Can I set up CC (Photographers Program) on more than one computer? I would like to set it up a desktop and a laptop.

You can install and activate Creative Cloud desktop applications on two computers, regardless of operating system, for the individual associated with the Creative Cloud membership. See the product license agreements page for more information.

Want to use the TM backup from my desktop to keep my laptop up to date when I travel, and then vice versa, when I return. The laptop (MacBook Pro) is running Mtn. Lion 10.8.3, but the iMac desktop is running Lion 10.7.5. Is this even possible with the same external hard drive being used to go back and forth like that?
You can use the Time Machine backup files of the iMac onto your MacBook without any problem because your MacBook has got a newer version than the one the iMac has got. However, you shouldn't do it in your iMac, and if you do that, you might damage OS X because your Time Machine apps will replace Lion apps.
You can still restore individual data onto your iMac > http://pondini.org/TM/E3.html Note that you can back up both Macs onto the same external disk, but you can't use the same backup in both, so Time Machine will create another backup for each Mac you have -

It's a common issue. The Basic panel is merely hidden.
Hiding/unhiding panels is actually a feature of Lightroom but it is unintuitive - few people know it exists - so most newcomers are thrown when a panel somehow gets hidden.
Right-click anywhere in the right hand side panel area and a context menu will appear.
Click the Basic option to make the Basic panel re-appear. -

It's not completely obvious. What you have to do in Spaces is to position your cursor to the upper right of the screen, after which faint + (plus) sign appears in that area. Click that, upon which another Desktop will appear.

No. 10.6.3 was the last retail release of Snow Leopard. Download the 10.6.8 Combo updater and put it on a flash drive to make it easier to install the largest part of the update.
Also, don't push the same disk image of SL to your Macs unless they are exactly the same model as it was originally installed on. The wrong hardware drivers will otherwise be in use.
