Can I set up a business email address?

Hi
I currently have the email address [email protected] but want to set up a work email address (eg [email protected]) IS this something I can do through Mozilla? or do I have to go through my broadband supplier?
Thanks

Thunderbird is not an email provider. Only providers issue email addresses. Thunderbird is email client software.

I'm not good with computers so please explain in simple way...:)
I also wonder what the best way is to set up accounts for children in a family. I dont want them to be able to purchase apps etc through the parents accounts, also some things we like to share as a family and others we don't want to share. Is there any good. clear, simple explanation from Apple Support about these issues? Or best to go to Apple store and go to genius bar or one to one advise?
    thanks

You can set up an iCloud account which makes the iCloud email address you choose the Apple ID and thus the login for it:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/22283348#22283348
though I have to say I think it's more sensible if the ID is another address, both for security reasons (so people don't know what the login is) and as a contact address from Apple if the account were to stop working and they needed to contact you. So personally I would to to System Preferences, enter the GMail address which is an ID, and then choose a nerw @icloud.com address.
If she has her own iCloud account she will need either her own computer or her own user account on your Mac to be able to make use of it. You should note that under Apple's terms of use Apple IDs are only available to children of 13 and over.
As to purchasing apps, this is nothing to do with iCloud: it's iTunes, and the login can be different. So you can all sign into the same iTunes account but have different iCloud accounts. Or she can have her own iTunes account if she is of suitable age (credit card needed for purchasing apps).
If you have other children you should be aware that any one Mac or device can create only three iCloud accounts - this is tied to the serial number, not the user account, and once reached cannot be bypassed. You can of course sign into an iCloud account created on another device.

  • HT2731 can I set up a second email address on iCloud using the same apple id

can I set up a 2nd email address on iCloud using the same apple I'd for a 4s iPhone?

You can create up to 3 alias @icloud.com email addresses for that purpose.  They will all receive email in your existing iCloud inbox and they can be deactivated or deleted if they attract too much spam.  This article explains how to create an alias address: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2622.

  • How can I set up an Apple email address

    Hi,
I have an Apple account, when I first purchased the Mac Mini in 2009, my grandson set it up for me.  Now that I am getting a lot more familiar with Apple thanks to all you ladies and gentlemen who have contributed to my learning, I now wish to have an Apple email address and do away with Google, can anyone please point me in the right direction please.  I do not have ICloud on the Mac Mini, having said that, I noticed that when I purchased software from Apple or songs from Itunes, items I deleted are stored on ICloud.
As I am still running Snow Leopard, I will be upgrading to Maverick, should I wait till I do that and then set up a new Apple email address?
    Thank you
    Kind regards

If only a Mac you need Lion or later to get an iCloud account

  • HT204053 How do I set up a rescue email address if I already have an Apple ID?

I have an Apple ID, but I did not set up a rescue email address.  Now I need a rescue email address in order to reset my security questions/answers.  How can I set up the rescue email address?

You won't be able to add a rescue email address until you can answer your questions, so you will need to get them reset first - see if the instructions on this user tip helps you get them reset : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4551
When you can answer the questions you can then add a rescue email address for potential future use - from here :
Navigate to appleid.apple.com using your web browser.
    Click "Manage your account"
When prompted, sign in using your Apple ID and password.
    Click Password & Security
You'll be asked to answer 2 of your 3 security questions before you can make any modifications. If you are unable to remember your answers, you can choose to send an email to your rescue email to reset your security questions.
After you've validated your identity by correctly answering your security questions, click Edit to the right of your rescue email address.
Once you've finished editing your rescue email address, click the Save button directly below the email field.

My icloud emails arent arriving most of the time and a few days ago my iphone and ipad started showing "Can't Get Mail" box. This has not happened before since I set up the iclud email address with the purchase of my ipad about a month ago.

