Can I set up an Apple ID so my kids can use their new Ipad

Can I set up an Apple ID so my kids can use their new Ipad but I still want access and control can I conect them to my account or control theirs

If you disassociate the device from your AppleID and tie it to another one, you cannot use yours to control the other. They will be separate and independent. For better or worse, the AppleID authentication and authorization model was not designed with kids in mind.

You don't say what the current requirements are for your iPad but you will likley need an adpator/transformer kit.

    You can delete it.

  • I purchased an ipad from a dealer on ebay with a 9 month warranty still on it.  I set it up and decided to return it and buy the new Ipad instead. How can I be sure I didn't activate the warranty, or deactivate if it has been activated?

Sorry, I can't tell what it is you're trying to ask. What does the warranty have to do with your intention to return the iPad (to whomever) and get another one?
There's no way to deactivate a warranty.
The warranty transfers with the machine, has nothing to do with the owner.
Look around in the Support pages, you can figure out a way to type in your serial number and see what your current warranty status is.

  • I used my husband's email for my apple ID.  I just got him a new ipad but can't use the email to register.  If I change my ID now, will that email be available for him on his ipad?

    Hey LamFY,
Thanks for the question. The short answer is Yes. Once you change your Apple ID primary email address, the previous email address will be freed up for use with another account:
Apple ID: Changing your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5621
Be sure to follow all of the steps in this resource, most importantly the first step of signing out of all Apple features and services.
    Thanks,

  • Can I use my Apple DVD player with USB connector with my new iPad?

Can I use my Apple DVD player with USB connector with my new iPad?

No, the iPad won't recognise it. If you are wanting to copy content to the iPad then you will need to copy it to your computer first, and you can then sync it to your iPad.

  • How can I share my purchased content with my grand kids on their new iPad?

I purchased a lot of videos and games for my grand kids on my iPad.  I just gave a new iPad Air for Christmas to my daughter and son-in-law and I want to share all that content with my two grand babies (sync it on their new iPad) so they can enjoy it anytime.  We're not sure if my daughter and son-in-law should set up their new iPad under my own Apple ID or if there's a way for us to sync the shared content on their new iPad under their own new Apple ID.

yes, if you activate home sharing
Also, you could sync your kids iPod Touch to your iTunes.

  • HT5622 My apps are not updating as I have no longer access to my eariler apple Id and now I am using a new apple Id which is allowing to download  apps but while updating those apps my iPod wants eariler apple Id password to update what should I do ?

    Hi Kanishk,
Those apps are forever tied to the Apple ID they were purchased under. You can either delete them and re-purchase them, or you can go to Manage your Apple ID and reset the password on the old Apple ID so you can use it to update your apps: Apple - My Apple ID
If you decide to continue to use them under the old ID password, I would suggest that when you reset that password, you change it to be the same password as the one you are currently using. That way when apps need to be updated you will only need to know one password and you won't have to be concerned with which Apple ID is displaying.
    Cheers,

  • HT201263 None of the above have worked. Ipad completely bricked. This began when merely updating IOS software as instructed. Now Apple want to charge me for using their crappy software as directed. Surely this is not only immoral but potentially illegal.

    Read: iPad Troubleshooting Assistant
That procedure eventually leads you to the need to restore it.
Make sure you are following the instructions in this procedure to the letter. Here they are, with emphasis on some easily overlooked requirements:
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPad, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release only the Sleep/Wake button.
Continue pressing and holding the Home button while you reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.Note: If you see the "low battery" screen, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears (iTunes icon and USB connector) release the Home button.
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the "recovery mode" alert ("iTunes has detected a phone in recovery mode").
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you do not see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. Be patient since it sometimes takes several of these attempts before you are successful.
If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
Select the iPad in iTunes and choose "restore from backup". This assumes you have a backup. If you do not, you will have to download all your purchased iTunes content again. You do not have to pay for anything you already purchased.
If you still can't get it to work, you have done all you can and only Apple will be able to help.

  • ITunes quits when I'm trying to open it. I have installed the latest version and another user on the same Mac can use their iTunes when they log in. I have tried deleting iTunes and re-installing but it still won't open. Any ideas?

Hold down the option key while starting iTunes and make an new library.  Will it open then? If so, you have a bad library.  With the new library import the library.xml version of the file in your iTunes folder.  This will make it 90% like before (some metadata are not identical, but I don't know which ones).

  • I have an original ipad, do I have to deauthorize before setting up and using a newer iPad?

Do I have to deauthorize my older iPad if I am switching over to a newer one?

No. Not at all, at least if you are still going to keep it. If you want to sell it or give it away, you want to erase it and remove it from your Apple devices. Take a look at this.
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
iCloud: Remove your device from Find My iPhone
IF you want to disassociate the device from your ID,
Manage your associated devices in iTunes - Apple Support
If you are keeping the device, you do not have to do a thing. You can activate the new iPad without doing anything with the old iPad.

  • Can I use my new IPad while it is charging

Can I use my New IPad while it is charging?

You can use the iPad while it's charging, however, it will take longer to fully charge.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.
