg file, but same technique doesn't appear to work in 6.
    Any ideas what's different?

    This does not seem to apply to Firefox 6. I cant locate a place to configure all user settings like there was in the previous versions of Firefox. My Scenario is-
    Terminal Server on 2008 R2 and trying to configure all user settings that will apply to all users launching Firefox from the TS.
    All documentation and references I have found after an exhaustive search all reference FF 4 and before. Any thoughts?

  • How to set proxy server in firefox in windows mobile

    how can i ser proxy for firefox
    i am using windwos mobile and i can only set the proxy for GPRS
    is there any way to set in firefox?
    pleeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaassse

    I haven't tested this, but if you type about:config in the address bar and search for "proxy" then you might be able to set the "network.proxy.http" and "network.proxy.http_port" preferences to the name and port of your proxy server.

  • Can I set parental control on firefox for a specific user only?

    I'm using windows 7 and firefox 18.0.2. On my PC I have my Admin account and my kids account. Now as they're coming to an age they're needing Internet access for projects and so on, I wonder if I can set parental control on firefox (by add-on?) as I have on windows, so that whenthey log on their account, firefox will only allow access to what I have allowed. That is, limit internet usage ONLY on their account, while I'll still be able to use firefox unrestrictedly. I don't want to have them use another browser that I' m not as familiar with just so I can set parental control on everything on that browser. Any ideas?

    If you mean you want to block certain sites by some parental control software, you can try a web filter to block sites by URL or keywords.

  • Can't set Data settings in 3.1.2

    Hi there,
    I have just upgraded my iPhone 3G to 3.1.2 and can no longer set Data settings - is there a reason I can no longer enter these, and is there another way to do it?
    Thanks
    Nathan

    gdaustin1 is correct.
    Unfortunately went implementing the Repeat Interval UI, the BYTIME clause was incorrectly included in the 11g profile. The BYTIME clause is a possible future enhancement to the RI syntax but has been speculatively included to give the best compatibility experience in the future.
    For 11g and below, the SQLDEV production version will use the same or similar clock UI control (HH:MM:SSS) but create BYHOUR, BYMINUTE and BYSECOND syntax. However only a single value in each these clauses will yield the same result as the proposed BYTIME clause. However with the EA version, the user must use the Advanced mode to set the BYHOUR, BYMINUTE and BYSECOND clauses to achieve the same result.

  • How do I set proxy settings for a Java app behind a corporate server?

    I have the source code of a Download Manager program written in Java. It has to be run within my college network in which we use the "Corporate Client" server to access the internet. Thank you for the quick reply! But the solution provided by you, it seems, has still not been able to address my issue. I ran the program at command prompt with your said parameters, but the download still gave an error in the App window.
    Also, is there some way of defining these parameters in the source code? I am keen in using NetBeans to run the program.
    Cheers!

  • Can't Set Proxy Server For AIM Account

    Hi!
    In the Messages application, the AIM account has a Server Settings tab where one can opt to connect using a proxy. However, with Mavericks I have found that anything I enter in that field is instantly wiped out. The console logs a message each time:
    11/21/13 3:29:25.055 PM Messages[5215]: [Warning] *** API client requested a modification of key "ProxyHost"  to be "myproxy", this is being ignored, please file a radar
    where "myproxy" is anything one enters into the field.
    Any advice?

    Hi,
    This issue goes way back in to the history of iChat.
    It has never been that good at connecting using Proxies.
    It has does slightly better if using the System Settings.
    I don't use Proxies and so have never spent any time working though this.
    Basically iChat and Messages connecting via a Buddy List is via the AIM servers but is almost Peer-to-Peer in process.
    Connections are very linear particularly for Video and Audio chats to the extent that connecting to your router with Ethernet and Wifi is enough to cause issues.
    Whilst starting up the app also contacts Apple to test bandwidth (Internet Speed) and support things ready for Video and Audio chats.
    It is not just a case of Logging in to AIM.

  • Can I set up multiple private firefox pages?

    My wife and I would like to set up our own custom firefox page. Can we do this and if so how do we do it?

    I'm not quite sure what you mean by Firefox page, but you can each create a different Firefox profile if you'd like, [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]]
    OR, just create different Windows profiles entirely.

  • Can't see global settings in firefox in linux

    "Note: The Settings Manager that you see above is not an image..."
    Adobe is assuming I can see the Settings Manager, but I can't.  It's not displaying.  What is wrong?  I thought I installed Flash Player correctly.  I can watch Youtube.  I'm using Firefox in Linux Ubuntu.

  • Can not set security settings explicitly

    Hi,
    I'm trying to create a workspace(library) and a folder via APIs and need the program NOT TO INHERIT security setting from the library to the sub folder.
    Given below are my attribute for the workspace creation and folder creation respectively,
    Attributes for the workspace:
    NamedValue[] wsDef = WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
    { Attributes.NAME, workspaceName },
    { Attributes.DESCRIPTION, workspaceDesc },
    { Attributes.SECURITY_CONFIGURATION,
    WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
    { Attributes.GRANTS, wsGrants }}) } });
    Where wsGrants,
    contains row with
    NamedValue[] wsReaderGRPGrant = WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
    { Attributes.GRANTEE, attr[0].getValue()},
    { Attributes.ROLES, new long[] { readerRole.getId() }},
    {Attributes.PROPAGATING, Boolean.FALSE}});
    Attributes for the folder:
    NamedValue[] fDef = WsUtility.newNamedValueArray(new Object[][] {
    { Attributes.NAME, folderName },
    { Attributes.DESCRIPTION, folderDesc},
    { Attributes.HAS_EXPLICIT_SECURITY_CONFIGURATION,Boolean.TRUE} });
    With these setting, the sub folder still inherits security settings from the workspace.
    Can anyone help me please?
    Thanks,
    Tenjuka

    I haven't tried to create this sort of setup using code, yet. Some thoughts though...
    In what order are you performing these steps? One of things I've observed is that when using the Content UI, when switching from Inherit to Modify, the base security configuration starts out the same as the parent. Are you still seeing the "inherit" switch set to on your subfolder?
    Another thought, it would appear that you are setting each GRANT to be non-propagating for the user being added with the READER role to the workspace. This would imply that only accounts added in with this should not propagate to the folder that isn't inheriting. Are you seeing these additional readers?
    Is the workspace security configuration set to CONFIGURATION_FINAL? Are you supplying a security configuration for the subfolder after providing the HAS_EXPLICIT_SECURITY_CONFIGURATION attribute for the folder? Perhaps the system doesn't like having a null security configuration when it's been instructed that there is one.

  • How can I restore default settings in Firefox?

    You won't believe this... the cat jumped on the desk and flopped down on the keyboard when in Firefox. True. Now the images in some websites are to big for the screen and I have to scroll or pan to see the whole page whereas before I could view the whole page. Also, when I click on home, instead of opening only one tab Firefox opens two extra tabs and fills one with Gmail and the other with Facebook. I tried going back to the Firefox version before version 4 but still the same. I think I need to restore my default settings but I can't find anywhere to do this.

    hi Ben,
    I found two files called AdobeDreamweaverSettingsPrefs  (.xml and.tmp)
    I removed them , emptied trash and restarted dreamweaver but the font stacks are sill missing.
    thank you for your suggestion,
    christos