That's one of the weird things.. it recognizes it maybe 10% of the time. And usually, only after I do the two-button reset. Problem is.. since it won't charge above 2%, anytime I try to do a restore or anything like that using iTunes, my device shuts off and I lose whatever progress I'd made.
So, an update... after reading through a bunch of similar complaints (there are literally 1000's of them so there's NO WAY this isn't somehow ios7 related, thanks a lot APPLE ) I decided to try a restore in recovery mode. After 3 hours and several disconnections... I ended up having to just set it up as a new iPad, as the restore did nothing. Weirdly though... as I was doing the restore in recovery mode.. I noticed I'd gotten up to a 10% charge.. higher than it's been since September, so after setting it up as a new device, I turned it off and plugged it in using the wall charger. 2 hours later and I was up to 38%. Still not great, as my iPad, before ios7 could've fully charged twice in the amount of time it took for me to now get 28% more of a charge. And that's with a fully cleaned out device.. so that really ***** and I'm now more confused than ever.
But I'm gonna leave it overnight charging and see what I come up with tomorrow. Sadly, when I paid $600 for it in February, I never expected to have to play "wait and see" with it...

  • Why can't I set up a 2nd email address?

Ok so I followed all the help instructions for setting up a second email address and all is fine. I can send test emails to my first account and I receive them within the same inbox. But then I hit two roadblocks:
1.) When I reply to the test message it bounces back.
" (reason: 550 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias"
2.) The password window keeps popping up. After entering my password I get "The POP server “pop-server.nyc.rr.com” rejected the password for user “(my new email account)”
    What's going on???

    Christina,
The password rejection could have several causes: The most common is that you're already logged into the new account - using webmail and Mail at the same time -, in which case you need to log out in order to log back into the mail account. Some providers put a block on logging in to an email account for a period of time after failed login attempts. Your Keychain may not have the right password stored for the account. Mail may not have the right password stored for the account. Your provider may allow only one account to be logged in at a time.
There's lots of room for speculation, but your best bet is to call up RoadRunner tech support and ask them to check the account and whether you are running afoul of one of the problems noted above.
The reason I said that you might have a single email mailbox with multiple aliases is this snippet from your original post: unknown or illegal alias.

I can't seem to remember my security answers and I'm not able to set up a rescue email address and I don't know what to do.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

How do I set up a 2nd email address in iCloud? When it was mobile me, I could have 3 addresses. Can I have 2 with iCloud?

You must be talking about email aliases.  Log into icloud.com with a browser, go to the email page and click the cog wheel icon in the upper right.  Go to preferences>accounts.  YOu can define aliases there.  Note that they must now be @icloud.com named emails.

  • Replying using my business email address from my iCloud account?

I am about to switch from MobileMe to iCloud. I know I can set up my business email to forward from my gmail account to my iCloud account.  How do I set it up my iCloud account to reply to my business mail using my business email address? Is this possible?

    ABW1 wrote:
I have answered my own question by looking at other threads on this topic - it appears that it isn't possible, which means I will delay switching to i Cloud till the bitter end.  Pity as I've upgraded to Lion to make it possible.  I hope Apple do something about this - particularly as 'user friendly' is one of their watch words.
No email system that I know of allows you to use their servers without their email address, at best you'll get a 'relay' message, and iCloud does not support POP (if indeed you were using the POP access feature in MM, which put the relay in the headers)
But nothing is stopping you from adding gmail to icloud in Mail and combining the inboxes, that way you can reply to any email from any account, but please use Imap, not POP

  • Hi there I lost my password for my original iTunes account I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid How can I access my old account?

    Hi there.
I did a factory restore and then restored it with iCloud back-up. I have been using lots of Apple products and i have used three different email adresses. Almost all apps restored perfectly but everytime i try to play a song in the Music app, i asks me for a Apple-ID i had no idea i have used.
    Hence:
I lost my password for my original iTunes account
I can't recover it because the email address it is registered under is not longer valid
How can I access my old account?
Can't find a place to change the email address to my new one without the password which I no longer remember.
There is no way to just erase Apple-ID's on my device either.
What to do? Should i ju give up and start from scratch and delete 2 years of stuf?
    Cheers!

If you can remember the answers to the security questions when you set up that account - I think that you can reset the password without needing email authentication. You can try it here. Read it and see if it's possible. But if you can't remember the answers to the questions it will not work.

How can I set up my Shaw email account to work on my iphone? It doesn't want to work no matter what I try. Shaw's help line hasn't been very helpful so far.

Have you not used the automatic 'configure my MobileMe' on my iPhone account setup ?

You only have name, email address, password and a name for the account to enter.
